Well if that is the attitude towards paying customers, then I will not bother coming back or recommending you to any one else. There are plenty of other cafes to choose from for bikers who are out most days wanting refreshments during a long day.

Called in after a hike. Large car park which is only for customers not walkers etc (there are other places to park nearby). Wasn’t massively hungry so had a toastie and salad which was nice but the views made the visit as it’s overlooking the lake (as the name rightly suggests) with the mountains all around. Was lucky it was a sunny day and could sit outside and enjoy it. Polite staff.

Popped in for breakfast before our long drive home to Leicester from beautiful Wales. Did not disappoint. We arrived just as they were opening and promptly ordered 2 breakfasts. Decent portions, fried bread, eggs cooked to perfection, and to top it off stunning views of the lake and mountains. Friendly service and a decent price. Usually going here is a great experience but today we were told at 2.30 that they were too busy to take any orders. I don’t think we will be so inclined to drive out there in future unfortunately. Especially as it’s likely to get busier in months after January!

Visiting in December didn't do this place justice. I bet its beautiful in the sun with the views. We stopped for a coffee after a long drive on our way North. Reasonably priced, menu looked nice and quite busy which is always a good indicator. Like a "greasy spoon" type Cafe with locals & workmen visiting too. Obviously good food. Take and pay with cash to support local as they pay for using cards.

We had just spent the night underground at the Deep Sleep Experience. The day before we had been in for a brew and seen they opened from 9 with a breakfast menu. The Lakeside did not disappoint after a night underground their breakfast was fantastic, filling, fresh, piping hot and a good size portion. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Lovely location and really lovely staff. Popped in for coffee & cake and staff kindly allowed us to stay after the intended closing time. Coffee was lovely and cakes were nice enough… but was a bit shocked at £23 for 3 coffees & 3 modest sized pieces of cakes (my fault for not checking prices before ordering). Enjoyed, but felt it was a bit pricey for what we received 🫣

Great place for comfort food with a view. Service was friendly and atmosphere inviting. The food(burgers were yum!) was tasty, portions generous and at reasonable prices.

A group of three of us got off the train here for lunch before walking back to the Oakley Arms. Two had coffee/cakes which were served over the counter. I foolishly ordered a bowl of soup which took ages to arrive and, to be honest, was a bit tasteless. Worth going back I think, but only for a hot drink and a cake.

we first visited this lovely establishment last year but as we weren't aware it was dog friendly we just had a sarnie in the car which was lovely. Today we are going home from our holiday and it's miserable so decided to go in for breakfast. We had the large breakfast and it has got to be the best breakfast we've had the pleasure of eating. We had two sausages, two eggs, two rashers of thick bacon, fried bread, toast, beans and tomatoes with a mug of coffee or tea included. my partner had two mugs of tea and I upgraded my coffee to Americano and it was perfect. Staff are welcoming and friendly and the whole place feels like home it's lovely. Toilets are also well maintained and spotless. Will definitely be back.

We had a great time at this cafe. We went in just before 12. Luckily we got to see the steam train go past too. Food was fab, we had breakfasts, my daughter had the Kiki special which she loved! (Also our dogs name) There was 9 of us and 3 dogs. Toilets were clean. We will definitely be back.

Text: Have been here many times before in the past and have always been happy with the food and service. Haven’t been for a while due to work so as we were in the area today though we’d pop by. And we were not disappointed, the staff are so busy but are always nice and friendly and go out of their way to please, the place was spotlessly clean, and the food was great and a good selection of cakes to finish off. Well done guys, you need a pay rise. Gwych

Upon entering the questionable establishment, we were met with a rude waiter and a clear hatred towards the English. The staff were so poor I doubt they could even make a wish let alone a half decent coffee. Coffee was served in a mug with stains all down the side and dried filth. The waiter didn’t know their own table numbers, not sure why they needed it when we had no table service! Definitely not worth spending a penny of your hard earned money on this “cafe”.

A lovely spot to have lunch. The cafe was busy on arrival but very friendly and our dog was welcome in the front part of the cafe. Our meals were lasagne and chips and the chicken strips with coleslaw and chips. Great portions (too big for me to finish). Quick and friendly service, and good value for money. Will definitely use again.

When we got here it was super busy with bikers (which we normally are) and visitors. All I can say is thank you...given how busy you, service was friendly and so lovely! Toasties are amazing and proper chips! We will definitely be back again

Nice sunny day so I decided to go for a motorcycle ride, this café is on one of my favourite routes and I have stopped here a number of times in the past, this time I must say I was disappointed 😞 I wanted something to eat and a coffee, the coffee was good but I decided to go for a cheese burger instead of my usual cake, unfortunately I made the wrong decision the burger arrived quickly but oh dear it was thin and dry with a craft cheese slice on the top and no onions, ithe burger wasn't hot enough to melt the cheese and I was forced to put sauce on it (something I don't usually do ) to add some taste to it, should have stuck to the cake.

Not a bad little place to sit and look at the nice views outside despite the rain, nice atmosphere and friendly staff - but unfortunately the food really wasn't great. Imagine the cheapest most tasteless baked beans with a thin tomato sauce slapped on the plate with some warmed up tinned tomatoes, not very crispy fried bread going soggy from the tinned tomatoes, with a sad looking egg on top, all seemingly unseasoned. The bacon and sausage wasn't too bad at least. The toast seemed to have margarine rather than butter, so pretty tasteless. Such a shame. Cakes looked good so would probably go back for them and a cup of tea, but sadly not for the breakfast. It wasn't at all busy either so not sure what happened. Maybe just a bad day.

Myself and my partner came here for brunch. It’s a cozy cafe with a lovely view of a hydro lake and mountains. My partner had bacon, eggs & beans on toast with coffees and two orange juices. The whole lot came to £18 which is brilliant! Lovely cafe food, don’t get me wrong some of the food is frozen but it’s still good quality. This is the 2nd time we have eaten here and on both occasions its been excellent. It always clean and warm and the staff are very friendly and attentive.The menu is massive for a cafe and is actually more like a bistro.The food quality is great and well cooked and the value is brilliant.There is plenty of free parking outside and views over the reservoir are lovely there are also a few walks up to the higher of the two reservoirs.Highly recommend this place and we will defo be back.

Visited for breakfast with husband and our dog, what a great find this was. I had a small breakfast, which was defo not small and my husband had a mammoth breakfast which really was as big as it sounds, both of which with a good mug of tea, just perfect. This is a place where you will get a fantastic, good quality breakfast for a brilliant price. Lovely staff, nice welcome and a breakfast to last you the day, well worth a visit.

I stopped here on a Saturday morning and found the place quite busy with walkers, bikers and day trippers in cars, the food menu was varied and quickly served as there was 4 staff working.

We have been here several times for both breakfast and lunch, all our family love both the food and the atmosphere. There has recently been a programme of redecoration, and it hasn't detracted from the feeling of the place at all. The food is excellent, with a huge choice, and the prices are very good. Give it a try.

A warm welcome, an extensive menu with something for everyone, well priced, very happy to adapt to individual preferences, swift service, food cooked to order immediately, and very very well cooked and presented. The best all day breakfast I have had in years, and the family's choices all equally good. This place is a gem. There should be more like it.

Stopped here for breakfast before our Go Below trip. I ordered the "Small Breakfast", not sure what comes with the big breakfast but the small was plenty big!

5 star rating for our experience today. 24 people in classic cars descended on the cafe at lunchtime and our pre ordered food was ready and waiting for us at the time we arranged all perfectly cooked and presented by happy smiling staff who could not do enough to please us.

had breakfast all week at this cafe, never disappointed . staff very friendly quick service, food always good and well cooked at a very reasonable price. had a couple of sandwiches to take out as well, lovely fresh bread and well filled. and to add to all that a wonderful scenic place to eat outside if the weather permits

The views were stunning and the food was quite nice but unfortunately it cannot be said that the staff were very friendly or welcoming. Will not go again.

Women that served us miserable seemed stressed told us she didn’t have enough bread out for three sandwiches, however then did serve the food quickly, sat outside in the sun then another girl comes out says to another customer I don’t have time to come out with your food, Nice place and nice food clean cafe with lot of potential shame about some of the staff apart from the older lady who was very polite

Having read some of the reviews you would think it was expensive here, it is in fact one of the cheapest places we eaten at whilst on holiday. That said the quality was perfect! They are more than happy to swap and change items on your breakfast. You can't really complain at a full breakfast for £5 with coffee or tea! Those that complained about grease or too much spread, it's a cooked breakfast that's pretty much what you get anywhere else. Our youngest loved it as did I and my wife. Definitely recommend the "Kiki special" cooked breakfast with chips and a turkey dinosaur I am a child at heart

Great place for breakfast, our Great Dane loves it and so do we. Plenty of parking and beautiful scenery.

This is truly a find. A simple cafe serving nourishing food. It’s so reasonably price you cannot grumble if the chips are not home made. Huge selection of meals although I recommend asking what’s home made as they are the best. Lovely bread for the sandwiches and a choice of jackets and salad instead of chips. Friendly and fast service and a view to die for. Great parking and child and pet free. Just what you need when taking a break from a great walk in the mountains

Visited today. Ordered the big breakfast - found the food overly greasy. Toast supplied with a layer of some sort of spread looked like it had been put on with a trowel! - Disgusting!

There's nothing pretentious about this cafe. Basic, down to earth, everyday food at realistic prices. The service is good and the staff are pleasant.

This wasn’t the first or the last time I will be visiting the lakeside cafe. It is situated at the foot of the Moelwyn mountains opposite a lake where you have panoramic view from inside and a large seating area outside. Dogs children everyone is made welcome by the friendly staff. The food is simple tasty and so reasonably priced. The toilets are clean and warm which is rare these days. A great place to refuel if going on walks or worth a drive if you just want to sit and enjoy the views. They also make a great coffee.

Not our first visit and not our last! Always found excellent food and service at a very reasonable price. Recommended.

On a weekend trip we used the cafe a number of times. Great selection on menu board, piping hot, tasty food served quickly by friendly staff. Leek and chicken pie was superb.

Brilliant night out with superb food, wonderful atmosphere and great musical entertainment. Would highly recommend this to anyone lucky enough to be in the area when they have another.

Amazing night at Greek Evening yesterday. Wonderful food, music and atmosphere. Couldn’t recommend highly enough, excellent. I’ll look out for next one!

A fantastic location, with plenty of parking. Realy biker freindly, and a great selection of all day breakfasts, "The Boss" breakfast really lives up to its name, 2 x eggs, bacon, sausage, and beans, hash brown, tomatoes, fried bread, toast and a mug of tea or coffee, all for £6! Tasty and great value. Just the thing on a winter Sunday ride out! I'll definitely be back soon.
