Delicious fish and chips. All cooked fresh to order so on a busy Saturday evening it was about a half an hour wait but well worth it. Friendly staff also.

So friendly, the premises were spotless and the fish and chips were first rate. Crisp batter surrounding meaty cod with lovely chips and real mushy peas.

It may have won awards but the service is painfully slow considering how many staff they have on. 45 mins for three small battered sausage and chips. Are they actually peeling spuds there? Honestly, use your hot holders and fry bigger batches of chips guys!

The food here was lovely, huge cod. We were trying to decide what to have and the dark haired girl serving was extremely rude and was rolling her eyes at us. Think the owner saw her and told us tomtske our time. We spent £50 and we even had timask her fir a carrier bag which again rolled her eyes.

Came here because its won the fry awards 2 years running. Batter on the haddock was perfectly cooked throat, fish was fresh, great chips. Well deserved awards. Staff really friendly and good atmosphere

We went here as they had high reviews. Was told there’s a 30 min wait so knew they must be good. Ordered arrived 30 mins later but ended up waiting another 25 mins. Was it worth the wait…… YES Great customer service and quality of food.

We had a Friday Fish Supper. A special. Boxed fish and a tub of peas, with a drink. £13. The fish was large, with a generous helping of chips. The food was absolutely delicious. Crispy batter and moist white fish! There's usually a queue, but the service is quite fast! Highly recommended!

Regularly use this Chippy when we’re in Caernarfon as in our opinion it’s the best. On our latest visit we had 2 kids meals, 2 fish and chips and a sausage and chips. All well cooked, tasty, generous portions at great value. Served by friendly staff. We had a problem with the online ordering service that the staff sorted out for us very quickly. Much appreciated.

Came here specifically for the chips as we had read they were good, and they were! Really nicely cooked and tasty, my hunny also had a mini fish which he said had lovely crispy batter and tender white fish inside. They make everything fresh to order as you go in, so there was a little wait but only for around 5-10mins or so. I asked for extra salt and vinegar and they gave me loads it was yummy!

We discovered this great fish & chips during our vacation and were thrilled. Fish and chips were freshly prepared, which of course takes some time. But thanks to nice conversations with the team, the time flew by. It tasted so delicious that we were thrilled there a second time today. Everything tasted wonderful! Cracking fish and chips, easily best chippy in Caernarfon!

It had been a while since we had stayed at Mum and Dad’s caravan near Caernarfon so I had asked for recommendations for fish and chips in the area (I know how to treat my wife) Ainsworth's were almost universally recommend. Great decision made, but I thought I would check out the reviews almost all were5-star. I scrolled down and discovered 2 bad reviews. However what impressed me was the engagement of the owner with the writers this only made me want go more. Just returned from Ainsworth’s So glad we did absolutely 5 Star in every way well done to all the team. I don’t have awards to give out like previous reviewers but if I did you would have one until next time......

Wir haben während unseres Urlaubs diesen tollen Fish&Chips entdeckt und waren begeistert. Fisch und Pommes wurden frisch zubereitet, was natürlich etwas Zeit in Anspruch nimmt. Aber durch nette Gespräche mit dem Team verging die Zeit wie im Flug. Es schmeckte so lecker, dass wir heute ein 2.Mal da waren begeistert. Alles schmeckte wunderbar! Great fish and chips is hard to find, but Ainsworth's is definitely worth its salt! We managed to get the last small fish (haddock) and we were very pleased we did - it was fresh and the batter was tasty. I love a thin batter - whilst this was a little thicker than my ideal, it was done this way to create a lovely and crispy finish. The chips were beautiful! Gravy was spot on! We had plans to eat on the seafront, but we could not bear the thought of such delicious food being nabbed by the gulls and so took our treasured chips to eat in the car! We'll be back!

Went there at a very busy time, so naturally, there was a slight wait. However, this wait was well worthwhile as the quality of the food was exceptional. We savoured the food viewing the Menai Straits which sit nearby.

Stopped off to get something to eat so parked in the Castle car park for 1 hour. Walked round to find somewhere to get a takeaway and found this place. Ordered upon entry and order was taken by a young lad which was fine. The girl shouted through to the back for a Haddock which I ordered which you would expect to be put in when you order. Paid for order which was almost double that it costs back home but didn't really bother me. From the time I ordered to the time I got my food was 30 minutes. When you order you get a receipt with an order number on it. They shouted that a customers order was ready but his number was after ours but was told he only wanted chips and curry sauce so that was why they did his order, yet another customer came in asking for just chips and was told they can't serve him as there are so many customers waiting for orders. The one they served early was talking to people outside saying he was a regular customer as he only lives across the way from the chippy. So it seems like it's a case of "If your face fits" If the fish was put in when ordered it would have had chance to drain instead of having a Paper bag with a pool of grease running around in the bottom of it. After all the waiting my wife threw her chips in the bin. Doesn't matter how long you have been in the business you need to take lessons from the Chinese takeaways and learn how to cook chips. Very sarcastic staff. When I asked about my order due to my parking ticket the guy cooking said "You don't want a half cooked Fish as well as a Parking Penalty do you" 5 people working but only cooking and serving one at a time, and it doesn't take 30 minutes to cook 1 fish. Very bad service.

Got to be the worst takeaway ever visited. Ordered food at 5:10pm as my car park ticket wasn't due to expire until 5:40pm. Stood outside where other customers were waiting for their orders. Time went by and finally got my order at 5:40 pm which meant I was late for ticket expiring. The trouble with this place is they take 7 or 8 orders and cook them one at a time. Even though I ordered at 5:10pm my fish wasn't put in fryer until 5:30. 5 people working in the place but have no organization skills at all. Also don't serve by the number in your receipt, No.22 was served before 19, 20 & 21 also 2 people ordered after me and were served before me. Definitely one OFF my list of takeaways.

Visited 31/07/2024 evening Ainsworth’s Fish & Chips made a believer out of me! I used to think fish & chips were meh, but their cod & small chips are a crispy, fresh, flaky revelation. So so good, I’d come back to Caernarfon just for them! Best fish & chips I’ve ever had; their awards are well deserved. Thanks for converting me to the fish & chips club! 🐟🍟

Very good fish & chips snack. Everything is freshly prepared, the staff is very nice, the waiting time was very entertaining. Large portions, so you'll definitely be full. What fascinated me most was that the small shop had its own app for ordering.

We were recommended Ainsworth's when on holiday, and it was definitely worth the detour...best fish and chips we've had in years! We were first through the door when it opened, but it looks like all fish is cooked fresh to order, so allow a 10-15min wait. It was too far to takeaway back to our accommodation, so we perched at the little counter in the window to eat, which was fine, and chatted with the owner whilst we ate...he's very enthusiastic about his food, and was interested in where else we had tried locally and how it compared (nowhere near as good!). The largest portion of chips is a "medium", but x3 portions was too much for x4 of us. Fish was cooked beautifully...he literally battered it in front of us, and it was moist and perfectly cooked inside, and beautifully crispy batter on the outside. We'll definitely be back...

Fantastic food, very reasonably priced. Really tasty fish, proper hand cut chips and all cooked to perfection. All the usual trimmings on offer, mushy peas, gravy etc. Just what I needed after a long shift with coastguard! Highly recommended.

Gorgeous mushy peas (I bought two pots to take back home, that's how much I liked them!), generous cod portion, and everything super clean. There is also a wee counter where customers can eat; it was raining buckets, so I had dinner in there. Staff members are lovely and it is located very close to the bus station, so I could have dinner and come back to my place in Bangor rather quickly. Will definitely return to this Caernarfon chippy often.

Not sure if it was an off day As normally enjoy having a treat from here. But was very disapointed Found the fish and chips rather dry Only a small laddle of mushy peas and curry sauce in the carton not enough to cover the chips No option to buy a larger carton Very clean but rather unorganized and chaotic, long wait despite pre ordering, and wasnt sure whos chips they were serving next I like to know when its my turn and be asked how much salt and vinegar I want etc and if i want the fish and chips together etc The person who was frying the chips was also serving them out even though there was a person at the till and seemed to be rushing Ordered x 2 mini fish, chips and mushy peas And 1 standard cod and chips and curry sauce £25!!

Great food, all freshly made, so probably best to use their app and order in advance for collection, or just wait the 15 mins or so for it to cook. Responsible packaging, only the lid from the peas wasn't recyclable everything else was. Separated chips and fish in the cardboard carton too, don't know why everyone doesn't do this, far superior. Great tadte, crunchy batter, nice chips. We would go here again when in Caernarfon.

Chose this shop because of reading reviews and we were not disappointed. The best fish, chips and mushy peas we’ve tasted for a very long time. Light crispy batter on the fish and plenty of chips. And packed in a box. Staff were very friendly - def recommend.

Award winning chip shop. The cod was very nice and I think not too bad for £8, everything else was small portions, overpriced and pretty average tasting to be honest. It was fairly busy when we went in, which rapidly became obvious why, yes the food is cooked fresh which is good I suppose but they literally cooked one order at a time, not a load of chips and 5 people have ordered fish and 6 people want a sausage.... one order then the next order then the next order. You get my award for the longest I have ever waited from ordering to receiving my food. 🏆⌛😴🏆 yes I nearly fell asleep.

Excellent chippy. Fast and friendly service, clean and new premises and, an odd comment, but a very nicely packed box! We thought the fish was really fresh, cut properly and battered really well. Chips were great too. If we’re back in the area we would definitely return. Thanks

Can't complain about the food decent chips, I've been twice for sausage and chips which were good both times. I'm not sure why it warrants a 20 - 30 min wait each time, from what I see everyone has to wait for ages

Fish and chips were very nice and tasted great, cooked to a good standard. Staff were polite and friendly, we did have to wait 30 mins after ordering as it was so busy with a que outside , but this is a positive as many people must like this chip shop! Would revisit if back in the area!

Excellent food, excellent customer service and friendly staff. I’ve never tased anything like the fresh cod and chips before. All the food is cooked while you wait or you can order online and pick up so it’s nice and golden crispy and the cod is out of this world tasty. 10/10 just awesome.

Food looks great all cooked fresh. Waited nearly an hour in shop for 4 cod and chips. Everybody very unhappy/angry. Problem comes from poor kitchen management. Wouldn't use again.

Up from Liverpool for a couple of days .. went to chip shop . staff were lovely an friendly husband got fish chips mushy peas it’s was unreal i got pie chip’s gravy peas best i’ve ever had . Would recommend this chip shop to everyone place was spoitless clean too . 5 star all the way .

It’s a take away fish and chips place in Caerfernon. Saw a long line waiting for their orders while we passed by. We tried it the next day, thankfully, no more line that day. Staff was friendly and fast and would explain the menu choices patiently. We especially liked the cod fish which is more tender than haddock. They accept card payments. Serving size is huge and filling (we ordered the standard one).

Ran out of chicken burgers so made me a double burger with 6 chicken stripes. It was good! Proper good! The owner asked me to let him know what I thought... would 100% get again!

What a great spot. Without a doubt, the best fish and chips I’ve eaten. We had the meal deal (pictured) which was huge and great value for money. The owner was welcoming and friendly. Be willing to wait for your order because each portion is freshly made and well worth the wait!

Tuesday night and ordered 10 portions. Excellent fish and chips . Freshly cooked to perfection while we had a pint next door. Would recommend.

Was overpriced (£23 for fish & chips x2) and the service was poor. Had to wait 25 minutes and the girl serving didn't seem to know what was going on!

Everything cooked fresh while you wait. High quality lightly battered haddock our favourite and the spicy curry to die for. A must when visiting Caernarfon.

I googled Best Fish and Chip shop in Caernarfon, it came up with this one. 5* hygiene rating Looked spotless Fish 10/10 what I’d expect being on the Coast. Chips 9/10 Cook to order so takes a little while but Very Good 👍 5 Stars from me and I’ll be back next time I visit .

I was in the area for two nights and went here based off the reviews. I wasn’t disappointed. Lovely family run business, great couple :) My kids absolutely loved it too. Fresh meaty cod in a crisp crunchy batter, the chips tastes great too. They had ran out of curry sauce which was shame but the mushy peas were great. I would have liked more vinegar on the chips and a slice of lemon would have been nice.

Genuinely…. The best chip shop I’ve been too. It’s my second visit and they never disappoint. The lady who serves us was so helpful and gave us great advice on places we can go to go with the kids. AMAZING Trust me… if you go here you won’t be disappointed 😃

I found this chip shop confusing ...4 people serving but not serving ...and to charge for forks and bags ridiculous..and charge 50p for a sachet of ketchup..seem to make a simple job hard..

Best fish n chips ive had in a long time

I was on holiday looking for some great fish and chips to enjoy on the sea front. I came across this place and I wasn't disappointed. The fish and chips were excellent quality however what I enjoyed the most was the owners attitude. He was friendly, informative and funny even cracking the odd dad joke.
