Best place for takeaway in Dumfries.

Super delicious food that will leave you more than full. Regular pita was almost too much for us. Very nice staff who prepare the food really well. Unfortunately there aren't many seats available. Price performance super good!

Ordered a takeaway whilst visiting Dumfries for a few days. We had passed Yamas on our last visit in July and decided to go give it a try, especially as we enjoy our greek takeaways from home. The menu in the store is not that easy to follow as prices are for small portions and does not state this (we were asked if we wanted small, medium or large but nothing displayed showed the prices for this). Having not been been before, we chose to order a medium mixed pita club gyros, a medium chicken pita club gyros, a large mixed gyros wrap and a portion of chicken gyros and chips (this for a family of four). It ended up being way too much food and we ended up wasting quite a bit. It was also very pricey compared to our normal place, with the four items coming to over £50. However, the food was absolutely beautiful and we enjoyed everything we ordered. Next time around, we will make sure we order less food, but will definitely give it another try.

Discovering Yamas Deli is like reliving your first love in your school years. As soon as you have a bite, you are hooked forever and you will find yourself reminiscing on some Yamas Deli nostalgia whilst sipping a pint on a sunny afternoon, wishing you were living those moments again. I've ordered from this place more than 50 times in the last 8 months, I am not joking, I've tried every single item in the menu really and there is nothing to go wrong on, this place has it all, its a perfect 10, the ferrari/supermodel of takeaways: - Cheap affordable prices; - Big and some MASSIVE portions even on the cheaper items; - Everything tastes FRESH and AUTHENTIC; - They never refuse a reasonable request, chilli sauce or replacing the bread with extra meat, NO PROBLEM FOR YAMAS! - The service is insanely consistent, you know you are getting gold every time you order. I heavily recommend any of the salads, featuring fresh kalamata olives and dressings OR the Lamb Box, with a delightful combination of salad, juicy lamb meat and fresh chips/bread. If Yamas Deli was a woman, I'd ask her to marry me right now.

This is honestly the best gyros I've had in the UK! We've tried most of the options available and they are all amazing! There's a generous amount of meat or halloumi in each gyros and the tzatziki is so thick and creamy and we always ask for extra, it's got a really nice kick to it with the right amount of garlic! I love that they stock Loux drinks and Motion juice which are drinks I've had on holiday in Greece as a child. I highly recommend coming here! Whenever we're in the area we order from here and it's always great quality and tastes amazing.

Spotted this place when we were in Dumfries on Saturday afternoon. Staff were lovely, told us food would be about 15 minutes, so we could take a wee walk and come back. Absolutely worth the wait. The food was fantastic. We both got boxed meals, one with lamb, one with halloumi. They brought the food outside to us when it was ready (we had a dog). Really great food!

We came across Yamas Deli purely by accident, looking for some healthy/ quick dinner on a Friday night, having just arrived for a weeks holiday in SW Scotland & what an absolute treat! We placed an order for a chicken and a halloumi gyros and waited for about 10 minutes before tucking into delicious, freshly made gyros, made with chips, salad and tzatziki wrapped up into a gorgeous warmed flatbread. We sat and ate our food at the counter and chatted with Nick the founder, whose passion about the importance of cooking from fresh and sourcing greek ingredients where possible was really inspiring. Fantastic to support a young entrepreneur building a great business in Dumfries. Nick, the 2 x liverpool supporting ladies from Manchester will definitely be back before the week is out !

Top food and top service. We arrived late and they still looked after us and let us eat in side. Ordered the chicken hercules gyros 10.95 but it was large and worth the money!

I recently visited Yamas deli with my son. We weren’t sure what some of the items were, so we asked the gentleman working. He explained what each item was and what they came with. I decided on picking a small mixed gyros with salad which was delicious! You can tell they use great quality products. My son chose a pita club gyros which is huge, you could definitely share this with someone. I would highly recommend as not only is the food freshly prepared using great quality products, it is also very fairly priced.

I am a friend of a child who often orders from you and he has the best things to say about the store, from the food being amazing (juicy meat, perfect combos with sauce etc.), and having very good service. I am from Serres and I thank the owner that there is such a creation in Dumfries.

The gyros is excellent. Just as good as those in Greece even if a little more expensive. The owner is friendly and always very helpful. Highly recommend.

Been here a few times since moving to Dumfries. Food is always 10/10. Sometimes a small wait, but always worth it. I’d recommend the Pork Gyros with added Halloumi.

I came in with my dad few days ago and asked for a mini meze which wasn't exactly on the menu but Nick the owner was more than happy to cater for us and made us an amazing arrangement of meat, dips, olives etc. We were genuinely blown away by the quality of the food and how friendly Nick was to us. I can't wait to go back. I highly recommend it.

Spectacular. Warning… the large is LARGE and a bit of a mish! Lovely guys serving behind the counter. Nice and clean with a small easy to choose from menu! Highly recommend.

Tried it for the first time, bought a chicken Gyros(small), nice sauce,very little chicken and the chips were not cooked properly, disappointing after hearing good things about it.

First time visit, first time taste, as soon as walking into the deli the man behind the counter was welcoming and humble gave me time to decide what to have. Ended up with 3 chicken gyros which were amazing. Very much will visit again.

Ordered a chicken and a mixed gyros, ended up doing it via ubereats the restaurant delivered it, it was still hot and fresh. Just ordered the standard sizes and felt content, there was countless bits of meat in it and only about 10 chips, if that. Some raw onions and tomatoes to finish it off. Very tasty, nicely seasoned, certainly don't feel ripped off, maybe things have improved since previous reviews? Would order again in a heartbeat

Having travelled regularly to Greece for over 20 years, and in particular to Crete since 2007, we love our Greek 🇬🇷 street food. However, today was the first that we had sampled food from Yamas Deli. In the past we had feared that it wouldn't live up to expectations so had shied away. As it was such a lovely, warm, spring day in Dumfries today, we headed down Bank Street from the Makers' Market, to order 2 medium mixed pita gyros (chicken and pork). Great portion size, beautifully prepared and cooked with all the authentic ingredients and flavours that we have grown to love. It was such a nice day that we sat at a table outside the takeaway to enjoy our lunch. Not quite as cheap as our usual lunchtime spots in Crete (under 3 euros) but still a treat we thoroughly enjoyed 😋 - and cheaper than a flight to Chania 🙃

The tzatziki dip is good and the chicken is marinated nicely👌 I’d recommend the naked gyros if your new to the cuisine.

Sorry to say very disappointed went in and was informed that the kebabs are small medium and large, we were very hungry so decided for a large at a cost of over £10 each , expecting it to be busting with Gyros, got home and was knocked out to see it was full of chips and salad with some chicken gyros that didn’t taste anything wah 😩 so gutted would not recommend and will definitely not return, rip off is the best way to describe.

Needed something to eat before the train home. The staff recommended the mixed gyros which were cooked well within time which enabled me to get my train home and enjoy their mixed gyros

Yamas is great; I’ve been eating there for a while now. Food is always made quickly and to a high standard. The staff are very friendly and always helpful. Overall it’s a great place to eat. Keep it up !

I called at this gem, on the way home from an occasion in the center, with my two year old and my partner. We were welcomed like old Friends, conversation flowed and my baby was included and fussed over, we even learned a little Greek while we were there. The food, well what can I say? The food was divine, the portion size was perfect and the flavours were exquisite. Thank you, Yamas.

Having a short break in Dumfries and fancied a Greek takeaway. We ordered chicken Chicken slovaki Pita club Gyros from Yamas Deli. They were cooked fresh to order, piping hot and it tasted great. Great tasting food and miles better than fish and chips. It was also good value for money. Definitely worth a visit or a delivery. Will return 👍
