Went slightly out of way to stop to charge here and was surprised to see there are no toilets (at least none that could be accessed at 6pm on a Friday in January). Not a pleasant surprise after a 4 hour drive.
We were too distracted by painfully full bladders to enjoy the milkshake vending machine which I had hyped for the kids.
The place looks great online and is probably a gem when fully open.
They need to make this clear on the website - at the moment they clearly display toilet icons on their homepage.
There are no options nearby.
We had dinner here on Saturday night and it’s very good
The interior decoration is based on racing car memorabilia and won’t be everyone’s favourite but the food and service are good
The food prices could be better but they are not excessive
Recommend
Was going to stay one night in the motorhome but was made really welcomed by the the staff and the locals we decided to stay another night
Highly recommend not doing any food at the moment but said we could bring in our own
Reading the reviews and the comments about this establishment serving the best breakfast in wales we decided to give it a try whilst visiting the area in our motorhome.
Entering the cafe to ask for a menu and about eating inside with our dogs i stood around waiting for a waitress to make contact but was completely ignored, not a good start. I eventually spoke to a young lady who advised me where to sit.
I went to order at the till and watched a lady cooking at the griddle, to see her throwing full rounds of bread into deep fat fryers was quite off putting along with the piles of bacon bubbling away in white salty foam,I would call it lazy cooking.
Maybe we should have give it a miss at this stage?
The breakfast was served in a timely manner, at best I would describe it as a greasy spoon meal with low quality ingredients cooked with no care. The bacon served was covered in black bits from a dirty griddle. Nothing like what we read in the reviews.
Such a shame as the setting is absolutely perfect for a cafe.
This place is a bit strange. Bit too ‘new age’ for us. Clothing on sale quite ‘samey’ perhaps South American. Musty smelling old chapel building. Glad it’s in use. Loved the wooden tables in the cafe though, whole tree slices. Didn’t hang around for food/drink.
The Christmas lunch menu for vegans was vegetables, vegetables and more vegetables. One option for a main was an aubergine cutlet, that I dislike, and even though a nut roast is served on a Sunday, the cafe was not prepared to serve anything with protein. Vegans usually like well balanced cuisine and that a replacement for protein in vegan food is beans, lentils, nuts, avocado & quinoa. But none of that that was on offer. And, the vegetable meals cost the same as the choices given for carnivores! Most of the bread on a daily basis is white only therefore without any nutrition.
This cafe is picture perfect & if my memory is correct dates back to 13th Century.
It is right in the centre of Aberdaron with lots of outdoor seating.
We had a dog with us, so sat outside. Tables & seating are getting to the point that they could do with a bit of refurbishment.
We had a coffee, cold brink & Bakewell tart. All were good & would revisit.
My family have been visiting for over twenty five years or more, we have stopped here earlier in the year and visit every time we are in the area and have never been disappointed.
The food continues to be amazing and we really enjoyed it on our last visit. But unfortunately we will not be returning, which is really sad. Our last visit was spoiled with the poor customer service delivered by the staff, we were made to feel not welcome and there was a couldn’t care less attitude about the evening.
We ordered a bottle of wine with our meal, which was promptly plonked on the table with two glasses. No, should I open it for you, would you like to try it? Nothing not even a smile.
The food was delivered in the same miserable fashion, no smiles, no would you like any sauces, just thrown in front of you. There was no follow up during the meal, is everything ok, hope your enjoying your meal?
We were not on our own, all other diners were seemed to be treated the same way.
Miserable un-interested staff.
The most amusing part of the whole experience, was they had the cheek to put a service charge on the bill !!!
Thankfully the receptionist removed it automatically before we were presented with the bill.
Why would we want to pay to be felt unwelcomed !!
Unfortunately that will be our last visit, end of an era.

Delicious authentic freshly prepared food, myself husband and 2 young boys really enjoyed this Thai meal while on holiday in Wales. Highly recommend five starts all round.
Afternoon tea- the service was very good, staff friendly and attentive. The afternoon tea comes with everything for one person on a platter which is not to my preference but not a huge issue. The two finger sandwiches were good and I would have enjoyed more. There was a selection of cakes, the nicest being the opera cake. They offer boxes to take away what you are unable to eat which is a nice touch. It was a nice afternoon : I had been there for tea two years ago and that was a great experience and the food then had been fabulous.
