Immaculately clean cafe that was just about to close when we arrived. We ordered 3 teas and 3 pasties to take away, but the owner offered to wait while we ate our lunch. Pasties were lovely and tea spot on! Thank you so much. Highly recommended.

It was a beautiful day and we were looking for somewhere to go that was different to our usual haunts. My partner said he knew just the place, and he was right! This place is really lovely. It is cosy inside, with half a dozen or so tables, and there's seating outside too. I had a tuna mayo sandwich and my partner had a corned beef baguette; both were beautifully presented and just perfect. The bread on my sandwich was the freshest I've ever had on a bought sandwich. We followed that with apple pie and cream, which was served exactly as we wanted, and again was perfect. The staff were lovely and friendly, but professional too. There is a fantastic range of chocolates available and a small, but good range of gifts and souvenirs. I would recommend this place in a heart beat and I'm looking forward to going there again.

A group of 17 of us were staying nearby and wanted some sandwiches and crisps for our walk. The Riverside Chocolate House obliged. The owner made us fresh sandwiches with a packet of crisps for around £3 and even though the shop closed the owner stayed on to make the sandwiches fresh and even delivered them to our bunk house. Marvellous service and lovely fresh sandwiches.

As soon as came into Wales this was the first place I saw and told my husband we needed to visit! We popped in to see what times they were open and visited twice over the course of our stay. The cafe is only little, but they have a lovely little outside area too. Really friendly people who run the cafe and they make their own chocolate!! We bought some and have had it since we have been home and it was delicious! The food was nice, my husband and I had sandwiches and scones. Their hot chocolate is real drinking chocolate, and you can choose from all different flavours, and it was lovely, the best hot chocolate I've had. I was sorry to leave and would love to visit again!

We visited this lovely little shop/cafe twice during our stay in Snowdonia and on both occasions, it was a delight. I tried the Luxury Hot chocolate made with real chocolate, now powder, and it was delicious. Dark and rich without being too sweet. My wife was delighted to discover they they served Soya milk so she has a Soya Milkshake and liked it so much that she had a second one! On our second visit, we had the same drinks supplemented this time with a cheese, onion and tomato toastie which was excellent too. Whether you are just looking for a nice cafe or are a card-carrying chocolate lover, I recommend the Riverside Chocolate House - it's well worth a visit. P.S. The cafe doesn't have a toilet but here is a public toilet just across the road - 30p in change required.

My stop was brief looking for a toilet which was across the street but I couldn't help being drawn to the sweets display as I hadn't had an enjoyable dessert in 6 weeks and was beginning to be driven by my sweet tooth. I ended up walking out with 6 different truffles and a bag of Turkish Delight which I apportioned myself over the week. I drooled and moaned with pure delight to the amusement of my travel buddy. On a road trip through North Wales on 31/12/17 we saw the sign for this place and stopped to have a look around. The shop was well presented and filled with chocolates- a dream venue some might think. i asked the guy behind the counter (the owner) if the yummy looking chocolates were made locally. He responded with 'no scotland and england, but does it matter- local food could be overrated and not very nice so does it really matter?' Was his response. I'd said I'd take a locally produced chocolate bar though to be honest i wish i'd told him not to bother after his rude response. Really unwelcoming and we certainly won't be returning. Haven't tried the chocolate yet so lets hope it isn't as bitter as its owner.

On a long drive to Snowdon, we were looking for somewhere to stop that fitted in with the beautiful countryside. In my view, this fits the spot perfectly. A small tea room and shop, with a little bridge over a stream. It is quite compact inside with a handful of tables and as well as the food serving area, there is also a shop selling cards and other gifts. The food was lovely, very nice coffee and tea and we finished with an ice-cream 'to go'.There is a public toilet over the road with a useful electronic information board that gives the weather and other information and the shop also had an interesting charity stall too. This is a small business, so it may get busy, in which case don't mistake 'efficient' for 'rude' :->Also, you need to plan ahead to know where it is, otherwise you will drive past before you realise it's there and it's hard to turn around on the main road that passes the café.

Then we realised it was a tea room, which fitted in with our hunger pangs. Cream teas are available, a variety of sandwiches, baguettes, cakes and jacket potatoes. These were all good value and tasty. The chocolates looked beautiful but were expensive. There is also a little section selling scarves, trinkets, candles etc.

Called in there a couple of times in the last week and were wowed by the place. If you like chocolate then this place is a must. The owner, his family and staff are great, friendly without being familiar. They specialise in chocolate but do a range of other snacks and meals. There is also a small shop with what can only be described as way above the normal souvenir shop tat. We bought a fabulous sculpture of a pair of Hares. Do look out for this place on your travels, you won't regret it.

When this first opened, they made chocolates on the premises. You could watch then molding the chocolate. If you ordered a hot chocolate they would ladle melted chocolate into hot milk. The smell was intoxicating. But today its a coffee shop that sells chocolates, so sad....

Popped in after a break in Wales, and remembering this place from last years drive past, and so thought this time i wont drive past I`ll actually call in for a coffee and a cake. Anyway we walked in to find a pleasant young lady.. and some yummy looking chocolates. I asked the price of a bar of chocolate and I got a rather grumpy, unfriendly reply from a man sat behind me reading a paper. So I assumed he was the owner. Anyway, I didn't let his demeanor put me off... I purchased a black coffee... (quite nice) a bar of chocolate and a box of reduced coffee flavoured Turkish delight. We went and sat outside which was rather delightful... over the little bridge and sat by the river while my 6 year old daughter played in the field. My daughter however, needed the loo, so I popped back inside, and asked if we had to use the toilets across the road or if the establishment had any? I was told again rather gruffly... "across the road".... so I asked politely if I could leave my coffee on a table...? didnt hear any reply, so left it anyway.. and went over the road. Came back, sat inside this time and finished my coffee... No conversation from either him or the girl who initially served me. I sat there and thought to myself... If I ran this place I`d be making conversation.. inquiring if passing through, or been on holiday etc etc...But none of that.. just silence. Disappointing.. as if the owner made an effort the place could be a little goldmine. The cakes looked divine I must say.. and the menu prices were pretty standard..My top tip for him would be to take lessons in how to be welcoming, friendly... and how to smile! He gave me direct eye contact, without a single word or smile.. very disconcerting & off putting for most. Not me though.. water off a ducks back! BUT I wont be calling back. Unless he reads this and takes my points on board and tells me i`m welcome back anytime I`m passing though... As always love my little cafes and watering holes when i`m out and about! Don`t we all? Thank goodness for Trip Advisor I say..:D

We visited here on the last day of a short break in Wales having driven past the sign a few times, and it was definitely a good idea! The cafe was something very different, and the hot chocolate was great - almost like the really thick hot chocolate you get in Spain.

I went here on the way home from holidaying in wales ,we were all in need of refreshments my son was very excited as he loves hot chocolate ,however when we ordered we were abruptly told that the hot chocolate was not appropriate for children and the man ,whom I presume to be 'Roy' refused to serve it us ,it was most embarrassing and upsetting for my son ,there was no sign saying that children aren't welcome ,I would never return!!

We were staying on holiday near this place and wandered down on the Sunday morning to suss it out and peruse the menu displayed outside. Liking what we saw, we decided that we would definitely return later in the week. We returned the following day, Monday, when unfortunately, it was closed - typical of our luck! However, lured by the tempting array of hot chocolates, we duly returned later in the week. I sat at a table outside whilst my husband looked at the collection of second hand books for sale. Having previously seen people being served, I assumed that someone would come and take our order. Not the case. I waited and waited, trying to catch the owner's attention. Eventually, I asked him if I had to order inside and he replied yes but rather begrudgingly took my order anyway. We had two of the gourmet hot chocs and two toasted teacakes. The latter were brown teacakes, which is quite novel and made a lovely change, bit of a hot cross bun flavour to them. There was also plenty of butter which again is unusual but was most welcome. Both items were first class, eaten in lovely surroundings. I went into pay, waiting whilst he served ice creams to another customer but broke off from serving them to take my money. I did feel a bit of an inconvenience! There is a small selection of random gifts, but nothing different from the usual fayre. I feel that displaying a notice alongside the notice stating that toilets are across the road (!), requesting that customers place their orders inside, would be beneficial to all parties.

We popped in to the Riverside Chocolate House after having driven past it for a few years. It was a beautiful sunny day so we were very happy to sit outside with our dog. I will NOT be visiting again, the man who served me who I believe was the owner was very rude. I bought some chocolates, a variety as a gift for my father and had a cup of tea. The chocolates were average and the cup of tea was lukewarm. It seemed to be a total inconvenience for the owner to serve me, hence I will not be visiting this place again, far better to call into the farm shop further on where the food is fantastic and the staff are really nice.

It was only by chance that we turned down the side road and found this gem. Nestled by the river with shoals of tiny fish, we sat outside and were served a delightful tea. The home made chocolates are amazing and there are books for sale if you need holiday reading.

The Riverside Chocolate House is a jewel in the crown for Pentrefoelas and the surrounding area.Situated just off the main A5 to Betws y Coed, from the outside it looks just like a traveller's visitor centre but inside is a very different story.Once inside, your attention is drawn to the fabulous hand made chocolates which are always on sale. Luscious flavours, such as melon, cointreau, tiramisu, coffee and walnut, strawberry, to name just a few , are presented in rows, with a spectacular choice. There are even chilli chocs !! You can choose to buy loose chocolates or a boxed selection of your choice, or one of the ready filled boxes. Whatever the occasion, the proprietors will be delighted to advise you.Afternoon teas and light lunches are also served in the small and friendly tearoom. The day's specials are always displayed on the blackboard and the choice varies regularly. The star attractions include the deep dish apple pie, which is the best we have ever tried. You can have it with custard, cream or ice cream ! People visit regularly just to enjoy this delicious dessert. Toffee and pecan cake, coffee and walnut, chocolate fudge cake rhubarb crumble and a host of other delights are regularly amongst the choices on the changing menu. Home made soup is a firm favourite with visitors, jacket potatoes with tasty fillings and salad, toasties and tea cakes are always available.Beverages include the famous Hot Chocolate Heaven, which is made with real chocolate, not powder. There are a range of teas, coffees and decadent syrups to add to your latte etc. There are also gifts on sale - pottery, toys and ornaments. Also clocks, wall display plaques and a lot of other pretty temptations,as well as second hand CDs and Books..The proprietors know their trade inside out and excel at customer service and high standards in all respects of their business, They will give local travel advice for walks and places of interest and know the surrounding area well.On a nice day, you can sit outside and eat and drink by the pretty river bank.It is well worth visiting the Riverside Chocolate house. We became regulars several years ago and would recommend dropping in and sampling the delights to everyone. If you have a large party, it would be advisable to telephone and warn the owners in advance, as it is a small establishment and the tea room can fill up very quickly, especially at weekends and during the school holidays. If visiting the Pentrefoelas / Betws y Coed area of Gwynedd, any time of year, do call in and enjoy this unique experience !

Cosy cafe. Not many tables and can get quite busy. Staff friendly and helpful. Nice bit of music in the background. Breakfast was nice but would have been good to have the option of a poached egg. Only option was fried. Enjoyed my milkshake and my partner enjoyed his coffee. Fair value for money given the tourist area. No parking directly outside but carparks closeby and road parking a way up the road.

Tried to charge for a squeeze of Costco ketchup on my son’s chips after I spent £15 on drinks and chips. It’s easy to spend my hard earned money ANYWHERE else. Usually really like going out of my way to support local independent business that go the extra mile to attract more tourists to the area…. Won’t be coming back here unfortunately. Shame as the location is great. Perhaps this is a little petty, but I thought it just plain mean.

This is just the most wonderful place..! Afternoon tea today - their own-blend leaf tea was to die for. Best "cuppa" we've had in a long time. The fixed-price afternoon tea came with our choice of sandwich from the main menu, a choice of home-made cake, and an extremely generous portion of bara brith. scones & Welsh cakes. Do this at least once in your life. The quality is exceptional as is the customer-service - real nice people working here. Vert traditional tea-room setting - about 20 covers inside? Seating also available outside and their are quite extensive trails up & behind the property to walk off some of the carbs ;) If you're visiting the Conwy Valley this needs to be on your list.
