Four of us waited over an hour for very poor food, which was a shame as the waiter was lovely and engaging. Two curries, pasta and a burger all took around an hour to come, we were quite sure two were ready meals decanted into different bowls. Pasta really was disappointing and everything was vastly overpriced for the quality. Chips were frozen! Avoid the food and just have a drink (although there was a distinct smell of mould in the restaurant area)

We just finished a long walk up into the hills and decided we had earned a beer. There aren't many places around this area as it is very rural but this place proved perfect and we would definitely go back. It is a traditional Pub and the bar room is very cosy and had a lovely fire roaring as it was a cold day. There is another room with a pool table, dartboard and so on but we wanted to keep warm so stayed in the main room. They have a really good range of local beers and they were well priced and delicious. The service was very friendly indeed and we felt at home and enjoyed our time there very much.

Called in for lunch on a very wet and windy day, first impression was cold inside, though a log fire was burning it didn't heat the pub, looked as though fire grate hadn't been cleaned out for ages. The place was cold. Only us in the pub understandable due to weather.Man sat by fire on laptop , not sure if he was the owner but barely acknowledged us. Lady serving at bar was friendly. Husband ordered fish and chips, it was a small portion of fish with skin on, so fiddly. I had wild garlic and walnut pesto pasta. It was only just warm and the dish was cold. I asked for it to be heated up, which was done. Left about a third as was something like a student might put together if on a budget ( no offence to students )Is it difficult to serve food on hot plates? For the price charged both meals were very mediocre and was not good value. Ladies toilet basic but no handwash in dispenser. Our experience here was not good and would not recommend or return.

Last minute booking on a cold wet night, food was ok,far too much choice on menu which is a huge red flag to quality, most things must be frozen,we only ordered mains and it took ages to come, almost an hour, our fault for asking for well done steak apparently!biggest isdue was how cold the place was, made it really uncomfortable to wait for our meal, and why oh why don't pubs make their own chips..frozen chips immediately make your meal mediocre,

If you’re on your holidays, you will regret going here so please don’t waste your time or money! From the moment you walk in, you are greeted with the stench of mould and sat in an uninviting, cold room where you’re unable to remove your coat. The plaster from the fake wooden beams have holes in and there is mould climbing up the walls. This is not a beautiful country pub in the slightest and has been shockingly abandoned. Mould is a common theme at this pub, as there was white mould in my partners drink and the bathroom was covered in it alongside a broken toilet lock and fallen off taps. The stench of it when eating is also incredibly off putting. In relation to the food, it was presented on broken mats, the fish was cold and the chicken was of awful quality (I did not eat it). It was grey in colour and had clearly been frozen. The sides were served in rusty pots, this cannot be happening in a pub nor restaurant. Health & Safety checks required. We really could not wait to leave here and was in and out within an hour. Please don’t go here if you’re on your holidays, you will really regret it!

We have been staying in the Village for 3 nights. Visited the pub each night for a drink and always felt very welcome. On our last night we had a meal which was great. I am a coeliac and the lady who served us was very knowledgeable and helpful. I had proper fish and chips for the first time in years. They made gluten free batter and cooked my food in a separate fryer. Amazing. We all enjoyed our food (even my fussy daughter) and had a lovely evening.

Stayed for 2 nights in camper in carpark. Quiet and spacious despite not being large (2 campers max per stay) with some outside seating. Travelling total 3 nights in Wales and spotted this one due to its similar hobby passion and proximity (just on outskirts of south snowdonia park). Food was awesome, eat both nights with different dishes and did not disappoint (starters, mains, desserts) drinks equally varied. Games room with pool, darts and games. Kids were happy. Friendly locals, quite a few fellow visitors, Staff were friendly and owners very welcoming and accomadating. Even laid breakfast on when pre booked, which again was great. Walks and Views around this area are sublime. Overall, highly recommended place to go/stay. 10/10 for the bryn from us!

A lovely traditional country pub with beams and a welcoming real fire. There is an extensive menu I had the haddock in lager batter with chips and mushy peas. My friend had Bryn bata filled Welsh black beef, mushroom and ale casserole. It looked delicious. It also came with chips and some vegetables. The menu prices on the website could do with updating. The pub is dog friendly. The landlord had a good sense of humour. We will definitely be coming back.

The inn is a pretty basic country-inn, but don't be distracted by that. The food was outstanding. Simple, but so so so good. Have any of the roast meats. :) Top tip - If you are following your satnav here... actually have a look on Google Maps... the inn sits on a really good tarred road. You DO NOT have to use the single track goat path that the satnavs seem to favour!

Wow, just wow! We were struggling to find a local pub to where we were staying in Sarnau, until we stumbled on this place. It’s a bit out of the way from Bala but I’m so glad we went. The couple that run the pub and B&B are amazing and very attentive. The gluten free menu is brilliant and they have separate fryers for chips etc. Only comment is to be extra careful for coeliacs as I did end up with bread on my plate with my prawn cocktail, which I quickly gave my wife. Gluten free beers are non existent here, but the gin is great. The portions are HUGE so make sure you’re hungry, the lamb is beautiful and the beer is too.Meals come out very quickly, so I guess they are made and frozen in advance, but that’s absolutely fine if they taste this good!Make sure you go here, I promise you you won’t be disappointed.PROS- gluten free menu- service- foodCONS- the male owner sits in the corner letting the wife do most of the work, occasionally getting up. He’s lovely though, perhaps just had a bad day- no gluten free beer- food comes out almost too quickly

i travel a LOT and never leave a review unless really bad. here is my review dirty, the whole place smells bad, stale, like fat, Bedding had polyester sheets, pulled back i'm sure they had been slept in, i was too tired to care, and I know the owners would have been also and too far to travel back. Room SO hot we must have had one hours sleep, how much does a fan cost? Cat food, bowls, flaps, scratching posts, everywhere, I love animals and have dogs and birds but wouldn't have them all over a hotel for paying guests. Not sure why this hotel has won some sort of award for being dog friendly, no effort was made in the room whatsoever, we stayed in one previously which had a dog treat, a bowl, towels and a dog floor sleeping rug, but they charge £5 a dog for nothing! We paid £105 for this room. Owner gave a massive cheap treat to my 2 tiny dogs without asking if ok, they were both on special diets, i didn't wish my dogs to eat this, fuming that she (night) and he (morning) didnt ask if ok, and just gave them. Breakfast, was ok, one and half mushrooms was a bit mean, we paid £105 with the dogs for the night. We didnt have cereal as i was worried incase the house cat had drank from the jug, as it was left open on the table. All i had was poached eggs. toms and one mushroom and couldn't get out the place quick enough. I wouldnt have written this review had I not been greeted by the kettle in the room. I work in a hotel and a kettle in that state is unforgiveable.

Had 2 night stay last Friday/Saturday and ate in the restaurant 2nd night. My husband had the ‘Bryn Bara’ which is one of their specialty dishes and this was really delicious. The landlady Linda is a wonderful host and made us feel very welcome right from the start. After eating we sat by the lovely warm fire in the bar and had a very lively night with all the locals who were fantastic singers, worthy of being in a choir!

Whole family ordered Welsh lamb Sunday roast. Meat was nothing special, gravy from a packet and vegetables bleak and unexciting. Like my old mother said, at least the good was warm.

Had an enjoyable lunch here,as it was quite late in the afternoon we had the place to ourselves. Homemade shepherds pie with plenty of meat and fresh vegetables was very tasty and my husband enjoyed the sausage and mash.THere is quite a varied menu and reasonably priced. Lovely old building with a small area outside to eat. Friendly staff, would definately recommend this place and we will certainly be visiting again.

Fantastic atmosphere. Very welcoming and friendly staff. We stayed in the nearby Bryn Melyn Cottages and were a large group of 17. They accommodated us with ease. We ate there three out of the six nights because it was so good! The food is freshly cooked to order and we tried most things on the menu between us and everything arrived hot and delicious each time- I don't know how they do it?! The childrens' plates were empty after each meal and there were rave reviews for the handmade chicken goujons. A dairy free version for one of the children each time was not a problem either. They also provided bags for each child on arrival each time that had colouring and other activities. Wholeheartedly recommend a visit or two or three!

We ate here as a family group and so there was a fair selection of different items from the menu. There was much to like. The service was friendly and good and a varied menu. However, a couple of people had pasta and this was so overcooked as to be almost inedible. Vegatables were also overcooked. The beer was rather flat. So it didn't deliver on the key things. Could have been an off day.

We were passing through the area on the way to the coast and after seeing the reviews we decided to stop to eat. We both had the Sunday roast and the food was quickly served. It was adequate at best and presented without any frills. The veg were forgotten and only received once we asked at the bar. These had definitely been microwaved. Good value for money but nothing special.

Perfect country pub, something for everyone on the menu, rapidly expanding gin selection & dog friendly. Watch the sun set over the valley in summer or chill by the open fire in winter. Perfection!

Having read reviews online, I decided to call in for lunch with family, I'm so glad I did. We were warmly welcomed as we approached the bar and tried their excellent bitter, it was so good and it reminded me of real ale from my youth. We opted for fish and chips, which was freshly cooked. Crisp batter, well cooked and hot. The coffee was freshly brewed and in a large cafeteria for one and was of a very high quality. I've already recommended this venue to several friends who frequently pass this way. Well worth stopping if you are travelling this way.

The four of us called here for lunch with our two dogs. We were made welcome as soon as we walked through the door, with the dogs being given a chewing stick! There was a good range of beers and lots to choose from on the menu. The meals were freshly cooked and service was prompt. The landlady and landlord were very friendly and photos were taken of our dogs for the new "doggy wall"!!
