One of the best little tea rooms I've been to. Coffee & delicious cake. The lady who owns it is lovely , very chatty. Added bonus, there is a selection of small antiques for sale. I went back the following day for 1 thing & bought 6 things as couldn't make my mind up . Lots of lovely things to browse through. Will definitely visit again when in the area.

Starter was nice but that was just bread with tomatoes so nothing cooked. Main course Traditional home cooked beef lasagne..... This lacked beef mince, in fact it was more like trying and spot the mince! Plus it had a hard lump of rubbery cheese in the lasagna. Is this really Italian? I think a pint of birra moretti was priced at £5.00 but charged £5.95. Over £25 for a poor meal and a beer. Basic cooking and over priced and if you want better food then go elsewhere. Plus the main waiter guy was very impatient at times and seemed more interested in a group of customers rather than individuals.

Great coffee and scones late in the day

Pizzas had far too much faux mozzarella making them greasy and stodgy, and so little topping you could hardly taste it. Bases were not at all crispy.

Had the steak, it was superb as was the accompanying haggis, onion rings and chips. Enjoyed every morsel!

Amazing coffee, fantastic service. Great way to start or end a cycle in the tweed valley.

Well run, recently extensively modernised hotel. Would recommend!

Wonderful food and service with a homely atmosphere..Food and drink selection was fantastic and very reasonable prices.. Highly recommend and almost forgot to mention the beautiful arts and crafts for sale.

We had our wedding at The Mill Forge on 12/11/24 and our whole 2 night stay there and the wedding day was absolutely perfect. We arrived on the Monday with our 24 guests, and left on the Wednesday and every single one of our guests commented on how amazing all of the staff had been at the Mill. They asked for all of our decorations and Pauline decorated the roundhouse for us so perfectly, better than I could have done. Jamie on reception was great too! The bar/ restaurant staff and breakfast staff were all so lovely and accommodating to us all and made us feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The bridal suite was perfect, with complimentary chocolates, shot glasses and Prosecco and so much space to get ready the morning of the wedding. All of our guests were so happy with their rooms too. The food was lovely, especially the breakfast which was a pleasant surprise as we didn’t know it was included ☺️. Our wedding day was perfect. The chapel looked absolutely beautiful and the roundhouse room for our meal was stunning. Every single person on that day was just amazing honestly we can not fault any of it. The day was perfect and it was so much better than we had imagined! The grounds for photographs were stunning and our photographer was absolutely lovely. The disco at night was so much fun and the staff were so accommodating in terms of music requests etc. Myself, my husband and all of our family members loved every minute of our stay here, we are SO glad we chose to have our wedding here and we would recommend it to everyone. Even my brother and his fiancé are wanting to get married here. We had a winter wedding package and I must say for the price, it was just the perfect day. We were all over the moon with all of it. Thankyou so much, I can’t remember everyone’s names but every single member of staff was brilliant though out the whole stay. Sophie & Ryan x

We where very disappointed, my wife ordered the scallops which where okay, nothing special at all. Also had the steak which was very tough and hard to cut, it also had to much fat on it, once again very disappointed. On a plus side the service was good and ambiance was nice. We will not rush back with Melrose offering so many other options. Very disappointed as we looked forward to eating here while on holiday from overseas.

It's a great shame that this place will be closing shortly because the food and the staff are so lovely! Super according to a coeliac and went above + beyond in everything. Best of luck to Mr Pooks and all those involved in this little gem.
