The best restaurants in Wales

Excellent as always. Warm greeting as per usual, clean premises, lovely atmosphere, even on quieter nights. Been visiting for past 2-3 years mostly on and off as have another favourite and usually pay full price (which is reasonable to be fair, price wise) but took advantage of a recent significant discount in the past couple of weeks (stumbled upon chance). No grumble about the discount from the guys there, happy to honour without any issue or drop in quality, none whatsoever. Always well staffed, never needing to look for the waiters for service but at the same time they aren't all over you either, allowing you to sit and chill. Prices fair, service excellent and friendly, place looks the part and the food is excellent. Genuine review, don't know them personally and tbh don't normally leave reviews anywhere so there's a testament in itself. Go check um out and enjoy!

Drove the half hour out to this place because of the excellent reviews, family of five, food was OK, roasts hard but not crunchy, no mash potatoes or peas which was disappointing, my 11 year old daughter only wanted two Yorkshire puddings and gravey, we where initially charged for an adults carvary for this which is £14.95 she is under 12 so should have only been charged £9.95, I brought this up when paying the bill, it was changed to £3.95. 4 adult carverys, 4 pints of Pepsi, 2 pints of lime and soda and half a lemonade, 2 deserts came to £88.25.

Got the large cod box and swapped mushy peas for curry sauce. So tasty and very good portion sizes for a tenner

We first came here to eat in 2005, although I’ve found out today that this pre-dates the current owners. In recent years we have visited this restaurant on each of our one or more visits every year to Anglesey. We obviously wouldn’t do this if we didn’t enjoy it here. The food has always been well prepared, of very high quality, and the service efficient and welcoming. Today was a Sunday roast which we both thoroughly enjoyed. We don’t normally do desserts, but having tried a couple of ‘specials’ on our last visit we decided to give it a go, and we were glad we did! Thoroughly recommended.

Stopped in the Cafe for a spot of lunch. Had the Beef Cawl which was perfect. Loads of beef and really tasty. Home cooked Welsh food the way it should be. Staff were kind, polite and clearly hard working. Whole family enjoyed their food.

Called in on our way to a family lunch, we had coffee and some blueberry loaf cake which was absolutely delicious 😋 ... will definitely call again

Absolutely amazing. Service was brilliant. Food was out of this world. We really enjoyed from the moment we walked in to the moment we left, the 2nd date night we have managed this year. Would certainly recommend to anyone. Friendly staff, good beer selection, superb menu and great value for money.

The beef dinner was very nice. Polite staff very good service. Myself and family really enjoyed our meals of which were reasonably priced

10 if us Dropped in at short notice and not long before the kitchen closed. Very welcoming and quickly got us settled and food orders in. Most of us had pies and they were excellent 👌 large with lots of filling and we all cleared our plates. Recommended if you in Bala area

Lovely, spacious and dog friendly cafe. Excellent breakfast and coffee at very reasonable prices. Friendly, welcoming staff. Our go-to cafe now in Llandudno.

Staying at sister hotel but had a lovely breakfast here staff are wonderful

Starters were lovely but the main wasn't pleasant. It wasn't made clear to us when ordering that the broth was creamy, as we don't like creamy food. I thought it would be more of a clear broth. The bowls and drinking stein mugs were chipped. I explained at the end that we were dissatisfied with our food and they did offer another meal which we didn't want as we were put off with the previous dish, no discount was offered until I asked in which they took £20 off the bill.

Food was great and staff were patient and explained the menu well including gluten free options! It's very busy so l suggest book in advance

I always enjoy going to Phils Cafe . Excellent food at very reasonable prices . The staff are excellent friendly and helpful . If you're in the Bridgend area call in you will not be disappointed...
