We drove down to The Mull of Galloway for 3 reasons, to walk the dog, to visit the lighthouse and to have lunch in the Gallie Craig. Well as the song goes - two out of three ain't bad! The cafe/restaurant is not dog friendly, and I was not prepared to leave the dog in our vehicle on a sunny day. Very disappointing, but their business, their rules. However it's my money and my choice where I spend it, so we moved on. It is not sufficient in my opinion to only allow dogs onto the outside terrace. This is Scotland and the weather can be brutal - even though it was a sunny day, it was far too windy to sit outside.

Lovely coffee shop close to the historic Mull of Galloway lighthouse - a nice day trip if you combine the two. We were staying at the lighthouse and I found the staff at Gallie Craig really nice and friendly - my daughter loves ice cream and they sold me some I could take away for her. The menu is good too. The only downside for us really is that dogs are not allowed inside (except service dogs). I do understand that people who are not dog owners don't always want to be alongside them, and it's probably right therefore that not every eatery allows dogs. However, this is the only cafe for literally miles around so it's unfortunate that it doesn't cater for dogs. You are allowed to use the outside seating area but in most weather conditions that is really not comfortable. We went in August but it was still so windy that I dared not try to drink anything out there for fear of it being blown over. I think this problem could be solved if a seating area with a bit more protection from the elements could be provided for dog owners. Judging by the number of dogs I saw in the area, this would soon pay for itself! Anyway, moan over, this was otherwise a super place.

Top restaurant with a brilliant view, great offerings and the best scone I've had so far. Price performance is right here! We have been traveling in Scotland for 6 weeks and I have had the best scone ever here. The restaurant has a large selection of dishes. Our coffee and hot chocolate were great. There is also a small shop with souvenirs. Toilets are extremely clean, children's chairs, changing tables are available and everything is designed to be handicapped accessible. Absolute recommendation to stop here. Parking spaces are free.

Scotlands southernmost Coffee House doesn't disapoint, with great service and iconic scenery what more can you ask for. I stopped here for lunch during a road trip and thoroughly enjoyed the coffee and Club Sandwich I had. I'd really recommend the food, it prepared and presented well. The service was excellent with the staff and I exchanging a small joke about my coffee order... black coffee with butterscotch syrup (when in Rome right). I have marked the atmosphere down one star simply cause I'd prefer if it was dog friendly, given that the growns of the light house are and its a bit inconvenient. However I appreciate that it's there perogative and that this is simply my little thought. Over all a fantastic place to stop and refuel.

NOT dog friendly. The terrace is lovely and there are great views; however, this is Scotland, and the weather can be brutal. After a walk you can find yourself unable to stop and have a drink to warm up because it’s impossible to sit out. The cafe itself is fairly large and lends itself to being split into two areas. One dog friendly and the other not. Today there are at least six dog owners who would simply have turned around and left without using the cafe. Four stars due to the lack of these facilities.

This was our second visit. Our first visit was a better experience even though I had to send back my starter because my toast was burnt. This visit was very disappointing. The starters were fine, thus 2 stars, but the mains were dreadful. I had the Thai green chicken curry and my wife the prawns, gnocchi and chorizo. My dish was bland with poor quality chicken breast (which is the worst part of the chicken), but my wife's dish was truly inedible. The chorizo was burnt, the squash undercooked and the gnocchi tasteless lumps of concrete. We absolutely would have sent them back but were on a tight schedule and had very limited time. I must question the consistency of the restaurants quality. I am not sure if we will come back to give them another try or not...
