SCHLOSS Roxburghe, part of Destination by Hyatt in Scottish Borders

We booked a birthday spa treat, having previously eaten at the hotel. Surroundings are beautiful , but using the outdoor pool felt like an endurance test and could not have been described even as warm. Similarly, the relaxation area was chilly and sitting around in cold, wet costumes, having been provided with only one towel and one (inevitably sopping and cold) robe was somewhat miserable, especially as that also had to suffice after a final shower. The very small hot tub was full throughout our stay; clearly it's not big enough. Changing facilities were cramped, and my friend changed in the shower cubicle for privacy. Lockers are very narrow and full after a winter coat has gone in. If I'd known toiletries were minimal, I'd have brought some. The day wasn't a disaster, but it was disappointing and I've had much better experiences at less costly spas, both at home and abroad.

2nd visit to Schloss Roxburghe. Spa facilities and breakfast were great. Staff were friendly. Usually, hotel information is located in a small file in the room or on the TV, but in this instance, neither was available. Spoke to staff and assured it is on the TV, spent half an hour trying to find it and no luck. Would say it's more 4 star than a 5 in comparison to other hotels we have been to.

Was treated to a spa day here and loved it! The hotel and spa are beautiful and have been finished to an extremely high standard. Therapist was lovely and treatments were so good! Spa is relaxing and has access to outdoor heated pool and sauna. Lovely to sit in the comfortable bar for drinks after too.

Good hotel,but I wouldn't reccomended it for people with children. They sort of tolerate children but aren't very welcoming. You feel like you are an imposition the whole time. Pool hours are very strict, 9am to 10am in the morning and 4pm to 5pm in the evening. One of the restaurants doesn't allow children for dinner. Even early seating. Kids club only open Wednesday to Saturday. However, it wasn't open on Wednesday on Christmas. No Father Christmas or anything for children. It's our first stay at a Hyatt property. So I can't tell if that is how all of them are. In comparison to other five starred hotels, it didn't feel friendly. Normally, we stay at Four Seasons or Mandarin. They provide toys, coloring, pool toys, robes, shampoo, and so many other basic things for children, so you feel welcome. Also, there are always some Christmas or Easter activities for little ones. Schloss had nothing planned.

Can't fault hotel and facilities but service in Charlie's was woeful. Our order for dinner appeared to be forgotten and we had to go ask for our food after 40mins. Pretty poor considering the price point of this hotel.

The Roxburghe get it absolutely spot on. As a professional coach and model not being able to deviate from a routine, but at the same time wanting to enjoy the downtime and recuperation - Schloss Roxburghe gets the blend perfectly with the food being of a high quality, real attention to guests' details for breakfast, a gym that is well-equipped, functional and a very good use of space and permits 24 hour access which is a huge help. Full range of plant based milks and legislates for every preference as well as the conventional.

* Edit November 2024 - Returned a year later and the stay was just as amazing as the first time! Can’t recommend enough!! November 2023 - An absolutely magical weekend away for my boyfriend’s birthday! The whole weekend was amazing and the hotel, room and amenities were 11/10! I sent over some balloons that the team beautifully put up in the room and it was such a lovely surprise! The spa was beautiful and the breakfast buffet was delicious! We really felt like we were living in luxury! We can’t wait to return and we will definitely be recommending the Schloss Roxburghe! Can’t say enough good things!

An outdoor pool, open all year, what's not to like?

Incredibly beautiful hotel with a large area for the soul and relaxation. The food in the restaurant is quite tasty, an abundance of wine, very friendly staff, spa, massage, sauna and a warm pool on the hotel grounds that allows you to swim in it even when it rains. A large selection of products at the buffet for breakfast and of course I can not help but note the contingent of people who come there, these are only connoisseurs of the good life👌

My husband and I stayed two nights during our honeymoon. The hotel and spa is incredibly relaxing. The staff are all very nice, helpful and accommodating. The rooms are beautiful. The food is delicious. We hope to be back!

Excellent stay. Grounds are lovely. Estate room good size and great huge bed. Spa outstanding and signature massage treatments were also great. Food lovely. Stayed two nights and never left the hotel grounds - lovely relaxing place to be. Thanks!

My second stay at this hotel, with some definite improvements since my prior stay. Service for breakfast was very good, the food options were excellent, and everything looked like it had been prepared with care and attention. However I can confirm, and this is just my personal preference, I still hate the breakfast sausage ! It's very firm and to a man who enjoys 98 out of 100 types of sausage, this would be 99 or 100 :O The facilities (pool, hot tub, sauna, etc.) are excellent. Service from check in to check out was very good. With prices anywhere from 200-300 GBP, this hotel is a great use of a Hyatt Credit Card Cat 4 Free Night :D

Just spent 2 nights here with a friend after seeing it on TikTok and it did not disappoint! From start to finish the service was exceptional. Food was great! We had an afternoon tea too and were looked after by Flavia, she was a very attentive and lovely girl and we had a great chat too. We also booked Swedish massages and these were SO good! I think I fell asleep twice throughout. The spa was probably the nicest we had ever been to. Only thing I’d say was missing was a steam room. Our room was modern and really nice decor. Our bed was so comfy that we got breakfast in bed delivered to our room and it was fresh and delicious! A very relaxed weekend and would defo come back for sure. The summer here would be incredible

My wife and I booked a night at this amazing location during our vacation through Northern England and Southern Scotland. We traveled over from the US for our wedding anniversary and to explore Kelso, the hometown of my wife's grandfather. Although the rates may seem on the high side, I can confidently say you truly get what you pay for. We were treated like royalty and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The resturant is high quality and the cocktails at the bar are top notch. We did not have the time to enjoy the other included amenities such as the heated pool or spa, but we did enjoy ordering our breakfast in bed. The relatively later check-out was nice as well. Thank you for the wonderful stay and making our time in Scotland remarkable.

Enjoyed it but felt it was well overpriced. £30 overnight charge for a dog was excessive. 12.5% service charge added to the bill. Leisure facilities not as good as Portavadie Marina. Disappointing overall. Brilliant breakfast though and nice friendly staff.

Absolutely brilliant from arrival to departure and everything in between. Staff are excellent, food tremendous amd facilities top notch!
