The best restaurants in Wales

We fancied some chips saturday afternoon ( just gone) so we called in to this fish bar and I must say it was lovely to have them from there because as you all know I will only have food from a clean place and a clean building and this was a clean fish bar , plus they cook other take out meals and offer a delivery service so they got the lot going on and still friendly . My hubby had to wait for a fresh lot of chips which happens and they were well worth the short wait. We had a fishcake , pie, chips and a tub if gravy and omg they were absolutely beautiful. The service was great nothing to much for them with a good atmosphere so yes it well worth a stop you guys give it a go because with what we had it will not disappoint you. They gave us a menu leaflet and wow there is lots on there something for everyone so we are going to order something different next time to have a delivery service but I'm sure it will all be great i will come back and let you know how it goes as we live in tredegar and hopefully it will still be hot . This place is a bit strange. Bit too ‘new age’ for us. Clothing on sale quite ‘samey’ perhaps South American. Musty smelling old chapel building. Glad it’s in use. Loved the wooden tables in the cafe though, whole tree slices. Didn’t hang around for food/drink.

Took my sales team here for lunch, 10 of us in total. The food is incredible and you certainly won’t go hungry. Everyone at the pub is friendly and can’t do enough for you. Feels like a good old fashioned boozer set in an amazing position on the Wye. Everyone only had good things to say about the place. Steak is a specialty here. No hesitation in recommending the Rose and Crown. Thanks all who looked after us that day.

Just had a delicious Sunday lunch at Cleopatras bistro. It was very tasty, we will be returning very soon.

Went in hoping for food and coffees after a long walk. The car park was nothing short of irritating! Went inside and went to order food only to be told that there would be nothing available until after 5pm. Coffees weren’t special. Not even a cake to be had. Left disappointed and will not be returning.

Great pub in the village. Usually bands on the weekend and sports shown on the tvs. Drinks are reasonably priced and service is always fast and efficient. Great atmosphere

Stupid layout, 5 staff serving, noone clearing tables apart from customers. Sadly will go somewhere else before a performance.

Visited twice during our weeks stay in Conwy. We booked both times as we had a dog with us and we were accommodated both times, no problem. The food was fantastic both times was very flavoursome and good portion sizes. A shout out for Megan who is an absolute star! She was taking bookings on the phone, seating people at tables, serving drinks and food and nothing phased her at all. She went about her job quickly and efficiently with a smile on her face, even finding time to chat. An absolute asset to your company!

There was a lady locked in the accessible toilets (she was okay, albeit.. drugged up.) had to climb an obscene amount of stairs with my walking stick (MS) to the other toilets while staff flapped. Staff were unaware that the lady had been in there since before we had arrived (90 mins earlier), but they were familiar with her. Staff were not remotely apologetic for the inconvenience and struggle to get upstairs. It just put a dampener on the experience. Food was very nice though.

Great atmosphere, staff are amazing, and the ales are great.

I can’t fault it! I was cod when I arrived and the young woman working behind the bar brought a heater to warm me. Excellent food, I had the pie, followed by crumble and custard. Well prepared wholesome food. Plenty of food,you won’t leave the fairy glen hungry!

Food was sublime. Had probably the best lamb tikka masala I've ever had and peshwari naan was great too. Atmosphere good and sat upstairs is nice a quiet - if a bit far from the service! Regardless love it and want to come back.

Not suitable for gluten free options despite menu description. We stayed locally and this restaurant had good reviews and described having gluten-free options available which was cinic red when we phoned to book a a table. The reality however was very different. Unless I wanted a vegan red Thai curry there were no options for me on the menu. The items described as gluten free in the menu weren't available and we were told the menu was out of date. Very disappointing and not suitable for anyone wanting gluten free options.

Great fun, delicious ice creams in many flavours, mine was salted caramel - dreamy! The tuna baguettes and Paninis are generous and delicious. Also excellent coffee with the bonus of a mini macaroon on the side. Lovely, thank you.
