A pair of slugs would be quicker serving here than the Staff on Xmas Eve and it wasn't busy either!

Not regarding the store but the Store Manager (if that's what you can call her) She's extremely prejudice towards people who are neurodivergent. This may seem bias but ask yourself why do staff keep leaving? Is it because they are expected to start early and finish late but not paid for it? Or is it that, they don't give out breaks so when you ask, she'd shocked and hurt by the message regarding it? Or maybe it's the constant persistence in calling neurodivergent people sloe and saying that because of any issues with health at all, they aren't fit for the job. Your attitude is disgusting, you are a despicable person and I feel sorry for the staff you step on who work under you. You don't have staff because of you. You are the problem. You kept my partner on for the festival and as soon as it's not busy, you get rid of him. I can understand if he isn't fit for the job, but to bully his neurodivergence and constantly belittling and calling him slow?

This Costa is like a visitor information centre! The staff are excellent and recommended local music festivals, campsites and even helped me find an optician! They are very friendly, chatted to everyone and seem genuinely interested in where you’re from etc. The coffee is good, standard costa-brand coffee.

The manager has a really bad attitude towards customers , she would suit a position in the army , no idea of how to greet a customer , the other lady that works there was fantastic and very chatty , the manager with the green hair made a great coffee but just keep her away from the customers she is a complete liability .

Just experiencing a few days exploring Brecon and the surrounding areas. Our visit was made all the better with a visit to this dog friendly Costa in Brecon. A lovely atmosphere with great staff ,a shout out to a lovely lady called Lucy who made us feel very welcome. Much more personal approach than most other Costa cafés. Lucy even provided a welcome to our dog which was a first for us at a Costa. We went back on two consecutive days just because of this lady's approach. The cakes and coffee were also beautifully made and presented . Thank you ,I'm sure we will be back again.

Do not go here. I was served a Cortado with only a single espresso. Total rip off. If I'd wanted a flat white in a fancy glass I would have ordered one.

A warm welcome awaits at this Costa. Our dog was allowed in and had a treat and we got our coffee nice and quick, plus we had a nice morning chat. Happy customers 😁

We went for the first time, just had 3 piece of Momo's and then they got a technical issue with their burner. And they couldn't cook anything for us

Brecon was a pit stop on our journey to Tenby. Costa is one of the better coffee chains The friendly staff, the reasonable coffee and OK snacks we’re just what we needed On the whole Costas across the country are consistent ~ rather than spending hours looking for somewhere that promises to be better we use COSTA.

Always good coffee, food and service,no paper cups here.Only downside tried to sell me a medium coffee, which is too much for me.(The small one holds about half a pint!)

Needed to go to the toilets as I was absolutely desperate!These were the closest toilets to me.Thank you so much Costa,convenient,clean.Toilets were great and immaculate.Staff were very friendly!I was suprised at the cleanliness despite its 2 hygiene rating,would only recommend this place to go to the toilet if you are absolutely desperate not to eat or drink because of the two hygiene rating.Aside from the two hygiene rating it did the job and it did it well.

Slow service food cold coffee took age to arrive not impressed

The counter had a few customers waiting to be served but as it was a new person on the till things were a little slow. Not a terrible inconvenience. However after paying for drinks they did not make them. The 2nd person on the counter left the new person on their own who was clearly overwhelmed. The queue kept building and there was no sight of the 2nd person. The newbie went looking for them and was nowhere to be found. Several customers walked out. Only after a manager turned up did the 2nd person go back to the counter. I then asked where our drinks where. To which I was asked, oh you haven't had them? The drinks were made by this somewhat sulky 2nd person and were not hot at all. I personally would not bother with this store at all. Plenty of other coffee shops to chose from in Brecon. I felt really let down.

Visited yesterday. It was busy but service was painfully slow. That’s not my real complaint though. Cutlery was filthy and I witnessed a member of staff drop cleaning cloths on the floor three or four times and the put them back on the counter🤢

A good place to stop for a break if you are travelling through this part of Wales.

Good coffee/tea and cold 🥶 drinks they do have snacks and some food I'd say good for a light bite

We love a costa, so while camping we ventured into town to have one. The barista was working alone due to team shortage, however, guest by guest he knocked it out of the park, working alone is tough especially with a busy shop, but he cracked on. Good on him and I hope the team shortage is sorted. The coffees were lovely, so quality was not impaired. Take care my man!

Location good - can park a couple of motorcycles outside and keep an eye on them 🙂.

A lovely clean and well maintained cafe with good quality coffee and food items. However, it is your hard working staff which are your best asset. Their customer service is exceptional, nothing is to much trouble. Literally its service with a smile. As they suggest excellent leadership comes from the top and your manager Mark certainly warrants this title.

We called in 3 times today whilst out enjoying this years Bells Of Brecon. The staff are absolutely amazing..they have been flat out all day today serving the busy crowds, and have been extremely polite, and have given 100 % cutomer service to everyone ..well done to the lovely Lauren, Mair, Lewis and the 2 hot boys Mark and Jamie 🤣 You are all certainly a credit to Costa. We will definitely be coming back in December.

Great Costa! Nice town centre Costa with three tables out on the high street. Really friendly staff and impecable service is a normality here. Standard prices for standard Costa fare. All comes with nice clean bathroom.

Same Costa service and product standards. It's set nicely in the town centre of Brecon so a good stop if out for a walk. Parking is hit and miss. Sometimes there's a space outside the shops on the main street but most often there's not and you might be best parking by the Brycheiniog Car Park and strolling back up. Either way once you're there its the same standard as any other costas.

They did my daughter's complicated order well. Enforced covid rules rigidly.

I regularly use costa coffee outlets and generally find them very good. Unfortunately the branch in Brecon is very poor by normal Costa standards. When my wife and I arrived there was only one person behind the counter and he was responsible for the whole range of services. In a few minutes he was joined by a colleague from somewhere in the building and a short while later a third member of staff arrived from outside. The member of staff who was behind the counter from the outset then busied himself making the drinks. Unless he was inexperienced then making coffee is not his forte. I was using using some of my accumulated free drinks and the youngest person found the task task difficult, necessitating assistance from the third member of staff. I was told that there were only paper cups but at least one member of staff didn't seem to understand. The coffees served were alright but there is a serious need for staff training to the usual Costa standard. When I next visit Brecon I will use an alternative coffee shop.

Stopped off on the way home. Had to wait for coffee as they were cleaning out. Was asked to move as they were cleaning extractor fan. Didnt ming that but wasnt so see when they hoovered the other fan close to the food with out covering it. Then fire alarm went off

Rubbish. Staff not socially distanced, one member of staff not wearing mask properly, hand sanitizer run out, mixed messaging in regard to obtaining a table. Will not be going there again. Take a lesson from Aberdare which is managed so well.

Stopped for a coffee, took a table outside, couldn't scan the code to complete track and trace, kept saying QR not recognised, after about 30 minutes a guy came out and asked if I'd be ordering as I'd been sat there a while, told him my problem with the scan not working, he then pointed to a totally different scan code which wasn't on the table I was sat at but on the door window, then it would not let me order, I then proceeded into the shop, where a lady behind the counter had no clue how I could order my drink using the app, so I told them what I wanted, ended up paying at the counter, asked for a takeaway coffee as I'd been trying to order for 45 minutes by this time and was a little annoying, took my drink to the promenade and relaxed there instead, not the best service but never the less, was a great coffee.

As a regular at this store we are very surprised to see these negative reviews. We feel for the staff as we have witnessed how rude some customers can be when asked to complete the track and trace. The staff are working for a franchised chain and are told what they have to do. They do it well and politely and always happy to help people that can’t use the app etc. The problems only seems to arise when they’re met with people with attitude, anti COVID, anti track and tracers and sometimes just rude people. It’s normal to track and trace everywhere where you sit and it is confusing as many places have different systems and levels of compliance but in Costa’s favour they’re one of the few doing it by the letter of the law. Chill out. Relax and have a coffee.

Quite astonished at some of the negative reviews on here. I go to this Costa several times a week and have always found staff to be diligent, pleasant and efficient. As for the Track and Trace they are simply doing what the organisation demands. It is irksome but they are protecting themselves and us.

It was just supposed to be a quick coffee stop en-route home after our week's holiday in lovely South Wales (not that there is ever anything quick about Costa but I digress...). We managed a very pleasant week eating and drinking out in South Wales and successfully negotiated all the vagaries and varying degrees of Covid-regulations until we got to Costa Coffee in Brecon. We are still struggling to really believe that it is now a legal requirement for EVERY member of a family group to provide ID to sit outside at a dirty table - surely it hasn't come to that? But apparently, it has in Brecon and in no uncertain terms and in a very unpleasant and rude manner! Even our 13-year-old was asked for ID! Bank card? No! Library card? Seriously?? No of course not! Then you can't sit down (although you can quite happily at other branches elsewhere in South Wales). Well, I know we are living in strange times but it seems Costa Coffee Brecon has turned into its own micro-police state. Not an experience we care to repeat ever again!

Small Costa, set up in the usual Costa style. Was clean and smart looking. Set up for Covid safety well. Reason for only 4 stars is because the staff were friendly but repeatedly got things wrong on orders. (My order and the 2 in front of me) Not sure if they were under pressure or just having a bad day etc.

Dreadful customer service! At 1610 my friend and I went into Costa for a coffee. We asked if the table and chairs that had been outside earlier could be put out for us as it was still 50 minutes to closing time. We were told they had been cleaned so couldn't go back out so we were offered a takeaway which we refused. We are both aged 70 and just wanted to sit and enjoy a coffee on our first trip out for six months so were really disappointed and angry. So much for the "hospitality" business being desperate to trade fully again.

Not quite the same having it on the wall opposite. Also a shame you can't use their facilities during the lockdown.

A nice atmosphere, pleasantly quiet and the staff were great. We were served by Katy & Callum who made the covid changes look effortless and almost normal. It was lovely to see them being so cautious & safe but making it feel so easy at the same time. Definitely a good choice for breakfast coffee & cakes!

771472933 The barista working in this store needs to be trained in manners, customer service and care and learn that the customer pays his wages. Covid is stressful enough and some people aren’t coping well with bullies. I went to sit down whilst my husband ordered my drink as my back was in pain. I was asked where I was going and told to get back in the queue. If my sons spoke to me like he did I would have sent them for a time out. Customer policy and rules can’t possibly be designed to turn someone into a tyrant. I would never return to this store and previous reviewers seem to be equally unimpressed! Coffee #1 a few doors down is much better customer service!

Go in most days as warm, friendly, excellent service, coffee great always. Really appreciate the efforts taken to make everyone included despite the difficulties that I have no doubt the staff face every day.

Wow!! Went in on Monday morning to grab a coffee on my way to work! Fast and fantastic is all I can say... the young barista who served me was amazing. So quick and efficient but yet so happy (especially at 8am on a Monday) If you want quick, efficient and happy service then I would definitely recommend this coffee shop! I’ll be going back again and again!!

Went to costa on the 25th feb, about midday. The member of staff was crying into my coffee and bad mouthing her co-workers. Was a bit weird, I just wanted my coffee.

We stopped off in the town for a coffee break and due to the poor weather settled on the first café we set eyes on. The coffee was the usual costa standard but the surroundings untidy. I understand that the location attracts a lot of hikers and this might account for the dirty floor. I don't dislike dogs but we were joined by a couple on the next table who had two dogs, we might not have chosen to sit where we did had they been in first. On walking further down the High Street we may have chosen somewhere else for our stop.

Being the coffee feind I am I decided to stop by Costa in Brecon to quench my thirst (and stop the caffeine cravings) after a morning of driving.The building is in a convenient location in the town centre and although small inside it has a charming and cosy feel.That's where the pros end I'm afraid.Coffee was OK but what struck me the most was the atmosphere. Although there was only one staff member there (that I could see) it was not overly busy and I was unnerved to the fact the lady was extremely upset while serving customers. Not only did I find this unprofessional but it makes me question her role as assistant manager or so her badge said. It's a shame that my thirst for coffee ended up with me writing this review as it's the first review I have made on TripAdvisor--but I felt it needed to be said. I hope the lady is okay, and I hope Costa Brecon will take the appropriate steps to encourage staff to act with professionalism and a sense of decorum in the future. Hopefully my next visit will be a more pleasurable experience.
