Khayyam Restaurant in Birmingham

Very dated restaurant and also very very loud music. I love music but in this place I always get headaches. I understand that sometimes party and birthdays going on in this restaurant and customers ask for music but I think its always way too loud .

Good location and food, rather close to the canal, a little bit pricey.

Food came a little late, but tasted nice. Nice ambience and artwork. Toilets need upgrading.

Didn't like the atmosphere, but food and prices were good.

You won’t find a restaurant in birmingham that does Persian food better than Khayyam. Super friendly staff, amazing live music and large portion sizes so you always get what you pay for. Jooje kebab was really juicy and my friends food all looked tasty too. 10/10

Terrible experience! Place is very dirty , out-of date decor. The staff really rude treat customers! The men behind bar are terrible. Food are expensive but not cooked properly. It seemed located in the back of a warehouse, from the entrance need go through a long corridor to get into a hall . Decoration throughout looks really cheap & odd! We went to this restaurant with a large group friends, then all of us had food poisoning. Void ! Void! void !

It's an Okish place. The food wasn't the greatest. I have eaten better Iranian food.

Food decent, has live music and a newly dabber on weekend. All customers join in the dancing. Was a fun night out. We were in a big group, so there was plenty of room. Parking available nearby. Best to book on weekends.

I've been in Khayam a few times so far just because of their entertainment( live music and belly dancing). Food quality has been always bad. Strangely, they always make school boy mistakes in the bill. If you are drunk or for any other reasons you don't check your bill, you will pay some extra quids. In addition to that they charge you for service charge in the bill. The other side of the persian restaurant is their fast food shop which is separated by a door. That door is usually open and you can smell the quite old burning oil of the French fries. I do not recommend Khayam. I will not try it again. There are many other persian restaurants around, which much better quality food which don’t rob you off in the bill.

We went to Birmingham to try iranian food. Had 2 Iranian friends. Food was hot and fresh. People serve you with a smile and fast service and happy to help. Their was also music and songs which gave nice atmosphere to the place . We had a lovely meal.

These guys have been at this location for almost 14 years and never failed with the food. Their Chenjeh Kabab is out of this world. Marinated to perfection and served hot 🔥 with plenty of salad and rice on the side. The management is very active, and their live music on Saturday nights brings life to the restaurant. You should try their shishlik kebab also cause it's just served right. So juicy and tender. Khayyam restaurant is one to try if you're in Birmingham.

Had pre drinks at my house and get a missed call followed by a text message saying “ Hi i’m called from khayam restaurant. Let you know we got DJ party tonight “ at 8.56. I called the mised call back and they said they had a dj in so would be loud, i said no problem. Then 5 mins later i get a call back cancelling the table. Terrible to cancel so short notice no apology - disgusting customer service and very disappointing

Fantastic food and service. I had a main dish for two people but the portion was very big that is for four people. Very happy with the starter as well.

I attended this restaurant yesterday evening along with a group of 10 friends. Walking into this place I’ve never seen anything like this in Birmingham as I’ve ate in numerous places. This place is much needed of refurbishment and restrooms were dirty too! But we went ahead to be seated for dinner which we got there for 8pm and everyone had arrived by 8.30pm, the seating was also very cramped and additional table had to be added which was uneven ! We ordered and waited until it was 9.45pm i asked I the waitress she’s advised a further 15 mins entertainment is available until dinner arrives ! Watch the belly dancing! Finally it was 10.10pm dinner was served, I had ordered salmon along with another friend I went ahead to trying the salmon it had a awful smell I didn’t touch any of the food ! I was horrified when the waitress I called over and she said there’s nothing wrong with it why can’t you eat it ! I said no this is not acceptable but she’s refused by saying well order something else but by this time it was too late 10.45pm ! She’s refused to refund and I ended up only with a glass of red which I paid £26 which was absolutely ridiculous! I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone who has acquired tastes and knows what good food tastes like! This certainly is not the place !

Delicious food, the waitresses were very quick and efficient, the atmosphere was great. There was a live music and a belly dancer that added more to the atmosphere.

Excellent and authentic Persian cuisine, well worth a takeout but if you can go through to the restaurant and enjoy the atmosphere.

Ordered first takeaway from here and was 10/10 delicious and hot when delivered will order again

I went out to celebrate my work colleague 40th birthday. Having ordered my first choice 20mins later the waitress told me they had no more so 3 of my group had to make an alternative choice. Our meals came after an hour. No apology. The meal was very plentiful and nice. Other waiters serving at our table lacked manners constantly stretching over me; talking over my head and squeezing pass me to give my friend her order. When I came to pay my bill they added on over £3 service charge. I said I only wanted to pay for my meal. The manager said the service charge was for live entertainment. I repeated my request. It was at this point the manager increased his rudeness and told me to either pay the bill in full or leave in a very aggressive manner. So I left. His poor behaviour spout my evening. Certainly won’t be going back.

I was staying at the hotel next door and decided to visit this restaurant and i am glad i did , visiting for first time ,excellent service. The food was extremely good and nicely prepared, the bread puts other restaurant's to shame as is enough for two and baked very well and was delicious. It was so good that i went back next night. Definitely i will go back again if i am in Birmingham area Well done chief nice work .

Food is always delicious but the portion size is much smaller now and the prices are extortionately high.

A speedy visit before going to the nearby cinema. Food was gorgeous! Lovely light rice and such tasty chicken with ground walnuts and pomegranate sugar. Yum! Fab meatballs and lamb dish too. Would definitely recommend, despite location looking a bit dodgy and run down. Restaurant itself is fine and staff were friendly.

Gheyme and kebabe khayam was perfect. recomend this resturant for iranian meals.

We love Persian food and have visited a number of restaurants in London. I really think the food here is the best! We had chicken and kobideh kebab and both were delicious and the rice was cooked to perfection. The staff are always very friendly and approachable. We also love the entertainment. We will be back again.

From the owner to every members of staff and DJ they just ensure you ll have the best experience. Food is amazing, alcohol is served at the bar. What a lovely place. I had my son’s Bday here and it was a blast. Thank you everyone at Khayam and we will be back for more.

Had a very disappointing visit. Poor service, waiter showed little care in meeting and greeting. Food took ages to come and when it did arrive the naan were cold and salmon was burnt. When I complained to the waiter, his response was, "that's how it is, im not a chef". I asked to speak to the manager and apparantly he was "unavailable". Walked out and will never return again. Completely ruined my evening.

Visited this restaurant on Saturday 28th September and I was very disappointed with food and the entertainment. The kebab koobideh was too salty, however, it wasn’t as worse as ordering a mix vegetables grill and receive 6 grilled mushrooms with a slice of lime. When I asked doesn’t this come with rice, waitress told me no, but I will ask if I can bring you rice or salad. She did bring me portion of rice but charged me £3.50 for it. So imagine paying £11.49 for 6 mushrooms and slice of lime. That’s extortion and absolutely ridiculous. To add to the extortion price, you have to pay almost 20% service charge on top of spending minimum of £15 per person. So that’s £17.50 for 6 mushrooms (with no seasoning, just plain grilled mushrooms) and a slice of lime. The entertainment is normally good and the music is good as well, however, on this particular night, majority of the music was sad songs as if it was a national broken heart day. I understand that they have suffered financial loss due to covid, however, this was the case for many restaurants and instead of keeping the prices as it was before the pandemic, people are forced to pay COMPULSORY 20% service charge regardless if they liked their food and entertainment or not. I have been to many fine dining restaurants such as The Savoy, The Maze Grill, Hakkasan, Claridges and many more restaurants and the service charge was voluntary not compulsory and it was 10% of the bill not 20%. As much as I like to support small businesses and Persian business owners, however, I will not be returning anytime soon.

Got a very tasty lockdown takeaway from this place. The food is very good and authentic. The taste is very comparable to more expensive Iranian restaurants in London. Surprised to see that there this place has gone under the radar for so long. Some of the reviews here bear no relationship to the quality of the food. Chicken dishes were especially good with falling off the bone, delicious and tender. Side dishes also good.

Hi ordered on Saturday for delivery the guy who took my order was good and he gave me a total for £29 which was good as this is way over free delivery charge Then came the messed up part the delivery guy asked for £30 when I told him on the phone the guy said £29 and then he started saying they charge £1 for delivery i ended up giving him the £30 I was really disappointed as I order every week and was a regular when they were open Really disappointed will not be ordering again This is proper misleading as there leaflets say free delivery its not about The £1 its about honesty and good service Really disappointed 😞

I visited this restaurant around 8 in the evening on Wednesday and it wasn't that busy as I anticipated it to be. The service was good for the most part. I ordered mix try for 2, and it definitely satisfied 2 people. The meat screwers were well cooked and tasted delicious and the rice was nice and not too dry compared to what I had experience before. The staff were approachable and very professional. The only draw back was that drinks had been given to us immediately upon our order. I had not drank the bottle coke and the ice within the cup that was provided had melted by the time the food came. Therefore I had requested a further cup with ice. With me I prefer to drink the coke with the meal rather then alone, although this is personal thing. There wasn't anything wrong with the service that was provided and I would recommend this place to anyone who is in the area.

Ordered some food for my family by delivery from this place for the first time and I must say the quality is extremely poor. I would give it a zero if I could. The food was also really salty. As much as we hate wasting food they had no option but to put it all in the bin. Will not be ordering ever again.

horrible owners with rude staff who argue with customers, horrible burnt food. The place is in a bad spot and the food was either over cooked or under cooked. The other issue is the hygiene of the place is horrid, the toilet tells you alot about the restaurant that made me want to vomit. Looking you can see its attached to their takeaway which is pitstop and just look at those reviews and you will know what im talking about. The music was annoying and so loud. Overall angry as they charge a lot of money for such bad food and service. I wont be returning again.

I left my (addressed) documents including my British passport behind while ago. When i got bk from out of town I had a letter from khayyam restaurant staff (Mr Mohammed) to inform me of my documents kept safe in Khayyam restaurant, plus the mobile number to call for arrangment I give you five star of being loyal to your customer and I appreciate that you put an effort to post me a note for safety reasons and kept my passport in your premises. Thank you so much for that. Also: Just to let you know I dont live in Birmingham otherwise I would be there more often to treat my tummy with a tastey and delicious dishes... well done guys All the best

Authentic Persian food, live music and good ambience. The staff there is so helpful that when we walked in the singer started singing a Urdu song despite not knowing the language... Lol... Other than this, we enjoyed the food and overall experience. Must try Challo Kebab Chenje...

We have been regular customers in last few years. However, I am not going there anymore. We were the only guests tonight and the whole restaurant was empty, but the waitress wanted to sit us in a dark corner which we objected and asked for a different table. However, she rudely gave us a look and hesitantly agreed that we sit there. After that, her dirty looks made us so uncomfortable that we left without eating our food. Restaurants are not all about food, but good service, respect and a welcoming approach from the staff which this place does not offer.

Delicious!! After I was a complete nuisance trying to order, the gentleman at the end of the phone was so helpful and patient. Had a delivery to my hotel (only up the road but he kindly insisted) in Just 20minutes and the food was incredible. Even a free pudding! Thank you very much, that Asheh reshteh was amazing.

Loved the sheesh kebab and thin lamb steak and rice. Surprised at how tender and juicy the meat's were. Great experience, definitely recommend the place for Persian food.

We shard a meal for two but I struggled to communicate my drinks order and thought I had ordered chips but obviously had not.

Khayyam restaurant is really nice and their service was excellent, delicious food with great atmosphere for your birthday party, we enjoyed our dinner and music with our guests .

Best food and best customer service

We went to the restaurant about 7pm, they offered us a table in the corner which isn’t a nice place. We told them we preferred not to eat here and then they gave us a better table. Food came on time but wasn’t same as before, I won’t recommend this place:

Currently the food is very good but be careful when you go as the music is loud and certainly not the Venue unless you're into Persian dancing alternatively of course you go earlier in the evening before it starts or other days of the week

A great place to eat with live Iranian bands

Very bad. I went last Saturday and when i went to get bill and everyone ignored me because they were on their phone except one young girl who was washing dishes, she apologised and helped me however she looked very young to be working and when I complained she just smiled and apologised. No further action was taken. Very rude.

I was really disappointed in my visit to this restaurant. The food was ok but the service and staff were rude. If you have a family I wouldn't advise going. It isn't child friendly and are not helpful.

The behavior restaurant staff is were very good and friendly . The food was very good. There was also a very joyous atmosphere so that we could stay in the restaurant whenever we liked it and enjoy the live and cheerful music.

If you are after 5 star quality lamb and chicken grill go to this restaurant. Don’t waste your time in any other grill house. I’ve been their customer for 2 years and they are just getting better.
