Worst restaurant ever.... Will not try again.... Not recommended for the people who like to eat tasty food also the staff was disappointed not even know how to behave .... 1/10😞

I recently visited Sapana House Restaurant in Reading with my partner over the weekend, and unfortunately, our experience was far from satisfactory. Despite it being a busy weekend, the restaurant appeared severely understaffed. We had to wait an unacceptable 30 minutes just to receive the menus. Adding to our frustration, the male waiter attended to a table that arrived after us before finally approaching us with the menus. The main source of our dissatisfaction was the extremely rude behavior of the male waiter serving us. Not only were our main courses served before our starters, but when we inquired about the missing starter, he responded from a distance instead of approaching our table. This lack of attentiveness and basic courtesy is inexcusable in any setting, especially in a hospitality environment. On a positive note, the ladies working there were attentive and provided good service, and the food itself was commendable. However, the overall dining experience was tainted by the poor service and unprofessional behavior of the male waiter. I strongly urge the management to ensure such grave mistakes are not repeated. Proper training and sufficient staffing, especially during peak times, are essential to provide the level of service customers expect and deserve.

The food is good！especially the dumplings. Service is not as good. Cold, untimely and treat customers differently.

The best Momos I’ve had in the UK by far. The staff is friendly and the food is always 100/10 The Thukpa Momos especially is a class apart

Good food. They use pork as well, please be informed of that.

Had a great time. Plenty of Nepali dishes and Amazing taste. Space is quite congested however, service is great . Reasonable price. Recommended if you want to taste variety of Nepali dishes.

What a gem of a place!! Super friendly and welcoming staff. We all enjoyed a selection of different momos to share amongst the group, although all good the chilli lamb were so delicious!! The mains were also tasty, and the price was super reasonable for the food taste and quality.

Terrible place terrible staff was shushed ignored and left as if I was not supposed to be there. Had gone with my wife to eat told her I had heard of this place from my Nepali workmates but what I got when I went there felt racially segregated. Don’t recommend

Visited on a Saturday night for a quick meal - a great menu, full of items I'd never tried. Four of us choose diverse dishes - all good, decent portions and great service (very helpful in guiding us through an unfamiliar cuisine). Good value

The food they serve has so much comfort and homely. Out Must have includes Steam monos, puri tarkari, and macha bhaja. If you are looking for authentic nepali cuisine food, then you just found one. Loved the food, atmosphere and courteous staff.

I do enjoy coming to Sapna Home, for central Reading it's reliable on price and quality. You have to come here expecting relax place, food is decent for price paid. I tend to stick with momo, chow mein and couple other items on the list. Preference is to sit upstairs, it is better. Over the years I've noticed fewer vegetables in their chow mein, as well as removal of salmon curry on their Thali dish. I can imagine much is being economised, if prices go up on these dishes (as they have) then keeping couple of mix veg on chow mein would be better. Overall good place.

Our all-time fav for momo’s. Absolutely love their chilli momo’s. Puri tarkari is nostaligia, such authentic flavours and they never disappoint.

Friendly small restaurant we just walked in and we’re offered a table the chow Mein and lamb curry were delicious. Great value .

Food were absolutely terrible. Service were okay.

On a bustling Friday evening, I decided to grab some takeaway from this place. Despite the high activity, they seemed indifferent to the takeaway orders, informing me of a 30-minute wait. Interestingly, on weekdays like Wednesdays, their service is notably more considerate. When I requested a spot inside to escape the cold, they suggested going downstairs, only to find it fully occupied. Regrettably, no chair or apology was offered for the inconvenience. Needless to say, I won't be returning.

Terrible experience, they treated us very badly, very rude staff! I do not recommend anyone to come to this establishment!

Came to this restaurant for a quick simple lunch. Ordering process was fine although not very friendly service. My meal came very quickly however my partner was left waiting for half an hour, after being told it would be arriving in two minutes when we asked if it would be coming twice during this time. My food became cold during this time too. Eventually gave up and left, waiter was unapologetic throughout. Still made us pay full price for this and no apology given when we explained why we were leaving. Extremely disappointing and would not recommend (unless you’re not hungry and would like to sit and watch someone else eat for half an hour)- WASTE OF TIME

We went there for lunch, and one of our friend got stitch (metal) in momo. Luckily he didn,t swallow it, which was very dangerous. When we told about the incident, the server looked and took it away, as if they gonna take any action. But he never came back. No apologies at all. Thats very dissapointing and charged us for that particular food as well. We were not expecting free food, atleast they could say sorry and change the food. They didn,t bother to do any.

Hands down one of the best Nepalese food I have ever had in the UK. They serve not only amazing and top quality Nepalese cuisine but authentic as well. The quality of food and flavours are spot on. Trust me, if you want the authentic Nepalese khana, do visit this restaurant!

The quality and quantity of food for the price is absolutely unbelievable and the servers are very nice!

Now this place hasn’t changed since over 10 years ago that we came here and that is good. An amazing place to savor some tasty Nepalese cuisines. Their momos are consistently great and so are other items including chowmien! The Nepali dumplings are also good, absolutely authentic!

What an amazing experience! Its a small restaurant with sitting on ground floor and basement. Food is delicious, service is quick. Vegetable chowmin is just perfect! Very well made with their special spices. We also tried their Pan Fried Momos and Jhol Momos… very good taste. Jhol means gravy, so it was like a soup with momos. Really enjoyed the food and overall experience was great! Will definitely come back soon!

Best momos ever but services is bit slow!!

One of the best places in Reading - delicious food, big portions, good value. I recommend getting the Chow Mein and then some boiled Momo to share for the table. The vegetable options are delicious for vegetarians. Make sure you ask for mild spice if you don’t like spicy food! Service can be a little slow when it’s busy as everything is made fresh. They also sell on Deliveroo but it’s a bit pricier (though the portions seem a little bigger when getting it delivered), again though it can take awhile at peak times.

My favourite Nepalese restaurant. Cannot fault anything here. We had the momos, chow mein and thali. One of the best meals I’ve had. Staff are amazing, quick service and a great range of food. We went twice in one weekend whilst visiting Reading!

This is the second time I’ve eaten here. Loved it both times. Great value for money and the food was delicious. My friend left his sunglasses when we left and the waitress ran up the road to catch up with us so she could return the glasses.

I loved the Chowmein and Sukuti Chatpate the most, We tried a few more things too but those two really stood out the most , Great Portions too , Young Brother on the counter was friendly and welcoming We will be back when in reading.

The best Nepali food in reading

Very pathey service. Happened second time in a row. I have ordered through Uber eats & half of my order was missing. I called back & lady said sorry. Order again & will give you some extra something. Uber is saying that order isn’t eligible for the refund.

I loved the jhol momo here. Other dishes have been tasty each time I have visited.

Visited 2-3 times at this nice little restaurant. Staff is polite and welcoming. I prefer their chicken thali for warm homestyle chapaties & daal and ghee bowl. But I don't like their idea of cooking chicken curry with the skin on. Probably, it's a Nepalese thing, or just laziness of the chef to remove the skin on a £4 whole chicken from sainsbury :) Skin on curry can be disgusting/off putting for Indians. Anyway, the curry still tastes good after the necessary peeling. It would be great if they could increase the curry and daal quantity by 25% and extra cost to the price reasonably. Those serving bowls are cute, but just too small to compete the meal. Ambience is alright for a quick afternoon meal. They could make some effort to avoid stale odour on the ground floor.

Great home cooked food. Service can be slow but it's worth waiting for.

The food was absolutely amazing. I shared some dishes of momos which was a great start. My main dish was Chappati Thaali set . This was absolutely delicious. A couple of bottles of Gurkha beer to accompany my meal. Having been to Nepal, this brought back great memories. The service was superb.

Basic place but lovely staff, extensive menu with good prices.. red wine was lovely Would really recommend. We will be back.

I dine at sapana whenever I need an affordable delicious meal. I rate the Jhol momo and come here once or twice a month. Friendly service and great to interact with the local Nepalese community.

Delicious food, friendly staff. Perfect place for a quick and cheap lunch or dinner for two or a big group (I've seen people have birthday meals here). Get the momos (be warned, when they say spicy they mean it!) and the fried crackers (greasy but sooo moreish).

Very rude staff. Went there in evening time, the place was quite empty and there were few tables empty downstairs but the staff from that floor sent us upstairs saying the tables were booked and we went upstairs and stayed in one table and literally in 2 minutes the staff from downstairs came and said to the lady working upstairs - oh these guys stayed here and laughed in the corner. Felt like they made a joke of us. Throughout our dinner time nobody came for the downstairs table . The staff gave us only one menu in a rude way as were two persons, can’t say they maybe short of menu as the place was quite empty. Few minutes later a couple came with a newborn and sat next to us where the staff treated very nicely and we can see the difference how the serving lady treated us and them. Maybe the staff thought we were young and she doesn’t need to be nice with us. Anyways one of the worst experience, the staff didn’t knew how to treat customers no matter their age, looks or any colour. Will never go back again.

Very poor service and disrespectful staff. I got my order after 2:30 hours. Firstly the staff forgot the order to pass on to the kitchen and then why put the order last in the sequence. The worst service I have ever got in any restaurant. Not recommended at all

Went there, there were two single tables available, we were 4 people so asked them go join the tables. But apparently that was not possible for some reason lol. Terrible service no friendlinesses at all. Plus its very expensive. Think twice before you go.

Chicken Steam momo and pan fried pork momo were tasty and fantastic. Chicken noodles was not as aspected. Staff downstair need to be more hospitable and friendly. He hardly speaks so it looks rude even if he is not. He was using bucket to collet dishes from the tables should have used a tray instead. Overall restaurant is okay.

We had visit yesterday this place order chicken momo noodle veg momo but Thukpaa was amazing..I do recommend to try here !

I have only got delivery from here. But my wife loves the chicken noodle from here. There sauce is also nice.

We alway liked their food but today it was horrible. First bite had grit in my mouth.Samosa was cold and probabaly couple of days old and had no flavour. Momos very oily and had no flavour.The quality has gone down. Never going to order here again.

Worst Nepalese food I ever had.I ordered pan fried veg momo, deep fried momo, paratha and aloo nimki, all was below average . Food was not upto the expectation . Gave me a tummy ache after eating . Not recommended .

Worst customer service and hygiene. We found a hair on the momos and the owner or cook instead of being apologetic came out of kitchen in fighting mode. She was upset we cancelled the order and said it happens sometimes,hair can fall in the food but we shouldn't cancel the order. That was super rude. I am never stepping in to this place again because hygiene is not their priority.If she can say that finding a hair is normal for her then am not sure what happens in the kitchen behind closed doors

We found hair in momoes and told we don't want that momoes. The owner was rude and started yelling at us loudly. She kept arguing that we must eat another plate of momoes.

I would highly recommend their momos and chicken curry. I had paratha with chicken curry and momos.

It's OK but disappointing based on these reviews. Setting/atmosphere is poor, takeaway type environment, the opposite of intimate. Service was poor. Tables not cleaned, disinterested waitress. Quick enough to order but very very slow for food to arrive (depending on what you order) meaning your meals will not come out at the same time. It was 1 hour after arriving before my thali arrived, the place was quiet and my friend had already finished and was ready to leave. Food was OK. Don't order the thali, took ages and really disappointing (also dont order the buffalo, really very chewy and dry). Dumplings are nice, we had pan fried. Prices were ok (thali is expensive for what it is).

It was my very first tryst with Nepali food and Sapana lunch home was an amazing experience. Ordered the Veg thukpa, Puri bhaji and Aloo Nimki. The food had a lovely burst of flavours without being too heavy / greasy. I hope they come up with more options for vegans / vegetarians

Tried the samosa chaat. Not great but not bad. Will go back for momos and chow mein, after confirming its vegetarian.

Best authentic Nepalese food I have in the UK. Staying in Nepal over two months in 2015 and loved their street food. Having the food from Sapana Home recalls my memory in Nepal!

Very Delayed service with biased treatment with Indians.

I regularly order food from them, Nepali tea is so tasty its got fragrance of sweet potato and their noodles, you could compare it to the world famous noodles from Penang, Malaysia!

Food are nice, very interesting to explore the menu and really good value for money.

Authentic Nepali cuisine in Reading at pocket friendly price. Friendly and Family oriented atmosphere. Would lovs to visit again to try out some more dishes! Recommendation : Chicken Chowmin, Veg / Chicken Steamed Momo, Jhol Jhol Momo.

Went out for a dinner with family. Delicious food. Service was average as there was only one waitress but her attitude was so kind and polite. A wide Nepali menu especially I like fried rice and veg Thukpa. Average price 7-8 pounds per dish. Simple ambience with seating arrangement at ground floor and in the basement. Maintained but space is bit crunch. Still, it's Worthfull to try authentic Nepali cuisine at least once . Highly recommended!

I went to sapana home with my family to have dinner one of my friend recommended this restaurant so we went there today our table is upstairs close to the counter and the food was so nice the counter lady who served us was so good she served us very well we were unknown about the food because this is the first time we tried Nepalese food really liked the way she explain about the food and also the song which is played in background of the restaurant makes our food more enjoyable we really enjoyed food with the music overall very nice food and very nice service really recommend to all .

Ordered the momos and waiting for my order, observed that the lady at the counter is making momos and managing the counter at the same time. After a while she gets up to clear the table's, wipes the table with a blue cloth and straight away goes to the counter and starts making the momo's without washing her hands, felt sick with the handling of food. I immediately cancel my order, she was initially reluctant i told her the reason and she cancelled and gave the refund. Not a place I would visit.

Hygiene is an issue, we ordered the momos, the lady at the counter was managing the counter and at the same time making momos. She then gets up to tidy up the table, wipes with blue cloth and then goes back to the counter to make momos without washing hands. I felt Sick with the handling of food. Cancelled my order she was reluctant but told her I saw what you were doing so she gave the refund. Don't think they care about hygiene.

Poor Presentation - we ordered our 1st and the last dish- vegetarian momos. our food was presented worse than you would serve to anyone. Just Thrown into the plate! Oh and The presentation depends if you are Nepalese (both the tables next were served with good presentation). So a racist behaviour as well what we observed. Poor Hygiene - starting from floors to tables including highchair, it was filthy. The taste of the only food we ordered was nice but the overall experience spoilt it and we just left the place and ate somewhere else. So 1 star for the chef thats it.

Service pathetic. Took 1.5 hours to serve not ready to clear table after food done. Even to serve a coke took so long that got up and picked by self. People seated next table paid and left in between

I can say the best nepali food i have ever had till date. The food is simply awesome and the price was decent as well. I would defo recommend this place if you are looking to eat authentic Nepali food.

Wanted to find an independent little spot while stuck waiting for a Reading train and thankfully found this absolute gem. Wonderfully generous portions, authentic feeling food that is not tamed or changed to suit the UK high street and really tasty food. Had the Chilli Momos and Chaat. Portions were so big I got got them bagged up for later in my journey. I Will now look forward to changing trains at Reading and always visit this brilliant little restaurant that really deserves a visit if you ever pass by.

We have been to this restaurant one too many times and absolutely love their food. But my biggest disappointment is service. The service is very bad, at time you don't even get water for 10 minutes after you asked for it. They really should improve upon their service aspect. It's really shame that even though they have delicious food, I feel like giving low rating only because of service.

Small and cosy, felt like I was being cooked for by a Nepalese family, which probably isn't far from the truth. Highly recommend, the food was delicious.
