This is just the most wonderful place..! Afternoon tea today - their own-blend leaf tea was to die for. Best "cuppa" we've had in a long time. The fixed-price afternoon tea came with our choice of sandwich from the main menu, a choice of home-made cake, and an extremely generous portion of bara brith. scones & Welsh cakes. Do this at least once in your life. The quality is exceptional as is the customer-service - real nice people working here. Vert traditional tea-room setting - about 20 covers inside? Seating also available outside and their are quite extensive trails up & behind the property to walk off some of the carbs ;) If you're visiting the Conwy Valley this needs to be on your list.

Finding this tea house was an unexpected surprise. We were in the midst of a long drive on a gloomy day, and The Ugly House (not all that ugly, by the way) gave us absolutely perfect tea that really hit the spot. Their homemade cakes were luscious, and their Welsh cakes were great as well. I can’t believe there weren’t more people on a day like that! They have beautiful gardens, a pleasure to walk through to get to the composting toilet, which was clean and environmentally sound. And the staff were lovely. Wish we could’ve spent the better part of the day there. We took home a packet of their house blend tea and will savor it now that our vacation is over.

We were on holiday staying up the road at Capel Curig, Beautiful tea room so we stopped for a coffee. However… first 2 americano coffees £5. Second visit a few days later same coffees £7.80… I should have queried it then . Got home and checked my bank and their menu…£3.50 each? So that’s 3 different prices for the same small cups of americano coffee’s. Slightly confused 🫤 .Although the coffee was nice, and the staff friendly I’d still recommend, but you need to check prices!

Walked from Betws-y-coed to Swallow Falls, and saw this cafe was a little further walk so we tried it out. Lovely little place, so comforting with a wood burning fire, homemade cakes, and information about the history to look at whilst you enjoy some food. Food was lovely, so were the staff who were very helpful to tell us about buses, and price was good too! Would love to go again in the future.

Walked over from Llanrwst and stopped here for a piece of cake and a couple of drinks. I asked my wife how much it had cost and she informed me it was £11.10 - I thought this a tad expensive for a slice of Lemon Drizzle and two Coke Zeros. My wife went back in and queried whether we had been charged for 2 pieces of cake. The waitress checked our order and said that the bill was correct. On breaking the bill down it turned out we had been charged £7.00 for two cans of Coke Zero. The waitress was clearly embarrassed and said that unfortunately she was not in charge of the prices. I find it staggering that you are ripping people off to this extent - I mean come on, £3.50 for a can. Really!! Please stop ripping people off - there really is no need to be charging that amount, there really isn't. We shan't be coming back.

My partner and I travelled from New Brighton, Wirral yesterday to have lunch at The Ugly House Tea Room. The last time we visited we spent £75 – lunch plus 6 jars of home plus your house cake!!!!! We had every intention of doing the same. When we arrived yesterday, we were shown a table right near the exit to the back, and the table was less than 2 feet square normally used to hold brochures. (pictured below) When we asked to sit at a larger table, the young fellow refused saying that he needed it in case a larger party came to eat. This is no way to treat visitors. I might add it is 75 miles away (150 miles round trip!!!!!). WE WILL NEVER VISIT THIS PLACE EVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Although the house is quirky and worth a vist, I can't begin to explain how awful the toilet is. You have to walk through the wood, to a hut with a chemical toilet. The smell was overwhelming. There are no hand wash facilities just a sign saying use the hand gel. Disgusting doesn't even begin to describe it.

We've been twice in 2 days!! First visit, yesterday was for tea and cake. The carrot cake was 10/10 and the tea is plentiful - 4, maybe 5 cups from the teapot! Today we had lunch. Beef chilli for me and Homemade scotch egg for my husband. The meals both came with salad, coleslaw, potato salad and bread. Huge portions... its rare to level a restaurant feeling like you can't eat another morsel - I love my food and this was absolutely delicious, and excellent value. The staff were all very welcoming, friendly and chatty; the food was all home made and delicious; an amazing selection of freshly made cakes and an impressive selection of vegan dishes for such a small place!! Turned up on spec with my other half last Saturday, wanting lunch. Amazing location and stunning building (definitely haunted, ace) and the staff were just wonderful. I am veggie and gluten free, so whilst options were limited, they couldn't do enough for me. I ordered a cheese sandwich and they came back and asked if I wanted a toastie, and it was stunning. Fresh ingredients, good gluten free bread (rare to find) and a nice fresh salad. The lady who was cooking was so attentive and aware of the whole allergen risk thing, even in a small kitchen. Plus both myself and my girlfriend commented at how bubbly and lovely the waitress was! Makes such a difference and really made the experience of just stopping for lunch a great one, enough to write a review. Will definitely be back as we only live on Anglesey.

Places are made by people! Staff at Ty Hyll was wonderful. They explained the history of the place and also the composting system of the garden. Nice coffee and delicious sausages. House is very quirky inside and outside. Garden is beautifully kept. Glad we stopped.

After a very long and hard walk we left the river trail to discover The Ugly House right next to us. Lovely odd looking cottage type place but definitely not ugly! The food however was fantastic. In my wife’s words “That’s probably the best scone...

Stopped at the tearoom on the way for a hike as well liked the quirky name. The food was absolutely amazing. We had the afternoon tea and Welsh rarebit. Mountains of delicious food, all home made and so delicious. Can’t recommend this place enough.

We loved this little tearoom! It was just what we needed after a morning exploring the nearby woodland. The service was great and the selection of sandwiches and sweet treats all looked tempting. We shared an ugly sausage sandwich just so we could try their...

Cosy cafe. Not many tables and can get quite busy. Staff friendly and helpful. Nice bit of music in the background. Breakfast was nice but would have been good to have the option of a poached egg. Only option was fried. Enjoyed my milkshake and my partner enjoyed his coffee. Fair value for money given the tourist area. No parking directly outside but carparks closeby and road parking a way up the road.

Coffee was better than costa and the cake was to die for , all served with a smile. I will definitely be stopping by again.

Tried to charge for a squeeze of Costco ketchup on my son’s chips after I spent £15 on drinks and chips. It’s easy to spend my hard earned money ANYWHERE else. Usually really like going out of my way to support local independent business that go the extra mile to attract more tourists to the area…. Won’t be coming back here unfortunately. Shame as the location is great. Perhaps this is a little petty, but I thought it just plain mean.

Nice home cooked food, friendly staff! Visited a few times now, a basis looking place but the quality and choice of good home cooked food with really friendly service keeps us coming back and recommending to family. Great value, easy access and free parking.

Actually, this is an all-around wonderful place! There is a range of vegan and vegetarian options. I nearly went for the mushroom soup, made with oat milk (I've had it before), but instead had the cauliflower cheese on a baked potato with side salad. Absolutely gorgeous! Cantîn is within the Conwy Culture Centre building, they work well together, so making a visit to both a real treat. There is disabled parking, everything is on the flat on a single level, inside and out, with a well-equipped accessible toilet. All the staff are lovely and I really like the atmosphere. Prices seem very reasonable.
