Jim Jack's Fish & Chips - Peebles in Scottish Borders

Came in to get my daughter something to eat. It was towards the end of the night and they were cleaning up. Place was spotless. I've never seen such a clean shop where there's a lot of frying. A great sign. And indeed the fish and chips was excellent. We live in Edinburgh so we are not around often but I've bookmarked it so I don't forget to come back.

Not sure how this place is rated as highly as it is . Portion size is appalling ! Chips are ok Batter on everything was oily and chewy. Don't often bin a chippy but this was grim. Do better!

The menu in here is perfect! So simple and not complex. Very easy to read and understand. Staff were friendly and there was a little bench next to the window to have a seat whilst waiting for food to cook. Food was cooked fresh, the burger in a bun was a perfect burger with everything on it that should be on a burger! Fully recommend visiting this chippy, there’s even a seating area if prefer to eat in.

Best chippy chips going! Was in peebles for a wedding but seriously considering driving down for some chips! Fresh, hot and crunchy! If your in town give them a go!

Stayed down in Peebles for the weekend. Google told me this was the best chippy and it didn't disappoint. Great food at a good price. Highly recommend

Great food, lots of people around which is good as it means fishes are fresh cause of how busy this place is, wouldn't recommend anything else than fresh food being cook in front of ya as all those deep fry frozen food I never would recommend to anyone everywhere else too.

I go regularly its the best around here never had a bad chippy fron then.

travelled to Peebles from Ayrshire to stay at Hydro and really glad we popped out to here for fish and chips. Haddock was super fresh chips were great. Keep the great work up :)

We always eat in at the little restaurant, so piping hot and batter crisp, with a lovely cup of tea. Best curry sauce ever.

Great little chippy, the breaded fish is really well cooked and the hot n kickin chicken is pretty good. Would recommend it if your in town.

Fantastic local chippy. Had possibly the best Scampi and Chips ever... The curry sauce was the icing on the pudding (so to speak)

First visit to this amazing chippy, very busy when I popped in, great system put your order in get a number wait whilst your fish and chips are fried to order. Once ready they shout out your number DONE. All in all I waited around ten minutes, well worth the wait the food was absolutely amazing fish fresh, flaky, crispy batter and the chips were brilliant chippy chips. Staff very welcoming, friendly and helpful. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Visited Peebles today from West Lothian. We usually head up to Anstruther for a fish supper but decided to come here for a change. We weren't disappointed! Much cheaper than Anstruther and just as good. Made to order and both the fish and the chips were perfectly crispy. Portion sizes just right. Shop was spotless. We will defo be back 👍🏻

Went here 20+ years ago and had there deep fried pizza. Come up for holiday with my partner. Their still here and so is the pizza. Absolutely amazing still.

The best fish and chips ....cooked to order l get mini fish chips mushy peas bread and butter can of coke under £9 sit in ...good size portion highly recommend l travel 30 mins by car to eat here staff lovely can't praise enough 😁

Vert busy evening..not too long to wait for delicious food. Amazing choices and variety of foods. Great relaxed service. Thoroughly recommend this establishment. Go for it.

Food was decent, attitude off the staff serving was absolutely shocking, in turn created a poor atmosphere. No need to have an opinion on what food customers are ordering. Poor show. Then tried cleaning the front of the Bain Maria although half was missed as the ladie couldn’t bend down far enough to reach the bottom. NOTE don’t half clean something in front of paying customers.

Went in had a lovely fish tea batter thin an crispy chips, mushy peas all hot. The young girl that served me today was polite and helpful. Would recommend to try. If back in the area I will defo go again

Very nice chips - decent potato. Good Mince pie and the family enjoyed their fish. Would visit again as the price was very reasonable.

I would give it zero stars if there was option. By far the worst fish supper i have ever had in my life. Absoltuely disgusting. Was like frozen fish they had fried. Rotten. Chips were terrible too. Kids meal fried pizza was brick hard. Very over priced chippy too. Wouldnt go back if you paid me. Avoid!!!

Such a brilliant place for super fresh food, the fish is totally the best in the borders, such a big selection from fish & chips to burgers in buns, the chips are a delight they also cater for adults with small appetites to children with their mini supper menu, all of this plus a selection of water to cola, pickled eggs & onions, all served with a smile on the faces of the staff, I will only use this chippie as they deliver with speed to your door so your food is piping hot when it arrives, love Jim Jack's & All Their Staff...

Good price and value . Very good , lovely bit of fish lots of flavour. Only slight downside the battered sausage quite greasy but what did I expect Would definitely visit again

Jim Jack's Fish and Chips is our preferred chip shop in Peebles. It is take-out only. We usually call in our order and it is ready to pick up when we get there. I believe they can also deliver but I haven't used that service.

After Jim Jack's was recommended by a colleague today made the drive over. Boy it was worth it. Clean and low key settings, fabulous all female staff during our visit. Facilities excellent. Best fish and chips Ever.

We had a fish supper and a steak pie with chips, and it was really great. All the food was fresh, hot and crisp, and the staff really lovely and great chat. They were also super generous with the ketchup. Highly recommend.
