First coming to Greggs i was flabbergasted, the smell immediately flew up my nose. The yum yums just hit different, you know what i mean? The sausage rolls, TO DIE FOR! I would spend my whole life at greggs if i could, my kids love it too. Super family friendly.

We managed to get a table in The Coal Shed on a Saturday evening, just by chance as we walked past it looked amazing so we enquired whether they could seat us for dinner. Luckily they could. The decor and ambience is fabulous, low lighting and everything is immaculate and so stylish! The service is second to none- we had our wine glasses topped up throughout, the waiters were so polite and charming. Absolutely EXCELLENT standard of service. We shared a plate of Lindisfarne Oysters to start, which were divine. Then for our main courses we had the Sussex rotisserie chicken and the North Atlantic Halibut (this was my choice) it didn’t disappoint! It was a buttery soft, perfectly cooked piece of fish with a tangy sauce filled with capers and samphire. My partner praised his half chicken as incredibly tasty! The bill was very reasonable too. I highly recommend The Coal Shed in Brighton for a superb meal with outstanding service.

We had a brilliant Saturday lunch at Blacklock in Soho — a complete feast where every element was absolutely spot on. The steaks were cooked to perfection, tender and full of flavour, but the real surprise was how incredible the side dishes were. The 10-hour roasted sweet potato deserves a special mention — hands down the best we’d ever had. The kale and Parmesan salad was another standout, bursting with citrus that cut straight through the richness of the meat. Although they offer some options, this isn’t the place for vegetarians, but for meat lovers, it’s a dream — especially given the prices. It’s rare to find steaks and chops of this quality in London for under £20. Even better, Blacklock is a B Corp, so they’re putting real effort into sustainability alongside top-notch food. Service was just as impressive. A huge shoutout to our server, Tom, who was kind, attentive, and genuinely made our experience better. He helped us move to a quieter table for my mum (who struggles with hearing), even turned down a speaker nearby, and took our orders with a real interest in what they offered. All in all, Blacklock nails it on food, service, and values — an easy recommendation if you’re after a hearty, satisfying meal in Soho.
