Booked in advance for food on a Friday 7.30pm for 5 of us ordered food at 7.50pm which arrived 9.45pm ! If we had been told it would’ve been that long we would’ve left. Got our first update at 9pm to say chef was just starting food and it would be 20 minutes but of course it wasn’t as it arrived much later. Food was value for money and the beer prices were good. I asked for the lengthy delays to be reflected in the bill expecting a goodwill gesture - owner refused to budge which I thought was disappointing and so we agreed to differ. If a gesture had been made we would’ve returned several times for drinks as we were staying locally but I felt the relationship had been soured.

Visited the pub twice, once for drinks, once for drinks and an evening meal. From the point of view of drinks, it was great. The setting is very nice and the staff were lovely. Really enjoyed a beer sitting out in the beautiful garden in the sun. It all went wrong when we ordered food. The wait was lengthy but we didn’t mind that. However, when it finally arrived, most of the food was of poor quality and poorly cooked. The nachos sharer was covered in some kind of unpleasant sauce (it certainly wasn’t cheese), jalapeños, salsa and runny guacamole came in tiny paper cups. Considering two of us shared, we got about a teaspoon each. The potato skins were very good! The steak was beyond disappointing. It was served with pre-made chips, about a spoonful of wilted salad and frozen peas. The onion rings never arrived. The steak itself was cold, tiny and poorly cooked, it’d clearly not seen enough heat. It looked like a 70s school dinner, not a ribeye costing over £20. When we complained, they did this off the bill. The fish was limp and soggy. However, the rack of ribs was good. The place has so much potential. Drinks were great and the staff were lovely. The setting is fantastic. However, the food was very disappointing indeed.

I have to admit that we were initially slightly sceptical because of the laminated menus and almost too much choice of food but four of us ate here one evening in half term, all eating something different, and every meal was delicious. I would not hesitate to recommend it for traditional pub grub.

The Y Giler Arms is in a beautiful place of Wales, but what makes this a 5 star is the general service of the people who run it. Very flexible, accomodating and genuine people. The stay was a pleasure and a very welcome respite.

Stayed one night, in a motorhome, very expensive for a pitch, grass needs cutting, toilets not clean and water in taps is brown , wouldn't like to shower or clean my teeth there. Had a shandy from the bar, very expensive and mostly lemonade. Felt very ripped off.

On sunday 19th May at 8.ooPM Myself and 5 friends had a sit down meal in the restaurant. Main courses were ok, typical pub food. Some of the food looked like it had been heated up in a microwave. I had the custard and apple & BlackBerry crumble for pudding, which was not nice. The custard had not been made with milk. It was a watery dull yellow colour and it had been microwaved. The crumble was unfortunately just stodgy. We were the only persons in the restaurant that night. Staff service was very slow and they seemed to have little interest in our table. There was a female member of staff from Wolverhampton who was the most pleasant and took our order. I'm sorry that I don't know her name but she was an example of how staff should be. All in all a poor service and poor food.

Visited on Sunday 19/05/24 at 8.00PM - Party of 6 friends -The Giler Arms was in a lovely location -Nice view over the adjacent lake. The food provided not the best of quality. Especially the puddings which had been microwaved as the centre of the plate was really hot and the outside was cool. I had custard which looked like it has been made with water and the apple crumble was soggy. Staff did not look happy apart from the female chef who was a shining light in the middle of a dull experience. Our group of six friends were the only people in the restaurant. Sorry 'Giler Arms' but you have to do better if you ever want us to come back again.

Had a great long weekend here in a group of eight. Lovely quiet location close to the A5 with a large car park for our motorcycles. This is a fantastic base from which to explore North and Mid Wales. The rooms are clean, well furnished and comfortable with private bathrooms. The welcome was friendly and relaxed. The location is remote so we ate in pub restaurant every morning and night. The menu offers a good selection of quality pub food at reasonable prices. After dinner we made use of the pool room. All in all we were well looked after and had a brilliant time at the Giler Arms. We will definitely base ourselves there again when in North Wales.

We were staying as a large group locally and decided to try Sunday lunch at Y Giler Arms. We were put on a table near the window with beautiful views and attended to promptly. We had a combination of 2/3 courses (there were around 5/6 starter options and the usual main roast options including a vegetarian dish). The food came out quickly and was lovely. There was plenty of gravy and bowls of vegetables brought out with the main meals. There was a good selection of drinks at the bar (something for everyone). Staff were extremely friendly too. Overall the meal was really tasty and it was incredibly good value- we wouldn’t hesitate to return next time we are in the area!

Attended this amazing place for WVVW campout. I actually stopped in the pub. Was greeted by the lovely Eddie and his amazing family and also some friends of his that was helping out for the weekend. The room was spotless and cosy. Breakfast was very good along with the rest of the food I had. I was that impressed I am coming back later in the year in my camper van to stop on the campsite. Highly recommend 👌.

We stopped here for a night and booked a pitch with EHU for our camper van and in the restaurant for a meal in the evening. However, the weather was again against us, so unable to walk the area as planned (it was torrential at one point and even the sheep in the field next door took refuge!). After a while, we strolled over to the pub between showers for drinks and to plan our dinner. We opted to have a main and pudding, and were not disappointed. I opted for the lamb shank, with husband having the pie of the day (steak) then I had the chocolate and cherry cheesecake, and husband had the chocolate and orange jaffa cake. Lovely. Staff were great and food was lovely. We even booked breakfast the next morning to enjoy before we came back home! Well worth a visit.

Found this little gem on a drive out to another place and decided to go for a evening meal here with the family. There were a total of 8 of us and we were catered for at short notice although others had booked. The food part of the pub was welcoming ,.and We were looked after by a lovely called Becks our waitress who looked after us and also who we had a laugh with. The food was a great price and good sized portions and although we did wait a bit of time for the food it was still in my opinion a great place with a great choice of menu. plus at short notice you would obviously expect a little delay for so many people who just descended on the pub. Will be returning next year .

When I called to book, I was offered two time slots for dinner and took the 6:30pm one (I'm glad we didn't take the later one!). When we arrived, the bar and dining room had a fair number of customers, but there were plenty of spare tables. There was a bit of a wait to be seated in the restaurant and I got the impression the staff were struggling to cope with the limited number of customers. After being seated in the restaurant, we weren't kept waiting too long to order our meals (2). We didn't order any starters, but we had to wait over an our for our food to be served. A family of four seated on a nearby table had arrived before us and their main course didn't arrive until we'd nearly finished our meals. I have no complaints about the quality of food, I order gammon, which was tasty, not too salty and cooked just right. Having waited so long for our main course, we thought twice about ordering dessert, but took a gamble we wouldn't have to wait quite as long. The desserts arrived reasonably quickly and were very nice. We did receive a verbal apology for the slow service, but at no time did any member of the staff ask if the food was to our liking. The staff were quite pleasant though. Even though we didn't order starters, I don't consider a wait of over an hour to serve a main course is acceptable, and waiting staff should always ask if the food is to the customer's liking. The average rating is a reflection of the poor service and not the quality of food. Had the service been better we would probably have returned for a second meal.

We initially sat in the lounge bar - we could see the restaurant with the laid tables but we were in the bar area. We have an assistance dog and she had her assistance identification on her lead. However, we were asked, politely, to move as dogs were not allowed in that area but we had to go to the public bar. Under the Equalities Act Law, assistance dogs of any kind are allowed in any public space. We did point out, politely, that she was an assistance dog so we should be allowed to sit there. He insisted we moved, we were not very impressed but we did move as had already paid for the beer. Also the beer we wanted was not available.

We stayed in one of the camping pods (Woody) and loved every minute of it. The pod itself was immaculate and cosy with the option of a fire which heated up in seconds if needed. We also had our own picnic bench, outdoor seating and fire pit complete with marshmallows and rugs to keep us warm as the night drew in. The breakfast hamper was amazing: the sausages and bacon were delicious as were the freshly laid eggs and range of cereals. The views were incredible and Wayne and Tracey were incredibly friendly and welcoming. We’d definitely stay here again - it’s within easy access to Snowdonia National Park with plenty of walks, mountains and lakes to explore.

While stopping on the Tyn Rhos campsite we decided to come to the pub for a meal and what a great decision it was. We were in a large group (6 adults, 6 children and 3dogs) we called the pub and said we may come down . We arrived an hour later and immediately made to feel very welcome by the bar staff, a roaring open fire and a good selection of local beers. The menu had a great choice of real pub classics which is something of a rarity these days and the food we all had could not have been better. All in all, great pub, fantastic staff, local beers and proper pub food. We will be back without a doubt.

We were staying in "Glan Big" house - 9 adults and two children and my sister phoned the pub at 6.10pm on Saturday, asking if they could give us a table for everyone at 6.30pm.Twenty minutes later, we rocked up to find our table ready and Theresa our waitress with a very friendly welcome. Food was absolutely excellent and the décor was really lovely - new carpet throughout and very homely. The 6 year old in our party was given colouring pencils and a book to keep her entertained and our food came out quickly. Really glad we ate locally and we couldn't have been more warmly welcomed if they tried. Special thanks to Theresa who was brilliant from start to finish.

We were staying at the local caravan park which we chose because it had a pub nearby. It was a good decision. The restaurant is deservedly popular and family friendly, and booking is advised at weekends; we got a table because we came early. The food is really good pub food - fresh, tasty and good value. Nothing pretentious, just the basics done very well. Veggie options too and friendly helpful staff. Oh and some nice beer!

Quietly set back from A5 in village hamlet side street. Called in two nights running with group of work colleagues, when staying in nearby holiday cottage, for a sponsored climb of Snowdon. Reserved an evening table by phone in advance. Bar areas, snooker/darts room and restaurant area overlooking small lake. Plenty of parking. Friendly unrushed helpful service and very good range of pub grub from starters to deserts. Good value - about £135 for five of us with three courses and several rounds of drinks.

Another long weekend in North Wales with the Y Giler Arms as our base. The weather was the only downer with Storm Hannah being on the scene, but out did not spoil the stay. The rooms are very clean, with very comfortable beds and everything you need to hand. We had three local beers on hand pump. Conwy Welsh Pride, Purple Moose's Madog's Ale and SA Brain's Reverend James All dropped bright and in good condition. The menu is much better than you would expect in a rural pub and does not disappoint. The gammon was particularly good and the chicken curry was one of the better pub curries I've had.

We stumbled across this little beauty and were not disappointed! Great location, great food and superb service! The range of vegetarian and vegan options were the best my boyfriend has ever seen in a pub. Both waitresses were very attentive- one even came to check if my boyfriend was a vegan because he had ordered a vegan main but soup for starter which contained milk- thank you! Jordan, the other waitress, was very comical and is an asset to the restaurant! Unfortunately we are leaving Wales tomorrow, otherwise we would be coming back- if only we’d found it sooner.

Second time here. Great location with a lot of facilities, camp site, rooms, restaurant and bars. It is currently being renovated with tbh is needed but nonetheless the food is reasonably priced and good. Service was good but atmosphere is a little lacking. No music. Awesome hidden gem...maybe not so hidden, but away from the main high street and almost amongst a residential area. Places is really well looked after both inside and outside. Great decor and tasteful. Superb selection in the bar and the feed menu is excellent. Decided on a small dish and ordered a chicken liver pate and with the brandy apricot chutney it was almost a meal in itself. Yakinori chicken skewers in soy was also excellent. If only we were hungry and planned better then we would have ordered mains... definitely next time we're in town.
