The best restaurants in Mid Wales

The new extension was cold despite the wood fire. We felt rushed to order and rushed to leave, despite their being plenty of seats. Not a great experience.

Spotlessly clean lovely caffi coffee was really good and excellent staff can definitely recommend this cafe. If you are visiting. Watch the big car park as it wasn't taking cash payment the day we were there only online

This restaurant serves overpriced, unremarkable food in small portions. The high cost is due to its name alone. If it were any other place, it would be ridiculed. Not only that, the food was absolutely disgusting, even in such tiny, expensive servings. Don’t fall for their con, and avoid it at all costs. The staff was also the worst I’ve ever encountered.

Mock timber frame manor house retaining much of its character and charm. No lifts. Breakfast was choose your own pre-packed cereals with a cooked option. Dinner was a mini-taster with delicious options which we watched cooked on TV cameras. The room was clean but dated with an en-suit crammed in. High windows restricted light and views of extensive gardens and river. The staff were friendly and willing but lacked service training. Guests our age do not wish to be called 'you guys'.

Food great but check your bill. Took my adult kids here as a treat as we've been here a few times before and been impressed with the food and atmosphere. This time we were warned about a couple who had visited and been overcharged on two previous visits. After a great meal we too found that we had been billed for a bottle of wine, rather than the single glass we had. No discussion or checking against the order was done, just a new bill produced immediately, leading one to believe that they knew. Check your bill carefully.

Stopped by here for a bite to eat and a coffee during a circular walk to the north of Llanidloes. What a lovely little find. We had jacket potatoes, chocolate cake and mince pies alongside a coffee. Delicious food and the cake is exceptional.

What a lovely cafe, staff are brilliant, so friendly and helpful. Food is great, can't fault it. It was a lovely experience.

Sorry to say it was very underwhelming and disappointing. Although the staff were friendly enough, there was confusion with our simple order for 4 of us. Food and coffee came out one by one, if it came out at all. A piece if cake here, followed slowly by another. They even brought the wrong coffee. We sat waiting for a long time wondering where the rest of the order was. When we questioned it, they were surprised we were waiting for anything. When the food finally arrived, it was bland. The carrot cake had zero flavour! One person had raisins in theirs the other person had none. We have never had a piece of cake that had no flavour in it before. Most places serve everyone on table all at once. Was very strange. Needless to say, this is not a place we will be returning to.

Overall a lovely meal We had to wait at reception and were then told to seat at the only table set for 3 people but weren’t taken to table Initially service was a bit slow but it did improve Staff were polite and friendly Food was good, fresh and very tasty

Whilst visiting Brecon we popped in for some ice cream and it was amazing! So many different flavour and toppings to chose from.

This is a very friendly Italian restaurant with a varied menu. Its cakes are homemade and fresh, often with an Italian influence. I had the cheese omelet with salad and chips . The omelet is one of the best I have had. My husband had the spinach and ricotta ravioli. He really enjoyed it. The menu is very varied, so plenty to choose from.

What a delightful hotel. Our room was newly decorated, well appointed and beautifully clean. Staff were very helpful and welcoming. Plenty of parking. Easy access into Newquay and onward to West Wales. Breakfast was absolutely excellent. Highly recommend the Llanina Arms.

I stayed for a night on business. A lovely warm and friendly welcome on arrival. Food was fantastic (evening meal and breakfast). Great room with a really comfy bed. Would absolutely stay again. Thank you!
