On arrival, I was told I had a room in the wing, going through the entrance, the stench was overwhelming. I had to contact reception as it was very cold in there with the heating only coming on when the timer kicked in which was not for another couple of hours. The Internet also failed to connect. I had hoped for a swim in the pool as advertised on the website but this too was closed. Then there was the issue of the water pressure which made it practically impossible to have a shower, the water hardly trickled out. The wing in my view is just not fit for purpose, it is the worst hotel experience I have had for many years.

Well, I had to Google this hotel and came across a review that absolutely slated it. Well all I can say is the author must have been at a different place!., Staff were very attentive, nothing to much trouble. Food was excellent even though I was part of a coach tour and menu was preset. Very good selections. Room was very comfortable and clean and well kept. Parking very good even able to get coach in OK. Nice little town with things to do & see in and around the area. Will be back later in year for another stay.

From the moment me and my husband walked in almost 18 months ago to book our wedding, Andrea (owner) greeted us with a warm smile and genuine interest in us as a couple. We decided before leaving the hotel we would be booking regardless of price. In the run up to our wedding, Andrea was always quick to reply to messages emails and even answering whilst on her holiday!! Nothing was too much trouble, anything and everything we asked for seemed like a pleasure for her. Rooms were booked and cancelled and rebooked numerous times by family members who needed to stay rooms were rearranged and extra beds added where needed with absolutely no quibble at all. The day before, we, as a family went to the hotel for a few drinks, to gather and spend time with family who had travelled, met by lovely staff who couldn’t do enough! All the rooms were A1, and any extra requests were met without charge. All of our guests including us were extremely pleased with accommodation. The food on the wedding day was outstanding! Catering for dairy, egg, gluten and even vegan and vegetarian! Out of 60 guests, not one complaint!!! The hotel was decorated beautifully, with exactly every detail we had requested. The day ran smoothly with Andrea’s assistance and organisation. Taking any potential stress away. All the staff were pleasant, helpful and extremely smart. A* service! Can’t wait to return! Would highly recommend the hotel Commodore for any occasion!

Do not eat at this hotel. The Christmas Day lunch (2018) was abysmal and a complete waste of money. If you complain in writing the owners do not have the courtesy to respond. Perhaps they will respond this!

Plenty of choice in the restaurant at reasonable prices. Breakfast was fruit, yoghurt, choice of cereals, choice of cooked breakfast and toast with jam or marmalade. Other meals: sandwiches, soup, main courses, and sweets etc.

Went to book for Sunday lunch for me and my 5 children, I only 2 of the Kids with me at the time, 1 was asleep in her pram the other is 14, as I was waiting I ordered 2 coffee's for us when the owner sent a member of staff to tell me to leave immediately, we weren't welcome and minors were not allowed. I also was going to ask about booking for xmas lunch and a spa day for my daughter & a room for my mum when she comes to visit for xmas. Disgusting, terrible, shocked that this is how locals are treated. Will NOT be recommending

Reasonable cooked breakfast. At least the sausage was cooked (unlike most hotels). Very tasty and varied fruit salad with a good choice of cereals. Freindly service. I did not eat here in the evening due to the poor reviews but the menu looked fine.

Advertised for £4-95 we thought we would give it a go. Well we ordered (there were 5 of us) waited about 40 minutes. When it arrived the portion was so small even a child would of complained! the veggies came in a dessert bowl.....one dessert bowl for 5 people! They were mixed frozen veg. We decided to have a cuppa afterwards and it took 3 waitresses to bring 5 cups and saucers........I know it was cheap but come on. Needless to say we won't be going there again.

I attended a Mid Powys Mind Members Day at the Commodore last year and the buffet spread provided by the Commodore Hotel was excellent - memorable - best I've had at any organisational conference. Well done Chef.

Have traveled, over the years, with several company's on at least 12 coach tours and this was definitely the best food wise. Choice of three on all courses, well cooked and plenty to eat. If your travel company is offering this as a base try it for yourself. I would return.

I had been told by friends who had visited several times before that the food was really quite good, so perhaps the bar had been set higher than it should for a deal that was based on half-board for a budget cost. The food seemed a bit routine, a British catering style that is undemanding, unsurprising, and soon forgettable. Really one step up from fuel food, but not a big step. And the breakfast arrangements seemed a comic sequence - there was cereal but no bowls, then when bowls appeared the milk had run out, etc... if you asked for toast it got delivered to another table but you got OJ... !

My partner and I were revisiting my old home in Llandod and were looking for somewhere for Sunday lunch. I had my eighteenth birthday party at the Commodore 30 years ago so we went there. Very poor. Cheap, less than a fiver, but it was largely inedible. Overcooked beef and chicken, soggy roast pots, overlooked veg and carrots from a tin. The Yorkshire pud was the only bit worth eating. The hotel itself has seen better days and the restaurant was like a throw back to Fawlty Towers in terms of decor. Needs new owners!

On a Motorsport weekend four of us went into the hotel and asked about eating in the restaurant. We were offered a meal in the foyer, sat around in the comfy sofas, or in the restaurant. We chose the restaurant as we preferred to sit and enjoy our meal. The lights were all off, and all the tables were laid for breakfast. This was at 7-15pm on a bank holiday Saturday. That should have rung alarm bells!Eventually we order, what we thought were four simple, and reasonably quick meals. Two steak and ale pies, a lasagne and pasta with chicken strips.Steak and ale "pies" eventually arrived after over 45 minute wait. Chips were overlooked and only warm. Lasagne arrived with over cooked dark brown, warm soggy chips, with peas and salad, and the smallest sized slice of disgusting microwaved lasagne ever. And who decideds if you would like salad cream? Surely you the customer? No, it arrived all slathered in Heinz or similar. The pasta arrived, and we were warned the dish was hot. The chicken "strips" were so over cooked you could have worn them on the bottom of your shoes for a week and they would not have worn out. The mushrooms were over cooked, and the spinach was an after thought. I feel very sorry for the poor receptionist who had the dubious job of taking our orders, and trying his very best, with no support from management at all.More customers arrived in the meantime, and we left leaving what we felt was enough of a donation towards the meal and drinks. We would have spoken to the receptionist had we been able to, however as he was the only visible member of staff on duty, he was struggling with visitors who has arrived to check into their rooms, which, I believe .......we're not available ! I would never ever recommend this hotel or restaurant to anyone at all. How on earth they expect customers to return or how they hope to make any money and have repeat business is beyond me and my fellow visitors.

I ordered and paid for 5 of us doing Christmas lunch, Never again.... waited nearly 50 mins for the food, and my little brother did not want the dinner so asked for a pizza, food arrived and the beef was salty, potatoes where under cooked and hard, the peas where cold and the gravy was like dish water, the pizza was a frozen pizza which paying £15 for was nothing more than a rip off, but to add insult to injury it was burnt underneath and on the top but in the middle was almost raw and soggy... clearly the oven was up way to high... i told them i wanted a refund as it was disgusting, i was told "noone else is complaining" and offered a £15 partial refund... not bad since it cost £115...

As an ex resident of Llandrindod and after a long journey I popped my head round the door of the Commodore Hotel desperate for the loo to be greeted by the owner with a stern expression and a 'what do you want? ' Needless to say she wouldn't let me use the loo and I had to search elsewhere. Later on my friends decided to have coffee in the hotel so hoping my experience wouldn't be repeated we enjoyed a nice caffitaire but when I asked for a takeaway coffee the server was rude and unhelpful. We never do takeaway coffee she said and marched off. On this occasion I was dressed pretty casually but I do a lot of meeting and accommodation bookings for my company and am always on the lookout for suitable venues. The Commodore missed a trick here, had they been charming and helpful I may have been able to bring a lot of business their way.

What a dark and dingy place this is! It's pitch dark in there! As I went in for a drink a man came out and asked me if I had a torch! On buying a pint I understood what he was on about, you don't need a torch you need a SEARCHLIGHT! IN MY 73 YEARS IVE NEVER BEEN IN SUCH A DARK PLACE! Like most people my age I have fading eyesight, doesn't the Owner realise this or doesn't he/she care? On going to the toilet I banged my head on a low beam, good job I have a good head of hair or i'd have had a nasty bump on my head! I am considering contacting Powys Health and Safety re - the matter. A man with a sore head!

Lovely ancient pub which has retained plenty of character. Many items of interest on the walls. The first room after the entrance is the most charming, where we enjoyed a lunch of faggots, burgers and salads, washed down with the local ale. No recorded music: congratulations! Lunch for three including drinks was a reasonable £62.65.

Not regarding the store but the Store Manager (if that's what you can call her) She's extremely prejudice towards people who are neurodivergent. This may seem bias but ask yourself why do staff keep leaving? Is it because they are expected to start early and finish late but not paid for it? Or is it that, they don't give out breaks so when you ask, she'd shocked and hurt by the message regarding it? Or maybe it's the constant persistence in calling neurodivergent people sloe and saying that because of any issues with health at all, they aren't fit for the job. Your attitude is disgusting, you are a despicable person and I feel sorry for the staff you step on who work under you. You don't have staff because of you. You are the problem. You kept my partner on for the festival and as soon as it's not busy, you get rid of him. I can understand if he isn't fit for the job, but to bully his neurodivergence and constantly belittling and calling him slow?

Recently visited here for breakfast with my family. The restaurant is small in terms of space and I can imagine if everyone had a trolley it would be hectic and cramped. Service was really good, couldn’t fault it at all. Food So, my boys and me both ordered the big breakfast, it was lovely presentation and given your in a supermarket cafe the food itself was lovely. My wife had scrambled eggs on toast which she said was lovely, the scrambled eggs didn’t look watery at all. Downside The only downside I have for the cafe is that the branded drinks are expensive, £1.09 for a can of Coke Zero to me is expensive. Overall we loved it and will definitely be back again
