Recently visited here for breakfast with my family. The restaurant is small in terms of space and I can imagine if everyone had a trolley it would be hectic and cramped. Service was really good, couldn’t fault it at all. Food So, my boys and me both ordered the big breakfast, it was lovely presentation and given your in a supermarket cafe the food itself was lovely. My wife had scrambled eggs on toast which she said was lovely, the scrambled eggs didn’t look watery at all. Downside The only downside I have for the cafe is that the branded drinks are expensive, £1.09 for a can of Coke Zero to me is expensive. Overall we loved it and will definitely be back again

There is a sad monotonous predictably about most supermarket cafes. The cafe in Tesco Newtown manages to rise above the pack and deliver good food at a very reasonable price. I think it’s the bespectacled chef who clearly takes a pride in delivering the prescriptive Tesco menu to a standard unmatched by other versions of the same. I should know as I’ve tried a few of them from Wick to Weston. We are regulars here because it’s a bad idea to shop hungry.

First time using. Kids are for free and the food was good quality. We waited 5 minutes to be served and while I appreciate the young lad was working hard by himself; he should have turned around and advised he’d be with us shortly but he just blanked us.

Management need to make an executive decision to ban shopping trolleys from the eating area. On my last visit there were five women each with an empty shopping trolley taking up an inordinately large amount of gangway space and crowding the other users of the restaurant. There is absolutely no excuse or need for this lazy and single minded practice.

If you order a hot dog, like me, you are in for a huge disappointment. What you are likely to get is a roll with a burnt pork sausage that could damage your teeth and leave you with a burnt taste in your mouth. My advice is give it a miss and go somewhere else. Don’t waste your money.

Lovely friendly staff, gorgeous coffee, food is fresh and tasty, only down side is that the service can be very slow. Otherwise love it.

We had brought food from Tesco and decided to go in to the cafe to eat is as the weather was very windy outside, without even being seated for a minute we were told we had to leave as we weren’t payees we had to leave. I found this utterly rude and disrespectful as we had payed for food In Tesco just didn’t get anything from the cafe. We could have just been settling down and getting ready to order. The man who greeted us wouldn’t have even known if we were going to order food. We hope to get a refund of the things be brought as our service was clearly not wanted… very disappointed may have to contact manger if this problem is not resolved ASAP

Travelling in a motorhome, 16 days away visiting England and Scotland, last day heading home to Pembrokeshire, what better than a breakfast to set us up for the day. Have used Tesco, Newtown many times, plenty of parking spaces and a cafe. So arrived 8.45, supermarket full of staff, duty manager clearly enjoying a chat with staff members, no queues at the cafe, indeed no staff even visible at the counter. After 5 mins a polite "hello" results in a lady appearing at a service hatch, to gesture she's on the phone. No problem, at least we can look at the menu. After another 5 minutes she appears, a polite how can I help you. "Two breakfasts please" - " Sorry, I'm by myself, I can only serve you drinks" after a Victor Meldrew moment "I don't believe it" clearly lost on the assistant it was a reluctant plan B a meal deal! Our under worked catering assistant by now had managed to join the duty manager's gossip group, but clearly not to report our disappointment at not having a meal! Will we be detouring off the bypass to visit Tesco "superstore" Newtown on our next trip, definitely "NO!" And to add insult to injury after purchasing the two meal deals (which were good value, and tasty) the cashier then offered us a promotional free barista drink only at that store! My advice, see the sign "Newtown" just use the bypass!

Called in for a brunch snack yesterday lunchtime. The cafe was busy with most of the tables (socially distanced from each other) occupied. We found a table and ordered the ultimate breakfast bap each and a couple of coffees. The coffees came quickly but there was quite a delay in the baps so my friend chased it up with the staff. They apologised for the delay caused by staff shortages but they brought the brunch out shortly along with two complimentary coffees so we could still have a hot drink with our baps. Jane served us and was very attentive and thoughtful. The baps and coffee were spot on. Great staff, very friendly and thoughtful.

This cafe used to be well run, with good food and very competent staff. It is now hopeless. One can wait half an hour for a cup of coffee - and that when there are only two customers in there! They also cannot seem to get the order right and even take your money and fifteen minutes later say that they do not have the food ordered. Cannot face going there again.

Nice little cafe with good food and great staff. The store has a very welcoming, chilled out atmosphere (nothing like most supermarkets)...I could almost ditch the online shopping!

I visited during a trip through Wales for breakfast, as I knew I could rely on Tesco for a good meal. I attempted to "build my own" breakfast, but the assistant serving me did not appear to understand this option, so I settled instead for the big breakfast and made one or two tweeks to the selection. The food was good, served hot and the assistant very pleasant and keen to get things right. However, she was the only one in the cafe and could clearly not cope with the level of demand at 0830 in the morning, let alone at a later time. The result was that my anticipated 30 minute break lasted for well over an hour! If you're going to provide a cafe service, then at least try and staff the facility! Tesco need to really get a grip if they are to stop the apparent decline that has gripped them.

Drinks OK but toasted sandwich and panini where only toasted on one side and cold. No salad as you get in other Tescos. Poor value and would not eat here again.

This place is never busy when I visit but I wonder how they cope when it is with very few staff ; the coffee is nice & they do soya milk now- nice to see cafes catching up on that one; the staff are always friendly & not pretentious; the atmosphere is what one would expect from a supermarket cafe; its handy & as Tesco is so huge it's nice to sit after a shop there.

Went for lunch with a service user today, one poor woman cooking and on the till and c wouldn't mind but standing waiting to be served I was totally ignore. It would have been nice to be told I'm on my own at the moment if you can bear with me.......No none of that just ignored. Table s not cleared or wiped cutlery dirty on the whole a bad experience and certainly won't be going there again.

If you want a tea or coffee then you are quite safe but the food is best avoided. I occasionally have had a breakfast here and it was ok but recent changes in staff have seen a decline in quality and customer service. On my last visit I just wanted a few breakfast items and was staggered to be charged nearly £5 for fried bread, beans and mushrooms which I had i ordered on a previous occasion. When I challenged this the assistant said that I couldn't buy items individually and had to pay for a complete set breakfast. I walked out. Tesco need to do something about the cafe. If more than two people are in the queue then the wait times are horrendous. Other Tesco cafes are so much better. If you want to combine shopping with a cafe then Morrison's is a much better option. Otherwise go into Newtown where you can find a Costa, Evans the bakers , a Wetherspoons or Parkers.

Very often pop in to the cafe when shopping. The food is basic, the fish and chips are fresh cooked and excellent, probably the best in town! The staff are very helpful and friendly.

Lovely ancient pub which has retained plenty of character. Many items of interest on the walls. The first room after the entrance is the most charming, where we enjoyed a lunch of faggots, burgers and salads, washed down with the local ale. No recorded music: congratulations! Lunch for three including drinks was a reasonable £62.65.

What a dark and dingy place this is! It's pitch dark in there! As I went in for a drink a man came out and asked me if I had a torch! On buying a pint I understood what he was on about, you don't need a torch you need a SEARCHLIGHT! IN MY 73 YEARS IVE NEVER BEEN IN SUCH A DARK PLACE! Like most people my age I have fading eyesight, doesn't the Owner realise this or doesn't he/she care? On going to the toilet I banged my head on a low beam, good job I have a good head of hair or i'd have had a nasty bump on my head! I am considering contacting Powys Health and Safety re - the matter. A man with a sore head!

Not regarding the store but the Store Manager (if that's what you can call her) She's extremely prejudice towards people who are neurodivergent. This may seem bias but ask yourself why do staff keep leaving? Is it because they are expected to start early and finish late but not paid for it? Or is it that, they don't give out breaks so when you ask, she'd shocked and hurt by the message regarding it? Or maybe it's the constant persistence in calling neurodivergent people sloe and saying that because of any issues with health at all, they aren't fit for the job. Your attitude is disgusting, you are a despicable person and I feel sorry for the staff you step on who work under you. You don't have staff because of you. You are the problem. You kept my partner on for the festival and as soon as it's not busy, you get rid of him. I can understand if he isn't fit for the job, but to bully his neurodivergence and constantly belittling and calling him slow?

TOTAL ABSOLUTE RIP OFF!!! Popped in for 2 bacon sandwiches on white bread (pictured below) and 2 lattes...guess the price....no honestly have a go, pick a number at random. Guessed yet??? Bet your wrong!!!!!! £20 shocking pound. Yup, twenty Great British Pounds. 4 slices of the thinnest bacon imaginable 4 slices of brown bread despite ordering white and 2 teeny tiny lattes. £20 quid. Avoid like the absolute plague.
