Fantastic second stay with a spotless room and a snack tray that could feed you for a week - very generous and room was cosy & relaxing! Mike the host clearly understands hospitality! Will definitely return as I love peebles

We stayed at this hotel in March 2025. We were disappointed with the Signature room. The bathroom was far too small to get in the shower easily. The sheets were not changed in our 5 night stay. It stated 24 hour reception on the website. This is not the case. It's closed from 10pm until 8am. Very average. We will not stay again on our annual visit to Peebles to visit family.

Very pleasant lounge, open fire lovely and warm. Was meeting a friend for coffee and a scone, asked for a cheese scone, they don't do cheese ones only plain or sultana. Scone arrived, mediocre jam and butter, lovely dollop of clotted cream. Scone was so crisp it disintegrated making it very difficult and messy to eat, they obviously have no idea what a scone is - soft spongy & light (the local baker make very good ones if they want to find out). My friend was paying, so didn't feel it polite to her, to complain. It was quite expensive and if I order a scone, I don't want a crumby rock bun. Small detail, but an indication of overall standards

We called in here on our last visit to Peebles. A dog friendly cafeteria, it has indoor and outdoor seating and is accessed via an alleyway from the Main Street. I’ve not had a vegan scone for ages and this one was lovely, very tasty. The coffee is delicious too and the dog enjoyed her sausage. A regular spot now on our trips to Peebles.

I just hope it was a bad day. About two in the afternoon and the café fairly busy. Most tables covered last person's food although self-service trays hinted that people could clear away their own staff. Seem to be plenty of staff but going around in a daze. Not a long queue but it still took 20 minutes to order a sandwich and bit of quiche and another 10 minutes for it to come. Quiche okay but sandwich, ham and cheese, very poor quality. Very disappointing. Someone needs to get a grip. Such a pity when the botanic gardens are so magnificent and beautifully.

Had just the best experience at the Toll House cafe. Really nice food - very tasty leek and potato soup, and a cheese toastie that doesn't scrimp on the cheese and melted perfectly. Plus the owner is very friendly and made the place so welcoming. I was staying at a nearby house catsitting for the weekend and the house's boiler had broken, making me reliant on making a real fire. The owner, Julie, very kindly gave me some firelighters and gave me some other 'real fire' tips (they have a lovely one going in the cafe). Can't recommend it enough, both for the food and the lovely owner. I couldn't get back to report my fire-making success, but I did manage thanks to Julie! Great place.
