It used to be very good but they have failed to retain their food quality. We ordered Charsi tikka and kabule pulaao but charsi tikka was pathetic. It was old/rotten cooked mutton. We had to drink a whole litre of Sprite to avoid vomitting it out. Will never go there again.

Absolutely brilliant experience every time, Khyber never disappoints, Atif is always very kind, friendly, attentive and all the other staff are very nice too, food is brilliant and it’s a very nice experience every time.

Meat quality in lamb karahi is bad. It's ready in like 5 minutes so obviously not freshly cooked. Also full karahi is never a kilogram. Gone downhill lately

Had an amazing experience at Taste of Khayber! The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel so welcome. The food was flavorful and authentic, especially the Karahi and Chapli Kebabs – perfectly cooked and bursting with traditional spices. I recently visited this place with my family, and it was an absolute disaster. Right in front of all the customers, the manager was fighting and verbally abusing one of the workers in the most unprofessional and shocking way. It was not only uncomfortable but completely inappropriate, especially since we had women and children with us. The manager’s behavior was appalling, and it made the entire experience extremely unpleasant. I would never recommend this place to anyone, especially if you're going with your family. The lack of respect and decency was beyond anything I’ve ever experienced. Avoid this place at all costs!

We had an amazing time there! The food was excellent and had great spice/seasoning. It had lots of seating. The Afghani naan was my favourite it looked so good too. We also enjoyed the lamb charsi karahi. Definitely coming back here!😃

The food was really bad, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. The lamb karahi was very average took like five minutes to be prepared.

Authentic Pathan food. Try their Afghani and Charsi Tikka. Chapel Kebabs are awesome, awesome texture, though a little too much dry coriander for my taste. In the end, their qehwa is a must have. We were being served by Naseeb. Nice, helpful bloke.

Title: Disappointing Grill Experience - Avoid at All Costs I recently visited this restaurant, hoping to enjoy some good grilled food, but it turned out to be a complete disaster. The lamb chops were a joke—clearly boiled in water before being thrown on the grill, leaving them completely flavorless. As for the lamb tikka, it was so soft and mushy it felt like biting into cotton, with absolutely zero taste. What’s worse, the food arrived suspiciously fast. Grilled food should take time to prepare, but they served it in just 10 minutes. It’s obvious they pre-boil everything, ruining any chance of proper flavor. Overall, this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. I will never visit this place again and would strongly recommend everyone stay far away from it.

This was my first time visiting this establishment and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. There were plenty of staff members on hand, so we were able to get a table right away. Our food arrived within 5 minutes of ordering and it was fresh and delicious. I was very impressed with the overall atmosphere of the restaurant, which gave off a wonderful Pakistani vibe.

Good Food Good Mood . In Birmingham (Alum rock) the only Pakistani taste and corporatieve staff and good environment for the food is Khyber Restaurant. I’m a foodie and I always look for good food and taste with new items and ingredients. Here I found all at all . Today I walk down all alum rock streets and I could not been satisfied with heart for any other restaurant and then I moved on here for Lamb karahi and it was very delicious and amazing . Alhamdolillah (🤤)

It was quite busy on Sunday evening as we expected, waited around an hour then got the place on (Takhat) it's a sitting place raised from the ground where you sit on the carpit on it. Food was amazing with original taste of KPK. Chappal kebabs were juicy and delicious, served with big hanging non bread. Dumpukhat and charsi karahiz were tasty too. If you really want to enjoy this Pakistani cuisine Taste of Khyber is the best choice. We travelled from London to all the way Birmingham and the wait and travel was worth it.

As always really enjoyed the food and the service is spot on. I took friends who use to go to a different Afghani restaurant. They were really impressed and we had a lovely time.

They don’t even deserve one star , as we usually go to this restaurant but they are very disrespectful towards customers, they don’t even care about regular customers last time we had food in July 2024 and when we finished we ask to pack the food we left, and they bring food container and foil wrap to us front of other customers families and they said pack it yourself not even pack put in containers and foil wrap it and take it . Like we was beggars??….. no that’s unacceptable behaviour. And then we ask for the water for child and they said you have to pay for water it’s not free And when we got water from outside they get angry on it . They are very rude , very bad service and disrespectful. And please don’t take out there food as well specifically chicken kharhai as we got and it was smelling bad . Like unhealthy uncooked and smells like old stuffed.

Avoided this place like the plague for years due to their never changing zero food hygiene. Recently, on a whim I looked at their rating and was surprised to see it was a 4. Decided to visit. The place has been refurbished to a high level, serious moolah has been spent on this by the look of things. I purchased chapel kebab, naan (neither of these pictured) and the masala fish shown in the image. The kebabs are quite nice, naan is fine but the fish wasn’t too good. Will defo try the kebabs again when I have a craving. On a side note the body language of the staff wasn’t good - pretty grim faced and despondent.

Meat is boiled, and Karahi is made in 5 mins for takeaway and tastes like it. They have boarded the open kitchen, so now you can't see what they are up to.

Water isn't free. They used to have a jug of water that was free and now they're suddenly charging a £1 for 500ml of water. Other than that, food is good.
