Unbelievably good service and fabulous food - especially for a busy Friday night and that we were a party of 12. Really enjoyed our evening there. It was faultless - thank you

Was in the smallholders show for royal Welsh had a stand there had pulled pork nachos the best I have ever had and the smash burger 🍔 was like heaven on a plate a big thanks for the warm welcome from the staff especially the persons behind the bar homage triple cooked chips are to die for I would 100% recommend for to come here food and very reasonable priced thanks llyr

Absolutely brilliant pub- fantastic food, really reasonable as well. Huge portion sizes and the kids meals are great too. My children don't leave a single thing on their plates which is a great sign! Slightly hard to park when really busy but not a huge issue. Very friendly staff too. Will be back and we will let our holiday let guests know too. Thank you

If I ever came back to wales I would not only visit that pub once but multiple times with out a doubt. Not only was the service phenomenal with our excellent server Rhodri but the quality and taste of the food was absolutely incredible as well, I would definitely visit again.

Fantastic food, no complaints at all.

Things unavailable on the menu. The mixed grill which is no longer available but still on the online and restaurant version advertised. Food that was unavailable wasn't mentioned at seating and neither were the specials. They were written on a board I saw as I left. Staff were lovely but ill informed

Recently visited the prince llewelyn Inn , food was really tasty and present really well, plenty of options to choose from at good reasonable prices , service was great and the pub had plenty of space for parking we will visit again .

Lovely local pub with fabulous food and great service

My wife and I went for a Christmas meal here, along with a couple friends of ours, last night. It's no exaggeration to say that it was the best commercial Christmas dinner I've ever had. All four of us all agreed that every course was superb meaning that the whole meal was well worth the money. My wife and I started with Prawn Cocktail which was fantastic, so many tasty prawns and even smoked salmon. The traditional Christmas dinner, as I said, was the best I've ever had in a commercial establishment of any sort, simply superb. Our friends had different things to us but they also said how delicious it all was. We will definitely be going back in the new year to try their regular fare, hopefully this will be equally as delicious. Thank you Prince Llewellyn!

We booked a table here whilst we were staying in the area. I am gutted this pub is not nearer to home, as we would be regulars if it was! The food was fantastic. It is by far the best pub food I've had in a long time. The curry was excellent, as was the home made pies. The kids portions were huge and the chips home cooked and plentiful. We went in during Halloween and the pub was really well decorated and there was a fantastic atmosphere. I would recommend booking as when we called in it is clearly a well used local venue, for all the right reasons. Staff were friendly, pub and toilets were clean. Couldn't ask for more. If we are in the Builth area again, we will be heading here for food!

Went for Friday night meal. Friendly and attentive staff. Locals friendly and chatty which made us feel welcomed. We had breaded camembert, garlic mushrooms in cream and steak and lamb shank. Unable to fit in a dessert as large portions. All excellent and good value. Will return when visiting again.

Great meal at 5.30pm on a weekday when we were camping nearby. We were 3 adults 3 children a dog and a baby. Accomodated in a snug private room with dart board. The staff were welcoming. The chips were homemade, great steak/grilled food. Kids menu included free dessert. Would go out of our way to return when in the area again or as a stop off when crossing Wales by car. 10/10.

If you want to be felt really unwelcome as an outsider then this is the place to go, apparently there was a miscommunication about our booking, but I think it was because they didn't write it down, anyway we were then offered a table by an open doorway, I declined as there were at least 5 or 6 free tables. We were then offered another table, lovely I thought, the barmaid then said there would be at least an hours wait for food, it was not quite 8pm, that's ok we thought, we can have a drink or two, but then after speaking to the chef, he said maybe a longer wait and there was no guarantee they would have all the options left by that time. The barmaid gave us a few other establishments that we could go to but they were all in builth wells. Then surprise surprise 2 locals walked in and after saying they had texted Tom, who said he could fit them in, this made the 2 barmaids giggle at our situation, this says it all really, I was quite upset and put out so we left and went to the white horse in Builth and the staff were absolutely lovely and so helpful. Anyway even more oddly if you check the google reviews I think the staff got just about everyone in the pub to make a positive review, all in the same night, slightly suspicious. Another point to note is if there are any negative reviews then the establishment reply is very rude and aggressive, always the customers fault it appears. I also apologise to the 3 customers who were at the bar when I walked out, I don’t normally behalf that way but considering how we as a family were treated by the the bar staff I was really angry, I do not however apologise to the bar staff or the owner as they need some customer service training

Great food fantastic staff, very friendly and accommodating , didn’t want to leave really but had to get back to our campsite, would definitely recommend, ask about the history of this pub, pretty amazing also, thanks for making our evening a good one :-)

We had a great evening, the food was amazing and the service was outstanding. I was in on the same night as the two negative reviews where the pub were accused of being racist. I would like to make a point that this is couldn’t be further from the truth. They are a family run pub and go to great lengths to accommodate to any and all people. Their behaviour towards the staff was quite shocking to see but they handled it professionally.

Lovely Saturday night spent in the Prince. The staff here are always welcoming and the pub always has a great chilled atmosphere, it has a great reputation both locally and further afield. Unfortunately, a group of people came in and were very rude towards the staff and my partner and I however it was still a good experience despite this. Keep being great guys! Food is always amazing too!!!

Having lived in the area for six years and visited this place twice when we first moved in, we vowed never to back. But hearing from various friends that now it had been taken over it was good. We went for Sunday lunch today and were very pleased, friendly staff, good atmosphere and great lunch. The only decent Sunday lunch we have found since moving to Powys. Keep up the good work

Had sunday lunch with my husband. I had the vegetarian option he had roast beef. Whilst the staff were so lovely and really attentive, the food itself was awful. Firstly the food on the plate was drowning in gravy, it was difficult to see what had been piled up on the plate underneath! The nut roast was a sloppy mess that tasted like paxo sage and onion stuffing with some nuts chucked in it. There was sloppy mashed potato, next to what appeared to be potao daphonous, next to cheese broccoli bake then with red cabbage which was overwhelmed with cloves, on top was a roast potato and a aunt Bessie yourkshire pudding, a couple carrots sliced and cooked to within an inch of their life and an enormous amount of peas. Whilst anyone reading this might think wow that's sounds amazing, all that choice, it was anything but amazing. Nothing was homemade, and as it was all piled on my plate I had not choice on whether I wanted 3 types of potato, but actually this was irrelevant as it was so bad I could not eat it ! My husbands beef was dry and curling up on the ends and similarly the plate was piled so high it was just ofputting. Again so bad he could not eat it. He eat the Yorkshire and the roast potato, he hates broccoli bake, which was smothered over the mash and potato daphonous so he could not eat any of these. My husband didn't want a pudding, I gave it a go and paid £7.00 for a dish advertised as apple and blackberry crumble. In reality it was 2 teaspoons of apple and blackcurrants served in a square 2in dish with a layer of uncooked crumble. I left it. We paid and will never go back.

Our family plus our son Henry's best mate (Arthur) booked for Sunday lunch and had the Best Sunday Roast dinners ever! The food was piping hot and delicious. Our son is vegetarian so had a Nut Roast (for the first time ever!) with all the trimmings - he said it was fantastic! Thank you to all the staff for a wonderful welcome, great local pub, GREAT food and service. Ps.the pool table ( which is free! ) kept the boys entertained. See you next time we are in the area.

The weather was awful, but we had a warm welcome at this lovely pub! We settled by the wood burner while we chose from the menu, the Sunday lunch was fantastic and they catered for the three young children with a smile! Will definitely return when in the area again!

Food was unreal, really interesting takes on classic pub food with a few extra bits on the menu you wouldn't usually expect. Chef came and spoke to us and recommended his personal favourite dish even though it was difficult to make. The building itself is beautiful and as a result the atmosphere was very welcoming. Can't fault the staff either, attentive and polite. No complaints at all, can't wait to go again when I'm in the area.

Sunday lunch was extremely yummy 😋, with lots of variety. Finished off with a lovely rhubarb crumble perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

I don’t usually write reviews. We came here whilst on a family holiday. We had a mix up with restaurants and turned up here instead of where we had booked. This place bent over backwards to accommodate us. The food was absolutely amazing. We was a large booking and every single meal was 10/10. A little gem of a place we stumbled across. Would highly recommend. Thankyou to the staff on who sorted us out so last minute!

The Prince Llewelyn Inn wasn't our first choice and that was our first mistake! That is an amazing place with amazing staff. Me and my friend had a tiring day of hiking, and when other food establishments let us down Kathryn and Ffion accommodated us in with a smile and made us feel welcome. The new and out of the menu food recommendations was more than outstanding, the chef - Tom had obviously prepared the food with a lot of care and imagination despite the fact that the kitchen was closed for serving food. The chef even came out of his way to serve us the food and explain every process of preparing it. Honestly,  this place is a MUST if you want to be treated with respect and spend the good night out. The decoration, the politeness of the staff members, the atmosphere are get my highest ratings! Highly recommend The Prince Llewelyn Inn!

We had booked via the website but we didn't appear to be on the list. Nevertheless we were seated. The service was prompt and efficient. The food was delicious. My husband likes his meat well done. The beef was well done, yet it was soft and tender. The vegetables were well cooked my only complaint was the "roast" potato. It wasn't roasted, it might have been cooked in an airfryer and it was hard. However the rest of the food was spot on. The dessert menu offered a range of choices and was a nice way to end a meal. Good access for people with mobility issues.

Four friends on a motorcycle trip found this restaurant to eat. To get there we drove through the lanes with a lots of lovely views across the hills. When we arrived we parked in the car park at the back of the pub. There was very little spaces but parking is there outside in the street. If the car park is full. It was a busy night so we had to wait a little for our food but service was very good and the food was very tasty. I had the vegetarian burger and all friends had the home made steak ale pie. It's such a huge letdown! I read the reviews and thought we would be safe. My partner ordered lasagna, which was full of cheese, and found very little meat. I ordered the chicken burger. This burger had been deep fried and forgotten about! It was that hard it would make a perfect door stop. We then thought, let's get a dessert, you can't go wrong there. How wrong! The honeycomb cheesecake came out frozen. The ice cream was soft, but cheesecake literally came from the freezer. I would recommend you give this restaurant/pub a wide birth.

Went for an anniversary meal whilst away on holiday. Reviews were excellent so was expecting a good meal. Starters were lovely, husbands main looked lovely and so did everything that other diners had. Sadly, the same couldn't be said for the beef balti. 4 small chunks of beef which were gristle and fatty in a thin watery sauce. Not like I'd expect a balti to be. Being a chef myself when asked if everything was fine I couldn't lie. Respect to them though, they didn't charge for the meal, I only wish I'd chosen something else.

Lovely warm atmosphere, amazing home cooked food, great selection of drinks and new food menu is amazing, waiting on staff are welcoming and friendly. We were a pre booked party of 30+ , the food all arrived in good time and was delicious!! The free pool table was also a nice touch to keep the teens engaged

Went there on Sunday, coronation weekend. Amazing evening. The entertainment was exceptional. Especially Megan, on piano. They ought to have regular events like this. A great time had by all.

Went here with family for an evening meal. Good selection on the menu as well as specials. The chips were lovely and home cooked and the deserts were delicious. The service was excellent. The young girl serving behind the bar and taking the orders was exceptionally polite and helpful - would definitely be visiting again xx

Staying locally so went here for Sunday lunch based on our holiday home owners recommendation. Four lovely beef dinners including 3 different types of potato and broccoli cheese, which was a nice change, along with your traditional peas, carrots and yorkshire pudding. All well cooked, generous portion sizes which you don't typically find of a Sunday lunch. Asked for horseradish and was given one small pot between four. Would have liked to have seen two pots based on there being four of us. Pub itself is lovely inside and our dog was welcome in the restaurant which was nice. Waitresses/bar staff were pleasant but a little quiet and didn't really make conversation despite us being the only customers on arrival. Overall positive and good food.

Friendly clean and welcoming but staff overwork . Waited over an hour for main meal then waited another half hour to be cleared away then waited another 30 minutes to order a pudding , gave up pads the bill and left being as nice to staff as I could : . In their defence they did have to two large parties in : over 12 in each , obviously they should inform other dinners of this , the management fault of overbooking, shame food good value and eatable : downside first time ever left without having a pudding :management greed

We took a chance & turned up mid week, The Prince had a nice selection of meals - we opted for the Llewelyn Burger , the special, which was German burger (came with sauerkraut and a big pretzel) and a steak and ale pie. We were not disappointed , both burgers were excellent , the steak pie came with a pastry lid the size of a top hat and it had REAL chips as accompaniment. we thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend this place, some very nice pub grub...

Cuisine at a level of a school canteen. Without the specifics of totally unimpressive meals there is a need for a revision of the menu and the lack of expertise in the kitchen.

Wundervoll! Wir waren mit unserer kleinen Tochter (fast 2J) zum Abendessen dort! Sehr zu empfehlen wenn jemand in dieser Region zu Besuch ist! Vom super leckeren Essen ganz abgesehen, war der Service fantastisch, die Mädels waren ganz bedacht dass unser kleines Mädchen kindgerecht eingedeckt wurde, die Toiletten sind mit Hygieneartikeln ausgestattet und das Ambiente ist sehr gemütlich und familiar! Die Preise zu diesem tollen Ort sind fast zu niedrig :) Vielen Dank!!!

This place is under new management since 2022, and have undergone a full refurbishment to become a cozy local pub with a comfortable touch. Whilst one can still find the generic pub food on the menu, the Specials Board is a significant step up from any other pubs in the area. Their 'Special Burgers' are frequently developed and are always unique, tasty and extremely flavourful. It is clear that the Chef here is someone who takes great pride in his work, and prepares his food with passion and dedication. We have enjoyed a range of different burgers this summer, and will keep our eyes open for new specials that can't be found elsewhere. The patty is no doubt ground on site with proper butcher-sourced beef, and the fresh ingredients and tasty cheese really justifies the mark up in price from the regular menu items. This place is distinguished from other local pubs by not only offering regular, decent pub food but also offering specials that are truly special.
