Fantastic meal, lunch for 6 of us. All had different dishes but every one highly recommended. Very friendly and attentive staff. Great environment for drinks or a meal.

An absolute gem. The food was fantastic. Service was great. Well stocked with excellent beer.

Menu is a little weird and wonderful in places not great if you have a fussy eater with you Atmosphere is always brilliant and the staff are super helpful. Inside has been done up to a really high standard.

Bit quiet but it was early to be fair... nice enough place

Stopped while travelling through. So glad we did! Wonderful, friendly staff. The food was amazing. Could not fault a thing. Flavours and presentation! We ordered the Ox cheek and lamb rump as well as the date pudding and lemon for dessert. We will definitely go back to the area just to stop again. We had been out walking at waterfalls in the area all day so we were not really appreciately dressed or clean but they welcomed us in and served us like royalty. Just loved everything about this place. The atmosphere and decor included. Highly recommended.

The Sun Hotel was recommended by our Airbnb host as a place they go themselves. It was excellent, good food, good service, reasonably priced. We would go back if we were in the area.

Recommended by a friend. Went for Sunday lunch. Was told it can be quite busy so we booked. Wife doesn't eat red meat and doesn't like mushrooms, so we had to ask if the chef could cook her some chicken, which they agreed to do, which was nice. No bread with the mushroom soup, so I had to ask for some. Scotch egg starter was plain and had no taste. Was overpowered by the apple ketchup. Chicken main course was amazing, cooked so well and beautiful veg. Beef looked nice, but was a bit tough and I gave up chewing it. Bit disappointing. Told the staff when they collected the plates, but no response and nothing taken off the bill either. Lovely pub inside, but found the atmosphere flat and no music! And some bulbs out !the staff hardly spoke and weren't very friendly. Don't think we will rush back here anytime soon.

Amazing pie of the week! We loved our meal at The Sun Hotel. There wasn’t a need to book and they allowed our puppy with us, as long as we ate in the bar. Very fair prices (especially for drinks!) and welcoming, down to earth staff. Made our first meal out on our holiday very special and memorable. Highly recommend. Thanks a million!

Looked forward to our Sunday Lunch ( 29th Jan) This was out first visit but I know it will not be our last. The premises ouse lots of original character and is warm and inviting. The staff are extremelly professional in their approach to service, smartly dressed and well mannerd. The meal itself, sadly was disappointing. Why do Chefs always overcook beef instead of serving it pink. The beef was very overcooked and the roast potatoes as hard as canon balls. Just far to hard to cut into and so they were left. First course and Dessert were superb. The menu is extremely well thought out. That apart and all things taken into consideration, this is a very smart place to eat and we will certainly look forward to our next visit. Pink roast beef and softer roast potatoes please.

Fantastic all round! Service, food & atmosphere all what you would want from a county pub. Rib-eye steaks and puddings from the new menu were the highlight. Definitely coming back another time. Diolch

Lovely Saturday evening meal at the Sun complete with service that went above and beyond! Having really enjoyed delicious pollock and pork that we washed down with a bottle of Malbec, we found ourselves stuck trying to book a taxi back to our accommodation 10 minutes away. Straight away, the gents that had been serving us (David and Matt) kindly offered us a lift to save us a nasty walk back down a dark (and fast!) country road. Fabulous food topped by even more fantastic service - and a real sense of community despite being a couple hundred miles from home! Thank you for your generosity and care.

Telephoned Sunday 30 October to make a reservation, Answer phone, left a message asking to book lunch for 2 in December with contact details. Absolutely no response so made a reservation Friday instead for the Station Grill. If they can’t be bothered neither can I

Popped in for Sunday lunch just after midday, no table booked so we were offered a perfectly good table in the bar area. Ordered some drinks at the bar and took our seats. Typical Sunday lunch pub menu. We all opted for the roast beef. Staff were very attentive, polite and efficient. Food arrived and all was very good. A good sized portion of roast beef, accompanying veg (including a rather delish cauliflower cheese) and a gravy boat. Absolutely nothing to complain about. One of us had a dessert and a coffee afterwards, both went down very well. Not too expensive and paying a 10% tip seemed in order as the staff were really good. All in all, a very pleasant experience. Highly recommended.

My husband & I went for my belated birthday meal on Wednesday night. ( it was my 4th visit & my husbands 1st). Simon is quite a plain Jane when it comes to food. I had king prawn & chorizo linguine & Simon had a burger. Both meals were delicious. We shared a sticky toffee pudding, as Simon wasn't sure he'd like it. Judging by the speed he at the majority of it I'd say he definitely did! 😆 Staff are friendly & attentive. We will definitely be back.

Good meal excellent wine reasonable price

Really sorry but what a disappointing evening. Arrived st just after 7pm and were shown immediately to our table. There were 4 other diners in the restaurant but it was at least 15 minut s before we could make a drinks order and another 15/20 before they arrived. Then another long wait for someone to take our order .... by 8pm I asked the owener/manager what was the problem as waiting such a long time with so few i the restaurant was not really acceptable. I was given some lame excuse about a problem but any other professional would have clocked this and have made some form of apology/ explanation earlier and would have offered a free drink on the house and free nibbles from the menu. Eventually our starter arrived at 8.05 and ou main by 8.25. By which time we had rather given up on what should have been a quiet relaxing birthday celebration. Unfortunately my lovely, all too easy husband paid the bill, no reduction for a not very satisfactory evening ...... sorry to say we shall think twice about returning despite the fact we try to support local business, and would not really recommend The Sun ...... I shall be phoning the joint owner/managed to make my views to her. Such a shame.

Clean and tidy throughout, very helpful, polite, friendly and attentive staff, wide choice of good food in decent portions and delicious desserts. Some parking outside and an entire car park just over the road.

I've been here a few times now and can't fault anything, the service, food and atmosphere is amazing. I ordered the steak and it was one of the best meals I've had.

The rib eye steak was absolutely out of this world, very very impressed, the service in this place is also superb. Myself and my wife try lots of nice restaurants on our travels and this is definitely one of the best we've stumbled across. 10/10

We moved to the village back in September 2021 and found ourselves eating here quite often as it's super close. Being predominantly on a plant based diet Lindsay and the team are always happy to offer us some extra options (if we say when we book). The food is always excellent and the service matches. David (behind the bar) is always happy and friendly and a good first point of contact as you enter. The pub looks lovely and fresh on the inside and is nice to pop along for a quick pint or two.

What an amazing little gem. Everything about the Sun is lovely from the moment you walk in. Lovely decor. Lovely staff and wonderful food. I had a beetroot and walnut salad, Trout fillet on the most amazing courgette I have ever tasted and a rum, pineapple and coconut ice cream for desert. Every mouthful was a joy. I could have eaten every course 10 times over. Light and delicious. The staff were lovely friendly and there if you needed them. One of my pet hates in a restaurant is when 5 different people come and ask if everything is ok? Not here. Yes we were asked quietly and quickly by one lovely young lady. We were pleasantly surprised when the bill came too. Thank you everyone for a really special evening.

Really nice food, if a little heavy on the mashed potato’s which seem to come with all our dishes. Reasonably priced (£78 for three people. Two starters. Three mains and a bottle of red. ) Staff are lovely.

Absolutely brilliant had a late lunch unplanned just turned up and Dave the barman and waiter could not have been more welcoming or friendly . The food was fantastic and so where the cocktails . Yet again a wonderful meal in relaxed setting with lovely staff. The menu suits all palettes, I particularly love the fish which is always different and not the standard salmon/sea bass offering. Absolutely lovely food! Fantastic. We went in for lunch and had a light bite. The fish finger sandwich was lovely! On of us was gluten free. The only thing she could have really was soup. So one improvement could be for the sandwiches or light bites if they could have gluten free bread alternatives as this would then give more choice. Lots of gluten free options for main meals though but we only wanted the light bites at lunch time really. Thank you.

Another gorgeous meal and warm welcome at The Sun Hotel. Cod Supreme, should be renamed Cod Superb! A wonderfully talented Chef who has subtle French influences in his food. Great atmosphere and enjoyable experience every time we visit.

The food was ok, it wasn't a very large menu and the main item we wanted, pie of the day, wasn't available so we all struggled to find something else, the decor is very nice and it was busy, but the service was quite slow. The staff were all very helpful and friendly.
