Stunning views. Amazing food. Friendly staff. Quick service. Incredible donuts! And..... Dog friendly! Hats Off,best cafe I've been to in ages. I even bought some of the local art on canvas. 🍾

Popped in with a friend for a coffee and scone. Was a bit taken aback to be charged £15.50. My friend had a fruit and cinnamon and I had a fruit and maple syrup. The scones were big but very hard on the outside with slightly over fired bottoms. They were not well risen, as though the mix was too soft and they’d spread. They were dry and the two pats of butter and small dish of jam barely lubricated them. I asked about the price of the scones as the coffees were £2.75 each, but there was no price for the scones anywhere on the menu. I was told a basic scone was £4.50, fruit was another 50p and jam another 50p. This made the scones £5.50 a piece. This is, quite frankly, a startling price in an area renowned for coffee shops and good baking, being a hop and a skip away from Wigtown. We pop into various places for a scone and coffee most Wednesdays. We normally pay between £5.50 - £6.50 for coffee and a scone including the fruit and jam. The jam was out of a large plastic catering tub. Given that 3kg of catering strawberry jam costs around £28 and we got approximately 15 grams worth for 50p means the profit on the tub of jam was £100. This is an overpriced tourist trap. We will not be going back.

Delicious cake and coffee. The cafe is dog friendly with outside seating for fine weather. Would definitely visit again.

Delicious ice creams and scrumptious cakes, wish we had been in Garlieston long enough to sample a breakfast! Hopefully we’ll be back 🤞🏻

Really hate write this but …. Lovely setting, fantastic friendly staff , beautiful and clean.Dog friendly. But we ordered a salad for £13 , it was half a bag of super market salad (50p ingredient) tiny bit of feta and no bread or pitta. Absolutely disappointing.

Absolutely wonderful experience, lovely venue, friendly staff and honest fresh food. 10 /10 we look forward to getting back to the cafe soon.

10 out of 10 for an excellent full English breakfast with amazing views overlooking the bay. Polite, friendly service with a smile in a spotlessly clean cheerful setting. A must go to place if ever you are in the area.

Lovely little cafe in the village , right on the harbour front .... sells the most delicious cakes / scones / pies perfect with a coffee or too ... brought some lovely trinkets too ... very reasonably priced and very friendly staff oh and dog friendly too ... thankyou

Great cafe with such a range of delicious food for breakkie, brunch or lunch. Reasonably priced. The cakes are to die for and they offer a fair selection of vegan and gluten free. Staff are excellent and the entire environment really pleasing. Give it a try- you won’t regret it.

My wife and I were visiting the area and decided to pop in for lunch last Saturday. We ordered the homemade sausage roll and the pesto ciabatta. Overall we had a very positive experience, great service, excellent food. Would highly recommend!

My partner had the full breakfast with haggis and I had the vegetarian version. Both were superb and likely the best we've had anywhere. Would highly recommend.

The event I am writing about is one of the Hives Special Nights rather than their day to day catering (which is equally excellent!). It was a Balti evening, fully booked as always. The starter platter was brilliant (veggie version available), a poppadum with six beautifully prepared items nicely presented --almost full eating all that! Main course was a Chicken Balti, available as mild or spicy, presented in a bowl with a pile of rice on the side and accompanied by a herby piece of Nan. Excellent flavour and just enough not to over face. Lovely! For those who wanted there were desserts available. The Hive is a family run establishment at the heart of our community, they and their team are to be congratulated on their efforts providing such a warm and inviting welcome and such lovely grub!!!!!

Outstanding scones! The best I've eaten. Lovely staff. All round great place to be. Highly recommend this exceptional all round enjoyment zone! Mouth watering in anticipation of next visit.

A bit disappointed... Nice selection of brunch or lunch items on the menu, however I really fancied French Toast with bacon and maple syrup (which wasn't on the menu). The waitress originally said that would be no problem, then went to the kitchen where the chef must have refused to make it. They have bread. They have eggs. They had pancakes with bacon and maple syrup on the menu. I really didn't think it was much to ask for French Toast with bacon and maple syrup and it's very easy to make. Disappointed that they refused to make something so simple. Ended up having a toastie instead which was OK.

Fabulous cafe in Garlieston right on b the seafront. We go there for hot chocolate and cake after swimming. Very friendly staff, excellent variety of delicious cakes and snacks and dog friendly !

Fabulous 3 Course Indian meal, great atmosphere, warm and friendly. Lucky to have such a great place to eat in Garlieston.

We have visited several times in the day time and have never been disappointed. Certainly the best in the area. Yes, it is a bit pricey , but as someone else said, this is reflected in the high quality. We were fortunate to get seats for their occasional fish evenings when the cafe appears to turn itself into a French bistro. The fish is caught locally. There is also a vegan choice.The location in the evening is also special with the moon shining on the sea across the little harbour.

Everything you'd want from a Coffee Shop! Plenty of choice and all freshly made - I had soup 2 days running - excellent and my partner scrambled eggs & cheese. As a real foodie and Masterchef contestant, I am very fussy about food quality and standards and this rates highly on my list! I may pop in for a last coffee before we leave tomorrow. It's on my 'Revisit List'

The Hive is a beautiful spot overlooking the sea with the warmest and friendliest staff with great coffee and delicious food! We visited during October and enjoyed our lunch so much that we decided to visit multiple during the week for coffee, pastries, breakfast, lunch… It really is a gem of a coffee shop where kids and dogs are welcome and add to the driest atmosphere. The menu is carefully considered with daily specials. The main chef is a lovely lady and clearly loves baking and cooking for people, this made all the difference when compared to so many places you visit today where the personal touch has seemingly disappeared. The coffee shop is warm, very clean, great toilets and overall a brilliant place to sit and relax, although it can get busy, and rightly so as it’s a lovely setting, but we never felt rushed to move on. The cakes and pastries are delicious, the coffee is hot and very tasty. What more could you want! Well done The Hive!

What can I say other than what an amazing coffee shop with even better staff. The food was well Presented, tasted great and the service was nothing short of terrific. I had take away cakes which were thoroughly enjoyed when returning home and the kids took away some of the best ice cream and milkshake. Definitely worth a visit, I will certainly be returning when I am back in Scotland. Xx

We had a truly delicious meal when The Hive had its seafood evening. John and Becky were the wonderful chefs, producing delicious, locally sourced food that was beautifully presented. The staff were friendly and welcoming and very attentive. We loved our evening, thank you! We are regulars at The Hive, and we cannot fault it in any way. They always welcome you with a smile and a friendly chat. The selection of cakes is always something to look forward to, and we've never been disappointed. We thoroughly recommend The Hive for amazing food, drinks and a great atmosphere. You'll love it!

Kerry the owner is very friendly, particularly to the older male guests. She made my father in law feel a little uncomfortable with her flirty manner, but that is how some people are. Coffee was good and the cakes are to die for.

Lovely cafe in a scenic location. Good food and decent service. After our food had been served, a teapot fell and smashed on the floor at another table. This slowed down service. Overall, great cafe, amazing food and most important of all, lovely staff.

Stopped off for lunch and love The Hive. Great menu - soup, toasties, cakes etc and although not the cheapest, the quality justifies it. Lovely modern interior and very friendly staff - it’s also set in a lovely village by the sea. A real gem Of a place so would highly recommend

I have been to The Hive on numerous occasions with family, friends and my dog! Always a great selection of food and cakes on offer. Would highly recommend the afternoon tea’s there is so much choice and it’s definitely quality and value for what you get. ❤️ Staff are always friendly and helpful. Love how it’s a family business who are employing local people and sourcing local produce. The Gelato is scrumptious and they even have doggie ice cream!! 🐶. Definitely an eleven out of ten from myself and family (not forgetting Molly) my dog. Thank you to everyone who works in The Hive! 🥳 🎉 ❤️

We went twice and you can't go wrong. Great food...light fare or big breakfast. Superb cakes, scones and other desserts. Coffee and tea choices plenty. Lovely atmosphere with kind and friendly staff.

Finally got around to visiting this cafe and intend to make it a regular spot while we are up here visiting Garlieston. Good food, excellent coffee and the ice cream sundae was huge! All served with a smile. I’m pleased to recommend this cafe.

This is a gem of a eatery overlooking Garlieston Bay. We enjoyed a variety of ice creams and cakes whilst staying on the CAMC site nearby. There is seating indoors and out. Dogs are accepted and a special ice cream for your pooch is available!...

Just returned from a weekend at Garlieston. Visited the hive twice for coffee and cake. What a lovely place,very helpful staff who made us feel so welcome as well as our dog,Maggie. A great asset to this lovely village. Look forward to returning soon

Cherry and almond scones are fantastic and need very little jam and butter, need to come back to try and have an icecream sundae, when todays sugar rush has calmed down in a week or so! Omelette and Cornish pastie both very good

Gorgeous little cafe with a very warm welcome. Dog friendly, fabulous views of the bay & lots of yummy food to choose from. So many lovely little touches. We even took some cakes away to enjoy later. Highly recommend.

A great find in Garlieston. Find here a good range of cakes and pastries, plus soups and more substantial dishes. Try the fabulous pastel de nata (custard tarts). Charming and efficient service too.
