Great place to meet up !
All had breakfast rolls or light lunch and ice creams / sundaes. Plenty of choice and a good price. The play park was perfect for the kids. Definitely be back.
Had a meal in the restaurant, very impressed, great quality food, portions, freshly cooked, piping hot, great all round. Nice service. Highly recommend.
This cafe is now under new ownership and is called THE KNOWES. It is open from 9:30 until 4 (3 on a Sunday).
It has been under new ownership since February this year and has had a lick of paint and a fresh menu - albeit broadly similar to the old one.
Having visited the cafe several times on visits to Kelso over the last few years, it remains my favourite venue to get a hot drink and a simple meal. The premises are kept very clean and presentable.
Always assured of a great welcome from a young staff. Very hard working and a smile always. Food great and great coffee. Had bacon roll - bacon extremely crispy which is lovely.
After waiting for a table we was sat at a dirty one eventually cleared mostly then when asked to clear the rest tried to bring starters on a dirty table and then gave our glasses and poppadoms to another table absolutely disgusting..
Nice place to eat, visitor centre but well set out. Lunch was nice & pet friendly. Free parking outside. Staff gave Misty bones to eat whilst we had our lunch.
We were a group of 18 friends who had arranged a private lunch at the Gordon Arms. Bryn's food preparation and Oxana's service excellently complimented each other as we all enjoyed a couple of hours of great socialising.
I would highly recommend this restaurant for a private function of simply for regular dining.
Visited Castle Douglas last week and had lunch at the Scottish Pantry.
Our soup and sandwiches were very pleasant and the soup was piping hot.
Coffee and cake to finish off.
The prices were very reasonable and I would happily recommend it.
Enjoyed a delicious lunch this afternoon at The Ark in Kipford. Cake and coffee also superb. Owner and staff very warm and friendly. Will be coming back next time we are over here.

Lovely, welcoming place. Just a small local pub that has a slightly alternative feel to it.
My only complaint is that the music can be a bit loud at times which make chatting hard.
We popped in on the Tuesday and had a very nice panini and poached eggs on toast which were perfectly done. As we enjoyed our meal ,we visited again however this time the poached eggs were cold and hard and the full breakfast appeared to have been deep fried ,all items were hard and some items were overdone . Both the cups were tea stained . The haggis was tasty and well cooked .
Friendly, relaxed, flexible and fun. Nick was a brilliant teacher and good company. Took Mother for some quality time together and she was immediately put at ease and we both had a lovely time. Will definitely go again. If you want quality experiences with friends and family AND you want to learn some great life skills to boot then book your place!
A fabulous visit dog friendly, perfect service with a smile, very enjoyable visit great food and service real relaxing treat and enjoyable all round definitely worth a visit, delicious 😋 😀
What a combination. Lovely food and whiskey and wine to buy. Nice coffee and good service from the staff. We had our dogs with and the weather was great so we were sitting outside.
