Called for Christmas dinner, really disappointing. The two plastic looking slices of turkey were tasteless, roast potatoes dry and one was not cooked through, pigs in blankets ok, sprouts good, very little other veg, I think I had one carrot and the gravy was like water. Took 25 minutes to arrive and the cafe was so cold that I was shivering even in a winter coat. The poor girl on the till/waiting tables and helping with the food was stressed and run off her feet therefore the service was abrupt. Come on Morrisons pull your finger out.
Ordered chicken sheesh kebab with fries it cost £11.50. The kebab wasn’t even cooked fresh they took it out of a hot saucepan ready cooked Salad was minimal and the chips were processed and not fresh . Just horrible warmed up chips. This should’ve cost £5 not £11.50 how they charge so much money.
We were at Brecon for the day, so we decided to call in to morrisons cafe for a cuppa and a bite to eat.
Unfortunately there was no hot food available due to a problem, nevertheless you could have sandwiches and cakes etc,
The wonderful Adam who was behind the counter was so helpful and very kind when I asked if I could purchase some porridge from the store and eat in the cafe, which he said would be fine.
Adam was very polite and supplied me with oat milk ( amazing) as a lot of the cafes, Greggs being one of them had "run out" of oat and soya milk earlier.
We had our food then realised our parking ticket was due to expire, and I still had my cup of tea to drink.. I asked if I could have a paper cup as I saw some by the coke machine, Adam asked me if I was taking it out, and supped me with a disposable cup for hot drinks , what a lovely, kind person ..A Credit to morrisons ..
Thank you again, Adam, for such perfect customer service 👏 🥰
On arrival, I was told I had a room in the wing, going through the entrance, the stench was overwhelming.
I had to contact reception as it was very cold in there with the heating only coming on when the timer kicked in which was not for another couple of hours. The Internet also failed to connect. I had hoped for a swim in the pool as advertised on the website but this too was closed.
Then there was the issue of the water pressure which made it practically impossible to have a shower, the water hardly trickled out.
The wing in my view is just not fit for purpose, it is the worst hotel experience I have had for many years.
We came to this cafe on the recommendation of a friend who comes here regularly on the way to Aberystwyth. We had 2 vegetarian breakfasts which were hot and tasty and a very good portion. We got 3 vege sausages, hash browns, beans, cooked tomatoes, eggs, toast and mushrooms. I altered my brekkie, removing the mushrooms and asking for scrambled egg which they did without any problems. Each brekkie was just £5.50 which we felt was very good value. The server was friendly and the cafe had a nice atmosphere. It is a basic no frills cafe but delivered what we had been told which was very tasty and good value breakfast. We were happy and would definitely go back. Especially at that price!
We went on a Monday hoping for a pasta dish or steak and all they had on the menu were pies or burgers no other options so be aware of that. Felt like they catfished us with the photos on here lol. I had bbq ribs (£15)off the specials menu which was very limited and they were very dry hardly any sauce on them but they did give a lot of ribs tbf. The chips tasted a little burned but the corn on the cob was lovely. Also the venison burgers are just a patty and sauce. The place was okay but if you are going to eat here just be warned that the menu is probably not going to look like the ones online and the pictures of all the different dishes probably won't be available. Place has a very lived in home feel. Also you had to go up to the bar to order but they don't allow you to pay until after you've had food which we thought was a little odd. Anyway, okay overall just don't expect a lot of variety.
When you go at lunchtime you expect there to be food. No pizza, shelves empty and when you ask you are told it’s all cooking. Surely you know when lunch time is and therefore you cook it so that it’s ready for lunch. Not even any baguettes ready. Such a shame!
We were staying close by for a walking holiday. The pub was cosy and very friendly. The pizza nights were excellent too on a Wednesday and Friday. We were made so welcome by the great landlord and hope to come back again
So last night I decided to park in the Lay by in Llanidloes were the riverside cafe is so I can get up in the morning chill out enjoy a cooked breakfast get my trailer from RPF head back to the yard then go home after being away from home for two weeks anyway I got there at 2330 there was 4 lorrys in there so I parked up tidy with plenty of room I got up at 0800 went to order my breakfast and a cup of tea and was met with a barrage of abuse from the woman in the Cafe in front of every one saying I had been parked there since 1700 yesterday and the lay by was privately owned and to get from there
Visited today… 13th Feb 25.
Great place for a lunch. Courteous staff. Very tidy , clean establishment. Excellent menu with a Specials board. Beer at very reasonable prices as was the food which was a good restaurant standard. Wide range of food on the menu. We had 4 mains plus puddings. We opted for 2 x Chicken curry, 1 Chicken Tagine and 1 Mackerel dish. I think the Chicken curry was one of the best I have ever tasted This was echoed by my colleague. The Tagine and the Mackerel dishes also had high praise. The very tasty Cheese cake was ordered for pudding x 4.
A great meal. The Bear is a treasure waiting to be discovered. We will certainly return.
Stayed with my two cocky cockers ! We were made very welcome. The room was perfectly comfortable and clean and met all of our needs. The pub restaurant was relaxed and comfortable. The food, especially the cooked breakfast was delicious too.
Perfect for dogs
We will be back !!
Thank you team dragon
A delightful spot next to the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal with outside seating and a childrens play area. They make it very clear that the car park is free to customers and inside ta large notice reminds you to register your car. The Sunday roast selection was ideal and a vegan option was provided. Service was quick and friendly with food in good portions and well cooked at a fair price. Plenty of seating and comfy chairs. Good welsh beers on tap.
The food here is really lovely. We attended after work for an evening meal, and we were all really impressed with the chef's food.
I don't usually eat vegetarian dishes, but I tried the wild mushroom linguine after it was recommended, and it was delicious.
We will definitely be eating here again when we are in the area.
