A set price of £43 (plus a 10% service charge) gets you a nice 3 course meal. That works out at £9 for a starter, £9 for dessert and £25 for fish & chips (with peas). £7 will get you a pint of ale at the bar or £7.70 if you order from your table. £29 (plus 10%) will get you the cheapest bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. We’ve eaten here a few times over the past 4 years simply due to there being no competition for miles around. It’s always been decent but overpriced. We ate on a Friday evening and despite being told it was probably going to be busy, only 7 tables out of the available 17 were occupied. The staff were friendly and pretty efficient. Would we go again? Probably, because there’s nowhere else locally. The location and view are excellent, if you go during daylight. At night you won’t be getting any sort of view whatsoever! I know they took some flak in the press for their prices a couple of years ago and reduced them slightly. I’d love to give the place 5 stars and wish them the best but it’s simply too expensive for what it is. Wouldn’t like to see it closed down and derelict though.

Stopped in for lunch without a booking and got seated no problem. The views are stunning, service was welcoming and friendly and the food was top notch. Presented nicely and tasted lovely. Scoffed the lot before we could take photos! Highly recommend

expected good food at fair prices, waited all most 1 hour after booking shocked fish & chips were very poor, so bad we complained bitterly and finally got full refund our other meals were Gammon so hard ~I just managed to eat half of it , the last was a Haggis Burger totally tasteless and very poor quality a total waste of money, we all left hungry

This is a magic wee place. Excellent cake and coffee in a pretty garden setting, with friendly and relaxed service and a cat that was keen to try for a sample of my cappucino (denied). In the shop, a good array of small gifts and really lovely handmade candles and skincare. I bought candles and body lotion. While I fully appreciate that folk need days off, I was disappointed to only be able to visit over the course of my visit as closed Friday and Saturday. I'd have definitely popped in again and made a few more purchases if I could have.

After a long journey this little stop was exactly what was needed. So quaint and met all our needs. I had the best egg Mayo roll ever. My friends enjoyed the ham and cheese toastie and tuna Mayo rolls. They also served one of the best espressos I’ve had. Definitely pleasantly surprised. Would come again.

We know the Tongue area very well, and like to eat locally, so it was obvious we would decide to eat at the Craggan, and i'm happy we did! The restaurant area is welcoming and clean, staff friendly, and the car park was easy even with a big van. The only problem was choosing from the menu! So many tasty things - i wish we had more time to visit again.. All three of us enjoyed our food, and we shared everything so i know it was all delicious. Thank you for making a rather wet evening so special..

Fantastic hotel with such a warm welcome from the owners. Rooms exceptional and the meals superb. We felt like guests in their home and will certainly return again for more than one night. Amazing to hear the deer rutting on the hills and owls hooting from our bedroom. Highly recommend this hotel to others, nice to hear about wild swimming and possible option to kayak next year. Many thanks for a wonderful stay.

Dined at Achness on a couple of nights whilst staying in the area, an older hotel that has seen finer days but operated by a family who clearly aim to deliver good local produce with first class service. Menu was small but every dish was really well cooked, broccoli & Stilton soup, steak pie, chicken curry and steaks were worthy of highlight. Delivering a quality service in a rural area must be really challenging but Achness do this really well and really worth a detour if you are in the area. Of special note was Veronica who ran the bar, served the tables and generally looked after everything front of house. She is a young lady with a great personality and a real future in hospitality. Thanks guys, hopefully return soon .

Despite cappuccino being served in latte cups it was good. The wraps we ordered were virtually inedible. Wrap was doughy and raw. Tuna mayo was dolloped without a care in the world. ‘Salad’ consisted of brown cress. Then we had to ask for cutlery and napkins. Oh and the crisps were soft. There’s no excuse for not being able to serve up and appetising snack. My recommendation: take sandwiches and a flask and enjoy the wonderful beach.
