A nice small cafe that offers a limited but adequate menu. Limited seating inside but they have outside tables to. Dogs are allowed inside at the discretion of the owners which I think is governed by how many are already in. The food was very nice but you may have to wait at busy times and they do run out of things especially at busy periods. Did not notice any gluten free choice but I may be wrong. All in all a very nice cafe with a small shop attached.

Stopped off at this delightful village and discovered The Ark. A small delightful tea room with a big heart. The staff were so welcoming and patient that it was a pleasure to be waited upon. The food was of an excellent quality and reasonably priced. We spent a very pleasant hour looking over the sailing boats anchored in the water. There is also a small gift shop and an ice cream counter with an extensive range of flavours. Highly commended stop off.

The Ark , Kippford is back to being called " The Ark " . It is under new management with a nice couple from Kirkbean running it ( Very Effectively ) It now has 20 plus tables including 10 outside. Some with Umbrellas so Shade on a hot day. A simple Light Lunch Menu, which is quite inexpensive. But will appeal to families. Food is of really good quality at a realistic price. Baking and Quiches by Annette Need . ( Who needs no introduction in this area as she is a brilliant baker 😁and has even featured on TV ) The shop is selling Ice Cream , Gifts , and an ever increasing range of local delicatessen treats. Open 7 days a week til October We were just there for an afternoon cuppa , but delighted it is back being run by an energetic couple who clearly have flare. We had a lovely cuppa and a Lovely Sponge with Cream and Fresh Strawberries. Sensational , Service was polite , efficient and friendly. Great prices. Recommended to all. For families it is a must and won't break the bank.

It's a shame when you feel your custom is inconveniencing the owner. Fergus was very amiable and I enjoyed my cup of tea. It's important in small places like Kipford that somewhere to get a cuppa and a snack is available and that customers are made to feel welcome, not a nuisance. I understand everyone can have a bad day.

Was very busy and understaffed, but unforgiveable was advertising cappuccino and latte, and charging a premium when they don't have a machine. They just have a coffee percolator, then add some frothed milk. Completely unacceptable, and a latte seemed to be beyond their understanding. It had less milk in than a cappuccino and was undrinkable. Recently re-opened, they need to buck up their ideas, and the husband of the owner needs to muck in instead of just chatting to customers

Has just changed hands and decided to give it a go. We had a great wee walk at Kippford and then called in for an early morning treat. Their Bacon Roll , was delicious and was served with salsa pasta and a side salad ! Everything was lovely but the Salsa Pasta was just amazing and sooooo delicious. Also on display were the most inviting selection of Cakes and Scones , made I believe by a local celebrity chef who started in " My Kitchen Rools" on TV. The prices were very reasonable and the service was fantastic. A very polite young man took our order , but all the staff on the premises spoke to us and we're very friendly. Can't wait until my next visit. Would recommend to everyone.

We have always wanted to try this little cafe, there is not much choice of eating places in the winter season so it was really our only option. The toasties and paninis are £7.95/£8.95 and are meant to come with crisps and salad but this was missing from our order so two slice of bread and melted cheese for £8? Totally ludicrous! The food was lovely but definitely not worth the prices being charged, don't think we would rush back!

Arrived here on a beautiful sunny and warm Wednesday afternoon but found the tearoom closed (as it appears to be most days). Confusing and conflicting notices about when it is open. So takeaway only, the service was unwelcoming, poor cake offerings, and expensive. This place should be a goldmine but, as it is, it won’t be. Go to the Anchor pub, just along the road, where the food and service are very good!

Pretty much fell upon The Ark by accident. We had taken lunch at The Anchor and decided to walk it off. We couldn't resist the ice creams so went in and bought some. The ice cream is gorgeous. The four of us sampled different flavours and none of us was disappointed. Having noticed the adjoining cafe we decided to have a light lunch in there on a subsequent day. The cafe is spotlessly clean, the service was first class and the customer toilets spotlessly clean also. We made several more trips for ice cream during our stay in Sandyhills. It was well worth it. Some may complain it is a bit pricey. We have an artisan ice cream shop in our home town and the prices are quite comparable. If you want a cheap ice cream - buy a Mr Whippy!

Went here twice only because the little tiny village has a fantastic beach right at the end. We have two small dogs but they don’t let dogs in. Their excuse is that they have a counter with food ie cakes, scones etc. If they speak to the EHO rather making up their own rules it would be better for their customer base. There is nothing to stop dogs going into cafes except short sighted owners who are slowly losing trade to the cafes/restaurants that do. On our first day it started to rain slightly so we ate outside in the rain!! Not sure what the owners thought about their customers eating out in the rain but hey ho, they have their reasons. Second visit was slightly better, we knew not to ask as we knew that we would get short shrift so sat outside. Because it was September, it was wasp season and there were many many wasps, I’ve never eaten cake quicker in my life.

We visited for lunch while on holiday. I had the coronation chicken salad. It was so tasty I could have licked the plate. There was a good choice of lovely fresh food and daily specials. The decor is lovely - really pretty wallpaper. And the views are beautiful.

This tea room is very popular and a little small so to may not get a table at busy times. Lovely staff, great location.

Visited the Frothy this morning for the first & very last time as the cafe is closing. Whilst the cafe was comfortable the coffee wasn’t the best ever tasted and we were stunned at the price! Compared to other coffee houses close by it was surprising; could this be a reason they are not finding it profitable?

Went for breakfast & the place was pretty quiet. Disappointed with portion size. Ordered 2 x breakfast & 2 x cup of teas which came to £25.75. Gave feedback to member of staff & they were not interested. Won’t be back.

I go here regularly for a carvery as it is one of the best I have been to. I am a very fussy eater and to find a carvery that serves chicken as an option is surprising difficult. The three meats to choose from are usually chicken, beef and gammon/ham. The veg/side options usually include cauliflower cheese, broccoli, carrots, Yorkshire pudding, cocktail sausages and stuffing, but the roast tatties are my favourite part of the meal! You are limited to going up to fill your plate only once but I usually leave feeling very full. Sometimes I have soup as a starter as well depending on what kind it is. I highly recommend giving the carvery a go for anyone who is a fan of a good roast!

This cafe served the worst scone I have ever had / didn't have. (and that's saying something as I'm in my 70s and have had a few in my time. You could build a house with a few of them. Inedible expensive rubbish. It came in a paper bag, no plate and a wooden disposable knife which struggled to cut it. The coffee was served in a paper cup. But was drinkable. Cost over £13 for two coffees and two inedible scones. I am disgusted and will definitely won't be back

Friendly, relaxed, flexible and fun. Nick was a brilliant teacher and good company. Took Mother for some quality time together and she was immediately put at ease and we both had a lovely time. Will definitely go again. If you want quality experiences with friends and family AND you want to learn some great life skills to boot then book your place!
