Popped into Kings for lunch and wasn’t disappointed. What a lovely hidden gem. Just wanted something light and opted for a salad, you chose 4 items could add something of protein to bulk out and a dressing. I chose Tomatoes, cucumber, feta & roasted peppers/onions with added lemon mayo chicken. The dressing was balsamic & olive oil. It had leaves underneath. For a drink I chose water as I don’t do hot drinks and they gave me the option of tap water which was nice instead of buying a bottle. My friends had a croissant & a toasted baguette with bacon & Brie. There was plenty to choose from. The atmosphere was relaxed and service was quick and friendly. Disabled friendly. My friend was in a motorised wheelchair and there was plenty of room. Well worth a visit if you’re a bit peckish. They had a few cake options for after if the mood takes you.

Went here for a coffee about 3.30pm on a Saturday afternoon. There was a sign just inside the door saying please wait to be seated. We stood for a couple of minutes and seemed to be ignored by staff, who weren't especially busy, as the place was quiet. Eventually a girl behind the counter gestured for us to go over to her. She told us that the kitchen was closed and they were only offering tea & coffee which was all we wanted anyway. I ordered two cappuccinos and a glass of cold water. We were then asked to find a table. There were plenty seats available so we sat and waited for our coffees. A young girl brought the coffees over but no glass of water, so I had to go and ask for it at the counter. I can't say we really enjoyed the coffees as they were only lukewarm, and I would rather have a hot coffee than something with a fancy pattern on top. At £6.20 for two, it was rather overpriced, and not even a very large cup. I won't be rushing back, there are plenty better places than this.

Game in here on Friday for lunch. Given menus to have a look at 1 person on the till taking orders young girl who was making the coffees and a woman at the counter making all the orders and 2 young boys wandering about all the time doing nothing. Poor woman making up orders was rushed off her feet and these 2 guys kept doing nothing she had to advance tables need cleared food to be taking out. These 2 are scared to work then decided to make calls on their phone while people's orders are sitting waiting to be served. This is not the Kings book shop what it used to be as the service was certainly not to this standard. Poor woman needs a hand in the kitchen making up orders while you guys talk and text on your phones. Toasted sandwich was alright but a bit cold as it had been sitting out for a few minutes. Will certainly not be going back here.

Been here a few times and although the menu is simple, each offering is healthy, unorthodox and really refreshing options compared to your standard high street fare. We've never had a bad meal here and the outdoor seating means we can sit with our toddler in the sunshine and have a really chilled experience. Staff efficient and polite. Black tea really lovely quality. The atmosphere/decor inside is lovely too. All in all a really good place to come for lunch.

Went for lunch with all the family. Two of us ordered cheese toasties but cheese-and tomato ones came. We informed the staff but accepted the food rather than have the food wasted. A few minutes later an amazingly rude waitress came up with the correct order and blamed us for her staffs error. She then went to the table that should have received the tomato sandwich to politely apologise. Counter staff probably could not hear each other as both background music was playing and tennis television projected on a wall. Not the welcoming place it once was.

When They eventually came, (no garnish ) they were very over done , we couldn’t even get our knife to cut through it and had to just break them in half and nearly broke our teeth in half as well. Totally spoiled our get together. Ps my uncle wouldn’t let me complain so I turned it upside down on the plate so it was visible.

We wanted a cup of good coffee and a snack, but didn’t feel like patronizing the chain coffee shops. For this reason we chose Kings, which is a pleasant café with different sized tables and reclining chairs. Our latte and cappuccino were very good, the pasties de natas good enough to justify getting a second one, and the pulled pork/cole slaw toastie such a delicious combination, especially since it had been heated up, that I gobbled up the entire sandwich which is quite uncharacteristic for me.There seems to be many books of a religious nature on sale in the café, too.

Dumfries has many places to find a lunchtime or mid-morning place to eat, but here are two good ones, next door but one to each other, in Queensberry Street, just off High Street. Kings coffee shop has excellent coffee, pleasant staff and a range of paninis etc. a good place to meet friends or read a paper or maybe check e mails. Another choice is Mrs. Greene's, 'home to good food and all kinds of cakey loveliness'a technicolour retro cafe, a thoroughly cheerful place. You are shopping? We both got chocolate ones which I loved as I love chocolate but my partner didn't like it as he hasn't got such a sweet tooth! We then went back the next day and I got a strawberry blended ice drink and my partner got a summer fruits one and these are definitely what brought us back the third time! We absolutely loved them! The last time we went (only because we don't live in Scotland and we're going home) we got some good! I got the mushroom and elemental ciabatta and my partner got the bacon and Brie baguette. We both enjoyed our good! I would maybe suggest a little salt on the mushroom ciabatta and maybe a little less time in the grill and it would be 100% perfect! Having been recommended by friends as first class decided to visit for a coffee and scone/cake. Cafe was nice and clean with light and airy atmosphere. We may just have been unlucky but at 1040hrs there were only two scones and very poor selection of cakes and biscuits on offer and that was disappointing. When we left an hour later there were more cakes etc on display for sale. Coffee was nice. Toilets clean and tidy. May check out other local coffee shops next visit.

Although i like this place as it has friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere the coffee is a problem. It is served in really small cups and is always barely lukewarm.I know coffee isn't meant to be scalding but it should at least be hot!The price for what you get is too high-In costa you get more coffee for your money.

Been past loads of time but First time I've been in here!! Brilliant relaxed surroundings, friendly staff and one of those rare places that openly cater to most dietary needs. Think I'll be back here again.

Visited this coffee shop and enjoyed fabulous hot chocolate. The choice of coffee looked good too. We didn't have a lot of spare time and appreciated the quick service. Will probably try the coffee if we visit again.

The SWI had our Christmas Meal here this year and pre ordered. I had the turkey and trimmings which was served on a huge platter and three huge slices of turkey. Everything cooked to perfection. I took the apple strudel and ice cream - great ice cream. Everyone enjoyed what they had ordered and a lovely atmosphere, and attentive serving staff who were pleased to see us and cheery.

We had a superb midweek supper here with friends in November. Bit of a trek from Dumfries but well worth the visit, and even closer to the M74 for anyone travelling up to Scotland in need of a refreshment. The haggis bites were delicious and the lamb kleftiko simply melted in the mouth. Their Chilean SB was extremely gluggable and very reasonably priced. Abbey and Jack were the best hosts. Highly recommended.

A late lunch stop off. Beautiful coffee, not an oz of fat in the pasty and a chocolate twist that I had eaten most of before I remembered to take a photo! Another quality visit. Thanks 😊

This is without a doubt the best place for lunch in Dumfries. The food just gets better and better. We ordered a selection of 4 dishes none of which disappointed 🥰
