Big John's Perry Bar in Birmingham

I recently visited Big John's Perry Bar, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. To start, I found a hair in my chips, which is not only unappetizing but also raises serious concerns about the cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen. It's hard to enjoy a meal when you're worried about what might be lurking in your food. Additionally, I had specifically ordered niblets but was served wings instead. This mix-up not only disrupted my meal but also left me feeling frustrated, as I had been looking forward to the niblets. Overall, my visit to Big John's Perry Bar was a letdown. The issues with food quality and order accuracy made it difficult to enjoy what should have been a pleasant dining experience.

I recently had a disappointing experience at Big John's. The service was slow, and my order took much longer than expected. When the food finally arrived, it was lukewarm and not very flavorful. The staff seemed overwhelmed and uninterested in addressing any concerns. Overall, I left feeling unsatisfied and unlikely to return. I hoped for a better experience, but unfortunately, it didn't meet my expectations.

Food was soggy and I asked for no mayo 3 times and they still proceeded to put mayo on

Doner in naan was nice, meat was tender, salad was fresh & bread was soft. But portion is too small for the price! Accompanying chips and cola were okay. Fish & chips were disappointing. Chips were okay and fish was bland. Mushy peas & curry sauce were flavourless and watery. Could not taste any vinegar even though it was added during order. We got 20 chicken popcorn for free. The packaging is better than the food tbh 😆

I ordered via the just eat app, my food was saying delivered on time but did not come to me. Turns out soneone had taken my food stating they lived in my house and it was for them. I called up and spoke to a very polite guy called jaz, he was very helpful and helped me get the order remade and sent to me. Apart from the person who took my food in the first place the rest of my experience was great. The food was amazing. Thanks for all your hard work!

Stale cold nann bread. Kebab meat had the texture of leather, greasy and tasteless. Will never buy anything from this chain again. Word of advice those preparing food should not be using their mobile phone in food preparation area not hygenic.Understand why the shop was empty

The staff are incompetent and constantly mess up my order. The wait times are quite atrocious for fast food.

They gave me the wrong order they gave me spicy wings and curry with chips and I ordered a burger with chips my drink had no straw and they also take very long to serve and the workers at just standing there I was served by aabas

Service needs to be looked into as I was left waiting when they were told what I had ordered for pizza toppings choice.

I ordered Chips and Wings, I have got worst ever chips in Birmingham. They have fried left over chips from previous day and fried in low quality oil. It was my first purchase and maybe its last.

I'm not happy with food will not order from big John's perry Barr again food not warm also chicken is not fresh.

Chicken too too salty the chips is now smaller than before. And where I sat there was too much noise couldn’t even make a call peacefully ngl.

The workers work really slow and sometimes they are a bit moody. Last time I had to wait nearly an hour before my food was served.

Intended to go for the quarter pounder cheeseburger or wings but was told they stopped doing them. I got the spicy nibblets and chips with cheese and jalapeños for the extra flavour. It was a mouthful of layers of meaty goodness with the jalapeños giving a blaze to the cheese. The place is also refurbished and there are seats away from the window for those who can do with little privacy. It was well worth the price.

Staff is rude and incompetent, food is bland at best and they keep putting their prices up every few weeks.

I asked for a little bit of salt only and no vinegar, they acknowledged it but the guy put vinegar on my food anyway and I told them I said no vinegar, I could’ve been allergic they clearly don’t care about their customers doing ignorant stuff like that all the big johns are falling off big time

I went there twice and was disappointed both times. Their fried chicken is an absolute joke; you can literally extract a tin of oil from one piece of chicken. And that’s not it, because it’s way too salty as well. Can’t handle their food. Not even a single sauce is free. So, I bought the sauce yet left my food and the sauce on the table, cause you can’t just simply eat it. Tables are dirty, and the toilet door is always open too. They really need to work on many things.

Worst big johns in Brum! Dont bother, Korean burger with sesame seed buns and hardly any sauce so standard chicken burger, burnt beef burger with no salad and fully loaded chips with over fried chicken and drizzle of cheese! Not answering my phone either! 20 minutes wait for what?

Absolutely disgusting service from jiya. The lady with the headscarf and glasses. She is so rude has no manners and I will not be back here. I do not know why she is hired in the first place. She is busy flirting with the workers and not even responding to my questions about my order. If you don’t want to work then don’t! No one even picked up the phone! And she’s telling me wrong information when I have come multiple times and never been told that I need to order something else. Honestly never coming back if jiya is still there!

Nice food but a bit pricey. Also don't give any sauces with food you have to pay extra if you want sauces. They also do daily deals which is quite good.

Had a one piece chicken and chips, the chicken was fine not out of this world. The chips were good but they BARELY put any salt on them even when i requested it (I guess Cole Anderson was right). Service was slow because there was only one person working at the counter ( idk why). Still have no clue why they charged me £4 for it without the meal when it was listed as a meal at £3.30. Just strange. Rating: 3.7/5.

Nuggets & chips. Strips & chips. Simple order. Took 25 mins! The shop was not busy. Asked for extra salt & vinegar on chips. Nothing was on there. All sauces are charged. Food was bland and greasy. Will not return.

Extremely silly and stingy for a chip shop to not offer chilli sauce on the chips. You have to pay separately for chilli sauce. Not a big deal in terms of money but how greedy can you be to not even offer the basics.

Sent one of my boys to get a pizza 20 inch plus a normal portion of chips and he was charged a ridiculous amount of £24 I still can’t believe how much he got charged unbelievable shocking!!!! And it didn’t help that the pizza was tasteless !!!! AVOID AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE !!!!£

Fantastic food, had the fish and chips and boy they were gorgeous. Cooked to perfection and tasty and also 50% off. Lovely new interior and clean and fresh. Curry sauce was nice and so were the mushy peas.

For a grand opening the service is still poor the women on the till took my order twice and still got it wrong 🤣

From cheap and cheerfull to So over priced just spent like over £25 and was told that the 50% discount was applied..WOW.seems like they covering the cost of there new renovation .the food was FRESH and HOTT but it hardly filled everyone up, way shocked from what it once was to what it is now .never ordering a big johns again, but good luck with the new Improved venture .all the best 👌

I have recently tried this place since its revamp, I'm sorry to say the service is worse and they are still getting the food wrong!! Do not go, its 50% off for a reason. Note for manager, I came in shortly after to complain, asked to speak to a manager, the guy would not come out, must have got sick of the complaints or got scared. I calmly expressed my disappointment, the guy thanked me for being discreet. I asked for better service and I will order today, he asked me to wait in the back of the queue, disgraceful service. Peri Peri king is right next to it, better food and better service.

Big John's Perry Barr no tiene pretensiones, pero sirve comidas sabrosas. Hacen una variedad de comidas rápidas pero su pizza es excelente. Hacen servicio de comida para llevar. En mi visita, el personal fue muy servicial y se desvivió para ayudarme a empacar mi comida y bebida. Sirven comida halal. ¡Su pizza con carne variada es simplemente deliciosa!

I ordered a veg pizza. After collection we opened it and found chicken tikka style pieces and items we did not order. I complained but have had no response. Just shows they have no regard for dietary requirements. If you are vegetarian don’t go!

Chicken wings smelled and tasted like fish. God knows how long and what that oil was used for.

2 SINGLE beef burgers and 1 (ONE) SMALL chips come to £7.37 Staff didn't advertise their specials. Yes....... ok...... I should look before ordering but upsell at least. To top it off I'm 99% certain i was asked if I wanted a large. I replied 'yeah yeah' Got back to my car, started eating one and realised it was a small, single. Prices are wayyyyyy too high. Will not be visiting again. To top it off they allow begging to go on in their shop. I cannot stop it on the streets but for god sake not when I'm ordering.

Best place to buy chips and chicken for cheap. However, due to capitalism, Big John's have been decreasing their food content and increasing their price. Something that clearly wrong, use to be a family friendly establishment now, something of a Cooperative competitor, totally lost it's ways.

Sólo fui aquí porque mi hijo quería pescado y papas fritas. Normalmente uso el Red Onion al lado que es bueno para la comida.Solo era posible comprar pescado con papas fritas (4.99), y no comprar solo el pescado. Como solo quería el pescado, esto salió caro en casi 10 por dos lotes. El personal era agradable y dijo que tomaría 7 minutos para cocinar. Cuando llegó, el pescado tenía un olor muy fuerte. (El pescado fresco no huele). También venden mucha pizza, y puedes especificar qué ingredientes debes tener. No había pasteles de ningún tipo en el menú. Las patatas fritas fueron la mejor parte de la comida, se cocinaron a un dorado. La única crítica era que había demasiados.Probablemente no voy a ir allí de nuevo.
