Service was okay but restaurant has all its heaters switched off, draught coming through rapidly. Food was okay, but lack of flavour, freshness etc. Staff casually just talking on the phone in front of customers, instead of doing their job of customer service. Bit of a scruffy restaurant, but is doing good due to their long-standing reputation and consistent food.

This restaurant many years ago was I would have recommended without hesitation. However this restaurant is now a shadow of its former self, With the once lively atmosphere that has now been replaced by almost an empty dining room. The service remains impeccable, unfortunately the food no longer lives up to the high standards that once earned this establishment such acclaim. The curry which was once rich and full of flavour, now feels lackluster and subpar. I don’t know what’s changed for this business. I hope they can change back to what made them amazing many years ago.

Worst Big Johns in Birmingham- almost triggered my sons ALERGIES!!! 😠 I was greeted with the most miserable lady, who looked disinterested. I ordered 3 burger meals and 3 chicken meals. I specifically asked for no Mayo on one of the burgers, as my son is allergic to eggs. After a 25 minute wait - 7 customers came in after me and left with their food- she the proceeded to give me one chicken meal less. Once this was rectified I confirmed the ‘no mayo’ burger and she lazily pointed to it saying ‘there’. I asked for my taco sauces and she tried to give me 1. I asked the other 2 and she made it like she was doing me a favour. To top it off, I got home and there was CHILLI AND MAYO on the the burger. As my son is allergic to eggs he couldn’t eat the burger and we had to order him food from elsewhere. ABSOLUTE DISGRACE!!

Al Bader Restaurant 178-182 Ladypool Road, sparkbrook, Birmingham B12 8JS The staff will mislead and will misinform the consumer This restaurant will invite you in nicely and tell you to park in their car park behind and then they will contact you with their parking charges notices ! Days later they will send £100 notice and then threating letters ! Cheating the public !! Never will go to these people again ! They think money is free, shut these businesses down for bad practises and they have illegal practises with tax avoidance in the Uk is illegal as they only take cash and no credit cards! They do not give receipts for any purchases, informed HMRC & inland revenue of this growing scam as this is very suspicious of tax avoidance. Very bad experience at this restaurant. Stop cheating the public , & run a honest business and not one to over charge and let your customer fall into your parking charge notices !! It’s a scam for sponging more money of the public !! Also as we left to go back to the car park , the resturant leaves rubbish outside and as we walked past rats came out of the bags giving us a fright. This is a health hazard and it is likely they will have rats on their premises also. A total nightmare this place is & it is likely these rodents will be on their premises, causing a health hazard. Birmingham city council should investigate this business on their bad practices.

We were in Birmingham with the family for a small get away! I did some research on halal food places to try whilst there and Tru Burger came up. After reading all the good reviews on here, we were really looking forward to it. Got there the diner looked good and the staff were friendly. The starters were nice, we got lamb chops and Mac an cheese sticks and that’s where it stops! The mains were disappointing, the burger looked good but when trying to eat it was very sloppy, too much sauce and everything just fell out. The chips were soaking in oil! Tru Burger brand setup is good, they just need to improve the delivery and quality of food!

Its been around for decades however it has passed hands several times. We had a chicken curry and a meat curry. The sauces in both were the same - they added pieces of meat to make the meat curry and chicken pieces to make the chicken curry. The sauces were also made several days earlier. Nothing fresh. The taste was awful really - it is actually an insult to Indian cuisine. Please do not visit this place. And it was quite expensive for what we got.
