We only stopped for a quick nonalcoholic drink and a bowl of chips, but the staff were polite and efficient, the chips were very good indeed! The place was clean and tidy, including the toilets. There is an outside area, but parking spaces are limited right outside, and limited to 1 hour only, but there is a large car park in easy walking distance.

Visit all the time when I come to Newtown always have 2 4 1 margaritas staff actually listen to my requirements 😃 b bk next Tuesday........lol

The food was nice and hot, with a typical weatherspoons menu, which i find good value for money. I like the ability to order on an app. The toilets were clean, they are up stairs wich was no problem to our self's, but people with mobility issues may struggle. The place was fairly busy, and it was nice to see the service was a bit slow and seemed a bit under staff as we witnessed other customers had to clear a table so they could sit. Apart from that all good. Would visit again.

This is my go to restaurant for a coffee, breakfast, or evening meal out. I can't get over the quality of food for what I pay for it; the pizzas, curries, and steaks in particular rival if not better the ones I've had in far more expensive restaurants and typically range between £8-£11 in price with a cold drink thrown in. The breakfasts are out of this world, although I'm not vegetarian or vegan, the vegan breakfast has completely won me over..for only £2.99! The staff are super friendly. They treat the staff well, are very engaging, and in the very rare occasions I've been unhappy with a dish, they have been extremely apologetic. They are extremely hard working, have a very positive work ethic, and always find time to answer any queries. The venue is very family friendly, and a lovely place to meet with friends. My only criticism would be that the tables are not always cleaned instantly, and are often left looking a little dirty; however for a restaurant that is very short staffed , they do an incredible job and the advantages really make up for where the cleaning service is perhaps a little slow. For the sake of the food quality, and the atmosphere it is really worth a visit. Very affordable, and almost always a wonderful tasting meal.

Staff should ask people who sit with phones on loud whilst watching videos to turn the volume down, kids sitting unsupervised not eating nor drinking being very loud, tables very very slow to be cleared when customers have left, mostly very pleasant bar staff, food staff very busy but appear to be under staffed...

I like this boozer but her indoors doesn't. Which would be fine if she just stayed indoors but she doesn't, insisting on coming to the pub with the gents. Absolutely shameless!

Good to pop in for morning coffee and snack. Can only do it when not with our dog.

Breakfast was amazing. Fast friendly and efficient staff at the bar, food was tasty and cooked to perfection. Hot chocolate machine played up, but the waiter sorted it out immediately. 10 out of 10. I think we have adopted table 19 now. Have had numerous great breakfasts at this location. Highly recommended. 😀

Great spoons. Just off the main road so I often stop on the way to Manchester from West Wales. Lovely fire in the winter too.

We come in every week as agroup of 12-13 people with 1child not liking the food on the menu so she brings in a sausage to eat. With 12-11 people still ordering full meals and drinks for all they complain about the 1 sausage despite the full group spending over a hundred every week. So for the sake of 1 child that wouldn't order off your damn menu anyway they cost themselves regular business. We only come here because it's cheap the food is generally over cooked and cold. When ordering dishes like the quorn katsu curry it always comes with 5 nuggets when it advertises 8 which I've tried to complain about a few times. We put up with alot but embarrassing and upsetting a child who has food issues was the last straw

I visited Newtown Wetherspoons recently and was very disappointed with my experience. The chips and peppercorn sauce was cold, and the steak I ordered was mostly fat, making it nearly inedible. When I mentioned this to the staff, all they offered me was a free drink or pudding, and I was told I should’ve complained earlier. I would have expected a replacement meal or at least a more sincere resolution.

Can get very busy and loud. Food is what you expect for prices. Be vegan menu is great!

The local 'spoons, so you know what you're getting. Better than some, however! The food was good, the staff friendly, and the beer good quality and cheap! A good place for a spot of lunch.

You know Wetherspoons. No music, not much atmosphere, you bring your own atmosphere. The drinks are cheaper than most other places, the food is reasonably priced solid pub fare and the staff always do an excellent job.

My family and I attended today for lunch, the food was cold , presentation was appalling and over all very disappointed. How hard can it be to take a little pride in your work and how hard can it be to warm up already cooked meals

The food was not up to the normal Wetherspoons standard. The Chips were soggy the steak was not very hot neither was the peas or tomato. It looks a lot better than it was.

It’s a Wetherspoons at the end of the day, food was adequately microwaved, staff was on the ball and the atmosphere was very chill.

It is known that there is a very rude member of staff/manager working at this Wetherspoons. She tends to charge in and out of the kitchen in a temper and can be awkward and very rude with customers. Ruins the atmosphere.

Super nice place to have a good time and a good evening. We went there twice in a few days with friends who live near Newtown. The first time we ate and drank, the second time we just drank. Their fish and chips are really very, very generous; I almost had trouble finishing! A special feature specific to certain establishments in the United Kingdom: if you order a hot chocolate, tea or coffee, you return to the bar with your cup and they refill it for you FOR FREE! You can therefore consume until closing, at a lower cost! I forgot: overall, the staff is very friendly!

Been to this Spoons a few times when staying in Newtown. The team are very polite. The food is nice and the speed has always been brilliant when I have ordered here. Always fairly busy in the evenings so finding a table can be a challenge, but the team are quick to clear tables ready for the next guests. I would rate this as a ‘better than your average’ Wetherspoons.

Cold food, very poor attitude from staff, refunded food cost, no apology or customer service

Waited 20+ minutes For 2 traditional breakfast. Beans lukewarm Toast cold Bacon cold Egg broken and rubbery Hash brown lukewarm. WORST breakfast at a spoons in 20 years ( 1000 + eaten) Black boy Newtown hang hang you head in shame . Visited 256 and you were by far the worst ever.

I very much tucked in with a meal of meat free sausages mashed potatoes peas onion and red wine gravy that I loved from out of this world and enjoyed sitting relaxing listening to other peoples conversations. It was like I was still at home.

It's not the same as The Black Boy that used to thrive on its Sunday Carvery Luncheons but the architects have opened out a great space for Wetherspoon's to do what they do so well.

Had 2 large breakfasts for myself and my partner at 1130am which both consisted of hard fried eggs burnt toast cold sausages and a tea spoon of baked beans on both. Not impressed for the money we paid to receive cold food. Won't be eating there again

Nice spoons with character. Cheap and quick stop off on way home from Wales. Managed to park for free outside on a Sunday (usually 1 hour slots rest of week). Nice pub

we went as a family for mother’s day (there were eight of us) and 5 meals and one side were cold. when the staff took the food back they started ti moan.

Breakfast was sent back cold and just the white of a egg on the plate

Tom is an amazing asset to the team, truly couldn’t be a wetherspoon without a Thomas Evan’s. He is truly one of a kind, brought me my monster after i accidentally ordered it to shrewsbury wetherspoon. To think he would travel so far just for a customer is so beyond me. I would never. Good food at sensible prices, rather limited menu, especially the desserts menu. Lately the food has been coming out almost cold. Especially the chip and beans. They need to sort it out as we've begun dining elsewhere.

Food can be a little hit and miss, but I think that goes for all weatherspoons tbh biggest problem in hear is that the tables are generally. always needed to be clean and other peoples plates glasses ete needs to cleared up

I love this place. You can order through their app, from your table which is great (I struggle with human interaction). They naturally have WiFi, to enable ordering. Tonight my wife and I shared halloumi cheese starter and I had a Quorn Katsu Curry (vegetarian). Honestly, the Katsu curry was as good, if not better than the fancy ones I used to have in London which cost double the price. The beauty of this pub, is that it's just a good, lovely place. I've visited my fair share of pretentious restaurants in the past. Ironically they all lack in most areas. But the Black Boy delivers on great value, the food is great, the drinks are great. I dare anyone to visit here and find they leave wanting. If you want a cosy, comfortable and enjoyable dining experience, this is definitely a place to visit.

Guide atmosphere. Pub was very busy, with very few staff. So drinks took a very long time to arrive.

Visited yesterday for lunch and had my usual buttermilk chicken burger. Only difference this time is it's resulted in severe throwing up last night. Genuinely disappointed as the black boy has always been great apart from one occasion previously.

Good choice of beers. Dog friendly Friendly atmosphere and staff.

Had to steak the other day? Cook to perfection? It's one of the best steaks i've had.

Decent pint and food for the price. Staff were nice and polite. £11 for a burger and a pint of Guinness, cannot complaint at that.

It always used to be really good but these days is a hit and miss, unfortunately... Sometimes you will have a great meal, another time not so much. Another thing is a lack of random dishes from the menu - almost every time in the last year something was out of stock... service is still good and quick, so all good there plus the app ordering is great 👍

This is a pretty good 'spoons. Service was friendly and quick, ok beer but the food was great considering the price point.

I informed staff I required jacket potato to be hot , it wasn’t , also the.lettuce was in a bunch with the brown bottom still on it . Chicken breast on other meal was hot but chips Luke warm . Although it’s cheaply priced I still expect the basic Principles be applied .

Huge Weatherspoons went in yesterday for a Breakfast. And Apple juice was nice freshing. Looks small from outside but bigger than you imagine. Great location parking on the road for free only hour though.

Waited 45 minutes told it would be another 15 minutes had my money back and left. I don’t think I will be going back

Really bad food, the chef should be in the bad days, I asked a very well cook steak and they gave me a burned steak and the fried egg was horrible and the desert they didn't bother to say they run out chocolate and I ask my desert they said they don't have any!!! Really bad service and the employees looks like they need a break, not a smile not a polite attitude is simple horrendous!!!!
