Large family gathering at the nearby Gwern Borter Manor needed to be looked after one night. We numbered 20plus some with challenging needs. The Ty Gwyn and the people rose majestically to the occasion. All it took was a bit of planning and communication and we were able to have a great time and not one complaint from any in our party. Sara(h) front of house was excellent. Food was perfect. Thank you to all others involved in catering for us who I didn't get to meet. Gwasanaeth rhagorol. Diolch. We had both dinner one night and were there for the Sunday Roast. This was some of the best pub food we have ever had. The menu had just about everything you could want. The bangers and mash was wonderful. The Sunday Roast was a cut above most other pubs might offer. The staff, on both nights, were warm, fast, and cheerful. This pub is located in a very out of the way location. Please take the time to find this jewel.

Wow, Sunday Lunch was amazing, everything you would expect when you think of a Sunday Roast, well cooked food, local Welsh Beef, fab Vedge, Yorkshire Pud, oh it was gorgeous . There was a great atmosphere, a comfortable, warm welcome from the Friendly owners and Staff , it was like going to a Friends house for Lunch. All I can say is go, booking recommended though , Enjoy X

We had dinner in the Ty Gwyn at the end of July. Sitting outside (due to Covid social distancing measures) was a bit chilly, so warm clothing was essential. Dinner was excellent; we particularly recommend the lamb and the salmon. Dog friendly - we gave ours the sausages from the children’s menu, which he loved. Definitely recommend.

Fabulous garden dining area, excellent menu. Nice to see so many fish dishes on the menu which seems rarer than ever these days.Service was excellent, some might say slow though we felt un-rushed rather than ignored. There were plenty of staff and all seemed to be being kept busy.I’m sure it would’ve helped them if the tables were renumbered (numbered more clearly) as three sets of meals were brought to our table in error over the evening. There is a covered area but for me far too tightly packed in under the canvas, for anytime, let alone these strange times we have currently. So glad we had a garden table.

Friendly and welcoming hosts supported by their hard working team. Exceptional menu featuring homecooked main courses - choosing which one is not easy.We learnt later that the wider Rowen community have all been supporting Ty Gwyn Hotel during the pandemic, investing in the outside courtyard eating area to help keep the business viable during covid restrictions. If you get the opportunity, I would recommend booking ahead for an enjoyable, tasty meal.

We called here as we were staying local and our hotel was unable to offer us hot food. We called here and they had us a table within half an hour. Lovely little garden to sit and have dinner - if a little chilly once the sun went down! Food was beautiful, we both had the steak which was really well cooked and the pepper sauce was stunning. The girls who served us were great and lovely characters. We would definitley eat here again should we be local.

We pre-booked here as expected during Covid however when we arrived they couldn't find us on the list. We did get seated however . The food was good but we were flabergasted when we asked for ketchuo and mayonnaise to be told that "we don't do it ". The explanation was that it wasn't Covid friendly to serve in rammekins as previously and that they didn't buy the individual sachets as they were too expensive ! That's surely a basic condiment for many meals ! We found it very strange. So my tip is if you're going here for food take your own condiments.

We waited over 1.5 hours for our food (45 mins to place order). The portions were small, about 10 whitebait for starters £5/6, bread selection came with veg oil, not olive oil. The burgers are NOT homemade, the cod looked like a kids size, the steak was over cooked. We were told off for moving tables, even though we’d asked as the table we were given was so wobbly, our drinks wouldn’t have survived. When we asked for ketchup for our burgers and chips, we were told they’d run out at the weekend, it was Tuesday! Our waitress was very rude and unprofessional. We were told we should be grateful, it’s been a hard 18 months for everyone......yes, us included! Shame really, we’re here all week and staying next door but we don’t want to go back. Not even for a drink. Awful. P.S. The picture of the condiment bowl, with the knife next to it for scale, was what the whitebait came in.

It was my daughter's 50th birthday on the 21st of November, 2020.Plans had been made well in advance with the owners that a warm, dry space would be available for my daughter and a small group of family and friends.Part of the group had completed a three hour walk in wet and windy conditions and were looking forward to warmth, luncheon and a few pints.Upon arrival they were greeted with a torrent of abuse because someone had the temerity to switch on an electric fire -the scene which followed was unbelieveable - the abuse escalated and we were told to leave ( despite my daughter having bought a round of drinks )I find it hard to believe that anyone , let alone someone in the hospitality industry, could behave in such a manner. It may have just been another day for you but it was a very special day for my daughter a celabration and what should have been a happy occassion turned out to be a disaster. She will never get that day back -SHAME ON YOU.

We didn’t get to eat here This place was recommended by our B&B but we were also advised to book a week in advance due to the Government dine out Scheme which we did. I had a long conversation about how they only had diners outside and in a marquee. We were keen to book somewhere local as we were going to have a very long drive A week later we turned up in absolutely pouring rain - only to be told we had booked a take away ! The staff / owners couldn’t have cared less that there had been a mix up or that we had been driving for hours We were left standing trying to explain on the edge of the marquee in the rain - not once was an apology offered or any admission that they had made a mistake ( afterall how would I know all about dining in the marquee etc if I hadn’t booked a table )We were offered two summer chairs and a coffee table on the edge of the marquee and had we accepted we would have got soaked ( or more soaked ) but even this was a half baked offer The other half baked offer was to phone the pub down the road - this was obviously not done as the female owner went off for a minute and came back with someone’s food We ended up driving around trying to find somewhere else which wasn’t easy I accept that mistakes happen but this family run business couldn’t have cared less and as I say not a single apology was offered Not a nice place if the owners / staff are anything to go by

We stayed in Rowen recently in a house situated next door to the Ty Gwyn. We booked a table for 8 people which was vacant on arrival. We were situated in the snug area towards the back of the pub. The decor was lovely and traditional of a Welsh Country pub and very interesting. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and we had a good laugh with them. We were celebrating my Mums birthday so i asked if they had any candles for her dessert, they went above and beyond and put on candles and a Happy Birthday sign which was no trouble for them. The food is fairly priced and delicious. The menu is traditional and not too fancy and suits the vibe of the pub. Would highly recommend a visit to this place.

Was staying in a guest house near by and came here 2 nights out of 3 of our stay. We would of made it a 3rd but on the first attempt we didn't click it was the place we had been told about due to the Hotel sign and missing the very narrow road at the side which takes you to the rear of the place. Booking recommended due to a camp site a few hundred yards away and on Friday evening there is a pianist and Welsh singing. The lasagne was made in an individual dish, was rich with a beef and tomato taste and deeply layered: yummy and the chips golden and well cooked. The following evening we had beef pie though the picture does not do it justice; again extremely tasty. We did find that waiting/bar staff did ignore us upon first arrival and we nearly left but we're glad we persevered and waited.

We have just returned from a 2 night stay in Rowen, beautiful little village!!! We had heard good things about the local pub so popped in for a few drinks on the Friday evening, spent time taking to the locals and enjoyed some amazing Welsh singing ... although we were advised it was quieter than normal we still enjoyed the experience. We could smell the food whilst in the pub and decided to book a table for the Saturday evening, wow - the food was delicious, hot and full of flavour! I had the lamb shank...absolutely to die for, literally just melted off the bone. My husband had steak & ale pie which he’s says was the ‘best pie he’s had in a long time’ - he wouldn’t share it with me though so I’ll have to take his word for it!! We had desert which again was delicious, biscoff cheesecake and waffles for the husband! We spent the rest of the evening in the bar and stayed until closing time (only us and a local farmer left). If your looking for a friendly and reasonably priced pub with awesome food and friendly staff/locals then this is the place for you! We will most definitely be returning - thanks for having us!!!

Very popular country pub which we visited on a Wednesday evening when it was surprisingly busy – you definitely need to reserve if you want to eat inside although outside options are available. The menu is small by pub standards but contains all the usual suspects and the quality is above average. We had the steak pie and the battered fish & chips which were both very good. There are no starters and only a small choice of desserts but again they were good quality. The service is very friendly although stretched at busy times and the only downside for me was absence of any zero alcohol beer.

First of all the chicken curry is cooked perfectly and the taste is one of the best. Now for the let downs 4 pieces of chicken and a few vegetables do not make a chicken curry. One poppadom and a teaspoon of mango chutney for £2.00 is outrageous. The waitress asked my husband if he wanted all rice with his curry or half and half (half rice and half chips) he replied yes I said no just the rice. We had the meal but felt we were in the way because the pub was packed, we had booked a table. Nearly £12 for two deserts one cheesecake and one apple pie. I left my husband to settle the bill because it was packed and we had to get to the bar to pay which was extremely busy. I didn't look at the bill until we had returned to our hotel and then it was too late to drive all the way back. We always leave a tip in a restaurant but my husband forgot but I am so pleased he didn't. I did think that is this country smoking was banned inside pubs well not in this pub it is not two men who were clearly locals smoked the whole time we were in the pub. I know this is the right place I have enclosed a copy of the receipt I also had the cheese cake that is in the photos. The car park is at the rear of the pub down a very narrow lane.

I visited the hotel twice for food and once for drinks during a family holiday. The food was good quality although a little pricey for what is was. There is plenty of outside seating which had a country cottage garden look. Would go back again

Boring menu with very average standard of food. Seems popular with locals and also supplies a need for self-catering holidaymakers in the various cottages around the area, especially those who wish to bring their dogs with them. There isn't much choice in the vicinity unless you go into the nearest town of Conwy.

Ate here twice and found the food to be both good value and also very hot (a bonus these days). The menu is fairly basic and clearly targeted.

We have just had a three course meal with coffee at this very quaint hotel in Rowen. We were half an hour later than booked but were still met with a very warm welcome. Everything about the venue was perfect, not a complaint in sight. Meal choices were excellent and great value for money. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Will definitely recommend and visit again. Thank you.

We visited the Ty Gwyn last night and had a lovely evening. Service was very warm and friendly. Atmosphere was great. We asked for a side of Scampi alongside our meals and we were only charged £2.95, which we thought was a bargain. Really enjoyable trip!

We'd intentionally made a reservation here for lunch to follow a walk through the local area. When we arrived we were informed that the cook had not been able to come in so there was no food available. We went elsewhere where we found an excellent meal, and I've given them a 5* rating. The bar staff here were largely absent while we were present. I was left with the distinct impression that our custom was not wanted.

Visited for a family gathering. What can I say, well the food was delicious. Everything freshly cooked and well presented. Enjoyed the lamb shank but the cheesecake was even better. Friendly and efficient staff. Highly recommend.

We were staying over the road in Cobblers Cottage and visited here a few times. Had a fantastic fish and chips on our first visit and the following day had the Sunday roast. This was no doubt the best roast dinner we have ever had in a pub. The beef just melted in the mouth and the roast potatoes were most definitely home made. Fabulous. The staff were very friendly and welcoming especially Lesley behind the bar. We are hoping to come back to the area in the futue and will be sure to visit here again.

Booked the Ty Gwyn for six people for Sunday Lunch with one diner needing a Gluten free meal. A lovely country pub in lovely surroundings. The waitress couldn't have been more helpful from start to finish explaining the gluten free option. The menu was brilliant in its simplicity. The food was just perfect. Both meat and veg cooked and served to perfection. The most pleasant staff, lovely pub and amazing food all made for the most wonderful Sunday afternoon. Thank you to all at Ty Gwyn.

Fantastic Sunday lunch at Ty Gwyn. Rang ahead to check table available. The menu was simple but perfect. My husband had a mix of roast beef & pork and I had vegetarian nut roast. Both meals served with Yorkshire puddings roast potatoes and gravy and two dishes of vegetables. All the food was hot, fresh and delicious. We also had lovely puddings and coffee. Great value at £12.95 for 2 course lunch. Friendly staff, cosy pub, good beer. We will be back.

The ice cream was awesome and very tasty! 😊 The only let down was that the staff could have been friendlier and more welcoming (it's my first time visiting Llandudno!).

Tried to charge for a squeeze of Costco ketchup on my son’s chips after I spent £15 on drinks and chips. It’s easy to spend my hard earned money ANYWHERE else. Usually really like going out of my way to support local independent business that go the extra mile to attract more tourists to the area…. Won’t be coming back here unfortunately. Shame as the location is great. Perhaps this is a little petty, but I thought it just plain mean.
