Nice vibe and delicious food. Friendly, helpful staff. Reuben toastie and loaded sweet potato fries were yummy, as was the soup and the coffee. Lovely walk round the gardens, and it was quiet and sunny.

A cozy wood fire heats the space at the back. Scones were amazing as well as the pancakes. I should have asked for my scone warmed up. Coffee and tea was excellent. Tea was from tea leaves and the coffee nice and strong!

We've been here a few times now, whenever we're in the area we can't resist swinging by. The food is of exceptionally high quality, a much better standard of cafe than most you can find in the city actually. It's a bit on the pricey side but with reliably tasty food and some wonderful cake options, don't mind paying a little more as eating here is a wonderful treat. Also the service is flawless, really hard working staff who are professional, friendly and efficient. The burgers here are our go to meal as we usually struggle to get a properly cooked burger in most restaurants but they really know what they're doing in this kitchen. Their burgers have a perfect smoky flavour, the flavoursome crispy crust from being well seared on the grill and juicy through the middle. Also on offer, they provide a really delicious selection of cakes. We tried a couple of the vegan options and they were surprisingly delicious. The Jaffa cake flavour was my favourite. Highly recommended.

I’d just like to say what a lovely lunch we had yesterday with our 3 year old grandson The staff were so lovely I planned to give my grandson some of my soup and asked for a small empty bowl for him The chef however gave me a full bowl and a small extra bowl free of charge for him even putting cold milk in his to get it down in temperature for him without being asked So very thoughtful

Popped in for a light lunch before exploring the gardens. My husband and I both had the tomato & chilli soup. The soup tasted fresh, homemade, and had lots of flavour. The wholemeal bread and butter served with it was also great. My husband ordered a latte, which he said was lovely and smooth, but he was not given any sugar and we couldn't catch the waitresses attention as they were busy. Overall, a lovely spot for lunch and would recommend to others to visit before exploring the gardens.

Kailzie catered for our wedding lunch of 20 people and it was exceptional from start to finish. John put an amazing menu together for us from canapes through to dessert and coffee for our big day. Not only was the food delicious but the staff were all super friendly and attentive throughout. Dietary requirements were carefully navigated and nothing was too much trouble. Thanks again to the whole team at Kailzie Courtyard café!

Really enjoyed our lunch at the courtyard cafe today. The courtyard was sunny and sheltered, with umbrellas and space inside for those looking for shade. Staff were great: really polite, helpful and knowledgeable, and food was delicious (cauliflower bowl, toastie, and sweet potato loaded fries). Highly recommend!

Tasty food, especially the pancakes. Staff are friendly and the atmosphere is lovely. The prices are quite steep though. £9 for a cheese toastie?! Can't really justify that in any way.

Wow what a find! We had lunch here and it was fabulous. Our highlight was the loaded sweet potato fries with cinnamon, pomegranate, and sriracha mayo. Everything was outstanding, we will be back.

The food is outstanding. What a nice hidden gem! Polite and friendly staff. Will need to go back to try the cakes too. I’ve had the best avocado toast ever and my partner had a prego (which is a traditional Portuguese sandwich) and he says it was absolutely delicious and very tender.

Such a lovely place. The staff is very friendly. We've been there several times. The food was always delicious! At our last visit we've been there with friends and two small children. The children menu is a nice selection and the food was very tasty, portion size perfect for a 6 year old (and a very hungry 2 year old). The adults had a lovely three course menu. Each dish was well presented and tasted delicious. We will be coming back!

We've been here for lunch quite regularly. It has a lovely relaxed atmosphere and it's great in the summer to either sit in the courtyard or inside the cafe with the big doors open. It's also really cosy in the winter with the wood burning stove. The staff are always polite and friendly and service is prompt. I have to say the food is always delicious, it feels very elevated and is made with lovely fresh ingredients. We went for dinner here for the first time yesterday and enjoyed every bite of our steak Diane, meze board and lamb kofte. Would definitely recommend.

We had lunch here and although the restaurant looks nice and the surroundings are nice the food was horrendous. Had a very small salad that was actually rancid. Wouldn't go back here. Staff were not well trained either. Pleasant but not professional. Sorry to put such a negative post but save your money and eat somewhere decent.

Overall an excellent experience. Friendly, one feels 'looked after'. Local food, always delicious. Feels pricey by Borders standards, but quality wise it really is a cut above anything else in the area. The same food and experience in Edinburgh would be eye wateringly expensive.

Starter was nice but that was just bread with tomatoes so nothing cooked. Main course Traditional home cooked beef lasagne..... This lacked beef mince, in fact it was more like trying and spot the mince! Plus it had a hard lump of rubbery cheese in the lasagna. Is this really Italian? I think a pint of birra moretti was priced at £5.00 but charged £5.95. Over £25 for a poor meal and a beer. Basic cooking and over priced and if you want better food then go elsewhere. Plus the main waiter guy was very impatient at times and seemed more interested in a group of customers rather than individuals.
