Awful! Not only was the food half cooked- chicken pink, batter full of grease and doughy, chips hard! Even the prawn crackers were not cooked. Hard bits to the point it chipped my son’s tooth.
Half the order missing. The tubs the food came in were only a quarter full- pork in black pepper sauce- 4 thin pieces of pork and 2 black mushrooms.
The rice resembled rice pudding! Complete rip off!
I have no idea how they are still trading? Maybe it’s because they are the only Chinese takeaway that deliver in the area????
Positives- Ruth front of house… very polite and the delivery person!
Other than that…. Horrendous
As always top notch food with amazing taste, best kebab in newtown no doubt! Highly recommend their donner meat and chips. I get food atleast once a week from here.
Tried to eat there first night, 8:30pm arrived no greeting, we got her attention and asked where we can sit as we had a dog, she said sit where you want. When we chose our spot went to go to the bar, 8:40pm lady cleaning table informed me they stopped serving food 8:30pm, after a long journey to get here obviously hungry and disappointed we left. Tried today for lunch to be told lamb chops had run out. Which is fine I explained my disappointment and the lady was confused about not being served the night before as they stopped serving at 9pm. She did apologies but won’t be spending money here. Was so tired the night before and left to feed my 10 yr old from the spa store, so knowing this just made me angry, especially as I was hungry but the item I wanted of course had sold out today, just my luck, so out of principle won’t be trying again, not a great start to this area, not ideal but we did choose remote area. Tuesday today most things closed too 🤦🏽♂️🙄
Arrived for lunch at 1.45 to be met by very surely young lady who said all we've got is what you see. So there's no hot food then I said, she shouted to kitchen turn the fryers back on. I said are you doing paninis, she the shouted to kitchen turn them off again. Not being funny I couldn't see any paninis and as far as I know they are hot so what was the problem. Cash was preffered so rooted around for some money. Paninis were OK nothing special but salad was lacking any input just plonked on the plate. We then sat in an empty cafe as the two staff left by the back door to sit in the sun with a fag. We ate and left and could have taken the contents of the till with us if we were that way inclined.
Won't be visiting again.
Called in for lunch and were greeted by friendly staff. We had roast beef dinner and it was nicely presented and flavoursome with a very good portion of beef. Only one small criticism, it would have been good to have a steak knife to cut the thick beef slices. Very reasonably priced.
Popped in for breakfast before heading up to the Hay festival. Nice simple menu with enough choices for everyone. Staff very friendly and food very nice. Lots of table space and clean toilets. Very centrally located in the town centre.
Over £13 quid for Luke warm undercooked chips Luke warm fish that was mostly batter and a bottle of coke.
Won’t be going back and won’t be recommending it to any of my friends
Since the Breiden closed as a takeaway been trying to find a new Chinese takeaway tried the blue jade but very greasy and oil was well past its used by date . So very surprised to find the golden bamboo was bloomin lovely …..
Called in for Sunday lunch whilst we were in the area and were not disappointed. The staff were very friendly, the place was clean but we had to wait a little while for our food to come to the table. I had the Sunday lunch, and what a plateful it was. They no longer have half a chicken but two chicken breast fillets instead which is much better than all the bones in half a chicken. We had refills of our tea and coffee cups and a free donut with our hot drinks too. Great value for money and will be calling in again.
Tried this takeaway for the first time and will be the last. Ordered pork chow mein, hardly any pork and noodles mushy, no texture. Egg fried rice, very stodgy, pancake rolls incredibly oily. Overall food was horrible and we won't be using again. Also not cheap!
Avoid this place! I stood at the counter to order and was ignored. When the unsmiling barista eventually deigned to acknowledge me I asked for a decaf flat white, a flat white with oat milk and blueberry pancakes. The decaf flat white came out and just looked like hot milk. My husband took it back and the barista had a really bad attitude. She was surly and unhelpful. He got a refund. My pancakes were tough and leathery. Expensive too - coffee is £4.40 😮
