The best restaurants in Lowlands

This place is AMAZING. Their chicken wings are the best I've ever tasted. The staff are so courteous and friendly. Service was fast & efficient and the food was all cooked to perfection. Prices were very reasonable for the quality and quantity. I can really recommend them, and we will definitely be back.

First ever visit on a Sunday. Three course lunch for £15, two for £12 and just the main for £8.95. Good food and comes with a hot or cold drink (cannot say cold as fruit juice had not been chilled). Will be back.

Old Causeway Happy Hour is unbeatable! Awesome wings, awesome oysters, great fries, yummy mussels, succulent sautéed asparagus, excellent brussel sprouts, cold beers, unique calamari, bonsai Oysters, and barkeeps Samantha and Brownie are the absolue best! Love this place! And Derick! But shhhh. Don't tell anyone. Let's keep it our little secret. Ok? Shhhhh......

Another great meal at the backstreet for my friends birthday , I had breaded brie followed by a flat iron steak, everything was really good again, great service and quality food, will be back soon

The food is amazing and the staff can't do enough for you . We were here tonight and met new staff member Jay who is an absolute gem !! Can't wait to come back again ! Nice cafe at the lighthouse with amazing views. Staff friendly and the sausage barm we had was nice. Just a real shame that dogs are not allowed in any part of the cafe. It was quiet when we went with only 6 cars in the car park and 5 of those had dogs with them including ours. We would have gone again but just too cold at beginning of March to sit outside.

Lovely lunch, ciabatta sandwiches very tasty. However, Gather is closing as a restaurant to become a wedding venue. Would have recommended if it didn't close tomorrow

What a fantastic place! A lovely hotel in a stunning building, great food (breakfast included + we had dinner one night), lovely staff. We brought our dog and she was made very welcome too.

We booked a birthday spa treat, having previously eaten at the hotel. Surroundings are beautiful , but using the outdoor pool felt like an endurance test and could not have been described even as warm. Similarly, the relaxation area was chilly and sitting around in cold, wet costumes, having been provided with only one towel and one (inevitably sopping and cold) robe was somewhat miserable, especially as that also had to suffice after a final shower. The very small hot tub was full throughout our stay; clearly it's not big enough. Changing facilities were cramped, and my friend changed in the shower cubicle for privacy. Lockers are very narrow and full after a winter coat has gone in. If I'd known toiletries were minimal, I'd have brought some. The day wasn't a disaster, but it was disappointing and I've had much better experiences at less costly spas, both at home and abroad.

Came in to get my daughter something to eat. It was towards the end of the night and they were cleaning up. Place was spotless. I've never seen such a clean shop where there's a lot of frying. A great sign. And indeed the fish and chips was excellent. We live in Edinburgh so we are not around often but I've bookmarked it so I don't forget to come back.

We had a lovely 4 night stay in this boutique accommodation. Its very easy to recommend! The furnishings and bathroom facilities are top class, and the standard of room servicing, never slipped. Really impressive. Cooked breakfasts were delicious and everything well organised. The evening menu we used once and were very pleased. Staff were friendly, and the owner went above and beyond the call of duty to make our stay truly memorable! A wonderful stay in Gatehouse!

This hotel stay has been exceptional. There is an ambiance of tranquility which would be worth millions if it could be bottled. The staff were superb and the food was to die for, all of which added to creating that “wow” feeling. I would definitely recommend the tasting menu.
