Lovely lunch today 2 roast beef dinners a beef pie and a chicken burger. Couldn’t fault it in the least. Very nice portions with good quality beef. Really tasty. Yes I agree the gravy was a little thin but it was very nice. Rather that than thick gravy thickened with too much flour. The chips were nice and veg was well cooked. The only downside was we were the only family eating a that particular time 12.30 Sunday. So come on residents of Westlinton keep your local restaurant open lots a lovely wee village kee some life in it. Keep up the good work.

I should start by making the point that I've been working in restaurants and bars for the entirety of my adult life, and I normally wouldn't leave a bad review as a rule - I know from experience that people are generally trying their hardest, and mistakes are made. The difference here is that the issues weren't that of an 'off day', but of an inherent and systemic set of problems. My family and I went in for father's day, myself on crutches with a broken ankle. We were sat at the closest table to the exit, meaning that there were constantly people going past over a loose floorboard which tipped the two aisle seats constantly. There was also a massive group taking up the back half of the restaurant, made up of a few dozen 10 or 11 year olds sat alone while their parents were in another room. That, of course, isn't the restaurant's fault but getting in touch to say 'by the way, we'll be serving about 50 people at the same time as you - would you like to change the time?' is the sort of thing that you put your phone number and email on during the booking process. As a result, we were waiting for an hour and twenty for our main courses. Again, that happens, but there was no communication from the waiting staff whatsoever to let us know how long the wait would be, check if we needed anything while we were waiting or an apology. My dad ordered a bottle of beer which has clearly never seen the inside of a fridge. The manager(?) attempted to make a joke about it, only after we'd asked for a replacement or some ice meaning that he had quite happily sent out the drink knowing it was warm. We started with a bowl of soup for myself and a flatbread for the rest of the table, for which I had to ask for sideplates, as opposed to eating them from the centre of the table. When the mains finally arrived (three Sunday roasts and a pizza) the table agreed that the portions and make-up of the roasts were awful. The beef and gravy were fine (just fine), but the portion of carrots and potatoes were miniscule and the Yorkshire pudding had the consistency of a victoria sponge and had never seen gravy. Moreover, about a third of the plate was completely empty - usually there'd be some veg in that space. This came to £18 per plate of beef. As noted above, I'm walking on crutches and was using them when seated and still took a kick to the moon boot from two different staff members. Again, accidents happen, but there was no apology, which I was baffled by. When our mains were served, I asked for a bottle of coke which didn't arrive until I had finished my meal. I also had to remind the manager to bring me a glass and ice twice. The staff were clearly without training, walking up to the table and announcing the name of the thing they were carrying without any sort of actual service. I can't stress enough how poor an experience I need to have for me to leave a bad review. As I mentioned, I'm a professional waiter myself, and the rest of the family have extensive hospitality experience too. I honestly expected Ant and Dec to jump out and tell us it was a prank. We paid and left. No one asked us if we enjoyed our meal and no one wished us well, I suspect because they knew how poor a service it was. An utterly abysmal lunch from a restaurant who is very, very lucky to be the only show in town. And there's no hot tap in the men's bathroom, which is just mental.

The Pyet hosted a birthday party for me on a Friday night. There were circa. 40 of us and we had buffet food (chilli, veggie chilli, nachos etc) and cheese board for after. Jordan organised a microphone that we used for a quiz and then we did some dancing to 90s and 00s pop music with Jordan on the decks. We were there 7pm-12.30pm. We all had a fantastic time. The staff did an amazing job of making sure everyone had the food and drink they needed. It was fantastic value. A true credit to West Linton. Not just a place to go for food and drink - host your private event there and you won't regret it!

Friendly helpful staff, food was average. I was taken by the king prawn linguine but it came with four small prawns. Husbands pizza was quite doughy and not fully cooked through.

Visited while staying at a cottage in West Linton for a Family holiday and could not have been more impressed with the food and service offered here. It looks so small from the outside but inside is a beautiful large dining room where they provide a relaxed atmosphere. The food was stunning, we had Scottish Nachos to share as a starter and they MUST be tried, delicious. Two gorgeous home made steak and haggis pies with just the best triple cooked chips, a Pizza with a fantastic stuffed crust that my eldest said was the best he’s ever had and a juicy steak burger with pulled pork that was so big I didn’t think my youngest would finish…..but he did. So full we could only share a pudding, Wispa Gold Cheesecake…..YUM. Great food at an excellent price with welcoming and friendly service, if it wasn’t 300 miles away we’d be here every month for sure. If we are anywhere near again we will be sure to visit.

The wife and I visited the Pyet restaurant (formerly the Old Bakehouse) in West Linton last night. It was brilliant. What a terrific hidden gem of a place. The food was simply amazing and it was the attention to detail and excellent service (thanks Pauline) that really made the difference. The chef Jordan came out and chatted which was very nice. This is a highly recommended family-run business set in cosy and intimate environment. We left very satisfied and well fed!

Visited last weekend for a birthday meal. The restaurant is stylish and comfortable, with relaxed surroundings and really friendly service. Most importantly, the food was amazing - super fresh and tasty starters (the bruschetta and haggis balls were excellent) and the pizzas and burger mains all cooked to perfection. Menu offered plenty of choice and I’m already planning a return visit so I can sample more! Fantastic experience all round, thank you.

by far the best Pizza place in the borders once you leave Edinburgh heading to England ... the dough is really well made nice notes of sourness with no heavy stoggy feeling , its been always light , well cooked , clearly the heat is maintained well for the quick fire cook. One of my favourites is the peperoni with jamaican chicken , it does fill the gaps of pepperoni with chicken and spices keeping you guessing all the time. We have also enjoyed the burgers , the sliders and the sides very filling. what tops all is the cocktail bar in the back, the best seat is on the bar if you can grab it get it ... you may have to slow down on the cocktails ... every bit thoroughly enjoyable

This tiny shop is stocked with way more things than you would think it had room for. The carry out sandwiches we had there were very good. And the number of items for sale was impressive. There is ot room for eating in the shop, so find an outdoor bench on the green, or take it home to eat.

Had some soup for here twice before on the passing at lunch time which has been good homemade quality.sometimes a long wait if there are people in front ordering a banquet for lunch. Service is one customer at a time. Stopped by recently and ordered a burger, was very disappointed and never ate it. Resembled a microwaveable burger.

This popular sandwich takeaway Deli offers a great selection of hot or cold in delicious rolls made to order to take away. Obviously popular with staff in local businesses and regular travellers passing through the village by car van and bicycle. This has become a regular stopping point to pick up our lunch on a Saturday. The deli offers a variety of quality produce that we enjoy sampling.

It's been a year since I first reviewed the Pyet Deli so I thought I'd refresh. Since taking the deli over, the new owner has constantly improved the quality and range of the fare on sale and recently as started his own home baking. Fabulousness in the form of a fruit scone. If you're passing , pop in but be quick as the best stuff sells out fast.

Go here now before everyone else figures out what amazing value this place is! The drive through the Scottish countryside is stunning (a half-hour drive from the railway stop at Galashiels). The owners have created something special that I simultaneously want to keep to myself and share with the world. Oxana's hosting (and baking and wine-pairing) skills mean you are welcomed with friendly service, clear explanations of the wine pairings and amazing, sweet treats. We have been twice - once in September and once in November - and from beginning to end, our glasses were never empty, and we were treated to amazing service. Now, the food is really something to talk about. Bryn is doing something special here. The food is fresh and innovative while remaining down to earth and approachable. A simple parsnip soup sent our table to heaven with its perfect spice. We had pork belly with the crunchiest crackling and lentils with vegetables that were flavoured so beautifully I couldn't tell what was in them. Blue cheese with truffled honey had all of us begging for more. Every bite is a delight, and some of it was items I wouldn't normally order. This food, this place, is truly something special, reflecting our Borders community and some of the best food in Scotland. Go now!

Stopped in for some lunch today. Friendly service with a good and varied choice of menu. Offers half portions of meals if more suitable. Brilliant value. Hot and cold options available. Felt like the teapot was bottomless, think it was 3 cupfuls in total!

Wonderful food and so nicely presented and the young man serving was so polite and professional. Only negative was the disappointing vegetarian options for my sister. Macaroni cheese is more suited to a cafe menu. But a lovely evening none the less.

Got to say, I’ve never had a bad meal or experience in here. The ham hock and lentil soup as amazing, the steak and mushroom pie was outstanding. It was packed with lean steak in a lush, beefy broth type gravy. Great fies, a la dente peas and everything was piping hot and cooked to order. Even the plates were warm, which I always appreciate. The staff were great and the owner is a real friendly guy. If yer heading North or South on the A68, make sure this is yer pit stop, even for a coffee and cake. Made me smile today whilst I was eating, it was that good. It looks like a greasy spoon if you pass it on the road, but it’s not! It’s on a par with very good pub grub, and it’s really clean inside, as is the kitchen which I passed on the way to use the bathroom.
