This was such a great stay on the NC500. The guys who run it are incredibly friendly and attentive. We had a twin room as that’s all that was available and although would’ve loved a double, it didn’t matter. We slept really well as beds were comfy and bathroom is modern. There is a cute little lounge that overlooks the beach, great for a game of cards. This was the best breakfast experience we had on the whole trip. We were lucky enough yo get a seat right next to the window which offered amazing views over the beach and the food was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend!

We stopped here for dinner on the NC500. The view was unreal looking out the bay window. We were the only couple in the restaurant at 6pm so it was quiet and not that cosy. I assume this place will be very busy in the summer months. I had the scallops to start which were good but a little bit chewy at bits which was a bit disappointing but the main course made up for it. I had the scampi and chips (traditional pub food) and the chips were amazing! Not sure what they were coated in or how they were cooked but they were the best chips I've had in a long time. My partner had the steak pie and unfortunately it was little bit overcooked and dry. The gin and tonics were lovely and the view made up for any food issues. Overall it is a lovely place to stop.

We stayed at Bettyhill as part of our NC 500 trip. The location is fantastic with a beautiful view of the bay. The hotel is quite Scottish in its feel which is a positive and staff were all very pleasant and accommodating. Our room was well equipped, comfortable and recently refurbished. Breakfast was very good and sets you up for the day ahead. We would recommend this hotel.

Ate here last night , the Scallops starter was simply Divine, served in a shell and cooked to perfection, Delicious. The Highland Chicken was also cooked to perfection and very tasty , the Veg accompanying the meal was perfectly cooked , again Delicious. Desert of Sticky Toffee pudding was my wife's choice and she said it was Very Good , I went for the Crème Brulé and it was simply to Die For , Delicious. The service was 1st Class and we also had a stunning view from the restaurant window, all in all a FANTASTIC night, thank you to all involved 👍🏻

We have a very enjoyable meal here. The service is quick and the staff are very friendly. The food was delicious and well presented. We thought it was a bit pricy (£15 for a burger) but it is a captive market and you certainly couldn’t fault it. After having some hellish hospitality experiences in Scotland, this place was just a real treat. From the phone call (to book) right up until we left, we were made to feel welcome & appreciated. We visited here due to a locals recommendation. The views were superb and the atmosphere lovely. Unfortunately, I ordered the lamb shank that was around 50% fat/gristle, I did point this out to the waiter, but this wasn't acknowledged. Whilst I wasn't expecting any money off, when you pay this amount for a meal, and it is substandard I felt an apology would have been the least that should have been offered.

There's a smart restaurant as well as a less formal bar also serving food; both residents and non-residents could choose to eat in either. During a recent visit to Bettyhill my partner and I ate in the Bettyhill hotel. At first it appeared closed and we had to search for someone to find out if the dining room was open. We were met initially by a waitress who appeared disinterested, then met another waitress who appeared a bit out of her depth but were eventually directed to the dining room, which was empty. I had lasagne and my partner tagliatelle. What can I say, the lasagne was like rubber and not fresh and pretty tasteless. The chips were frozen and dry. The tagliatelle had such an overpowering taste and smell of garlic my partner could not finish it. The worst meal I've had in ages. On the up side, the dining room was clean and our waitress very pleasant. My partner did not want to complain which was unfortunate as I felt these people should have told how awful their food is. Also, their prices would suggest something a little better. We foolishly ignored advice suggesting we go elsewhere. Never again.

Staying locally we had been assured that meals here were lovely with the lamb shanks "to die for!". The atmosphere in the bar was cheerful. We were advised the restaurant was "fully booked" but they would fit us in. We were shown to the dining room and given a seat by the window, the view is spectacular! Our orders were taken promptly but the waitress was unable to assist with ordering a drink unless it was wine - no problem, just went to the bar and ordered a drink there myself! I ordered the famous lamb shank, my partner ordered a steak. The meals were very well presented. The steak was nicely cooked and very enjoyable. The lamb shank was bordering on inedible - tough, dry, hard and not very much gravy. I had to use my partners steak knife to remove the meat. What meat I ate was not pleasurable. The vegetables were nice, what gravy there was was ok. The owner asked about meal in front bar and when told about shank said he would speak with the chef - no compensation was offered. Decided to try the sticky date pudding, this was delicious! So at least the meal ended on a high note! As we left we heard a number of people complaining of the slow service. Service was slow, but waiter and waitress were doing their best to be helpful.

Stunning outlook over both bays from restaurant, varied menu catering for all tastes served hot/cold as required. For the evening meal with a starter and main course I challenge anyone to sample the sweet menu, ample time to digest each course without rushing. The quality full breakfast sets you up for a days travel, the only effort required is doing your own toast and serial selection. (good idea toasting own bread, removes the effort of complying with everyone's choice of bread and level of browning). Service and attention to detail outstanding, which didn't change throughout a quality stay.

When asked if we were staying at the hotel and we responded no we were shown to a separate room from the dining room. It then took over two hours to get our dinner served to us. When we raised this with the manager we were met with a series poor excuses and never even an apology, no less any compensation (not that we were looking for any but if ever a meal should have been comped this was it). The food was quite good and the servers wonderful--but the hotel's policy of serving all their hotel guests first is downright maddening and the manager doesn't understand the first thing about customer satisfaction. Our friends are twenty year Bettyhill regulars--and none of us will ever return. A huge disappointment.

We've eaten at this restaurant for many years and have seen the place go through a helter-skelter ride of quality of food and surroundings in that time - it has changed hands several times! Finally it looks like someone has taken over who knows what he is doing and is determined to make it work. The big selling point of the restaurant is the amazing view across Torrisdale Bay, and that's always there; so even though the restaurant menu was suspended and they were serving "only" the bar menu in the restaurant, we still booked in. What a change to the place - after years of the whole hotel looking run-down and sorry for itself, it's been refurbished tastefully. They're still at it (there was a great deal to do) but the public rooms are now lovely. The meal itself, despite being billed as "only" the bar menu could easily have been put forward as a full restaurant offer. It was imaginative, beautifully cooked and very well presented. The service is excellent with just the right level of attention. We had an excellent haggis and clapshot starter with a whisky based sauce and the haddock & chips main for me while my wife had the chef's special of fresh mackerel with a lovely creamy sauce. The chef, although new to the restaurant, is making a really good impression on the place - we think we'll hear more about him (remember 'John from Bettyhill'). The wine list, too, is well thought out and very sensibly priced. All in all a very, very pleasant surprse and a really fantastic evening. The place in a long way to go from just about anywhere, but worth every mile. We'll be back again.

My wife and I took a trip around the Bettyhill area this week hoping to have lunch at the Bettyhill Hotel then to visit the spectacular beach as it was such a loverly hot day. We got to the Hotel at 1pm and as we walked up to the bar saw a chalk board saying lunch was from 12 to 3. Having visited in January and finding the place closed we thought we were in luck this time but the door was locked. As we were leaving a young man appeared and when we asked he said the bar would open at 5pm. This is July, the height of the tourist season, a lovely hot, sunny day and they were closed!! What does this say about the way Scottish businesses treat tourists? What a thoroughly disappointing way to spoil our plans for a leaisurely lunch as we ended up in a dingy overpriced cafe instead.

This was a lovely experience, the food was not ' swimming in grease' as i saw from another review, but it was great to see that the more recent reviews have been validated. We went here for my birthday at the end of october and honestly everything was really lovely . the service was great they were so friendly from the getgo, the charcuterie board we had for starter was very filling and diverse just wish they would have told us what the cheeses were ( i think the brie was from tain though it was familair) but thats a minor niggle that we had no info. the main courses were fab the skin on chips were AMAZING , and its a dog friendly place which we loved , we dont have dogs but we did get to pet some which made our day !

We know the Tongue area very well, and like to eat locally, so it was obvious we would decide to eat at the Craggan, and i'm happy we did! The restaurant area is welcoming and clean, staff friendly, and the car park was easy even with a big van. The only problem was choosing from the menu! So many tasty things - i wish we had more time to visit again.. All three of us enjoyed our food, and we shared everything so i know it was all delicious. Thank you for making a rather wet evening so special..

I recently had the pleasure of spending a delightful day at Dores Inn, and I still find myself reminiscing about the experience six months later. Nestled along the shores of the iconic Loch Ness, this charming inn offers a perfect blend of stunning views, a warm atmosphere, and exceptional service. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a lovely ambiance that sets the tone for a relaxing visit. The inn has ample seating, both indoors and outdoors, making it easy to find a cozy spot to enjoy the picturesque scenery. We opted for an outside table, and it turned out to be the best decision of the day. The views of the loch were absolutely breathtaking, providing a serene backdrop for our meal. Speaking of the meal, I must rave about the food—simply sublime! I usually find coleslaw unappealing, but Dores Inn's homemade version was a game changer. It was fresh, flavorful, and complemented our dishes beautifully. Every bite was a testament to the culinary care that goes into their offerings. After our satisfying meal, we joined a Rib-Boat journey on the loch, which was an exhilarating way to experience the surroundings. The thrill of speeding across the water, combined with the breathtaking views of the loch and its mythical charm, made for an unforgettable adventure. As a memento of our day, I couldn't resist purchasing one of their handmade crochet teddies of Nessie. It's now a cherished keepsake that brings back fond memories of our visit. To wrap up our day, we took a leisurely walk along the shoreline. The tranquility of the loch, coupled with the stunning natural beauty surrounding us, was the perfect ending to a fantastic day. Overall, Dores Inn exceeded my expectations in every way. From the lovely atmosphere and great views to the delectable food and friendly service, it’s a place I highly recommend. If you're looking for an exceptional day out near Loch Ness, don’t miss the opportunity to visit this gem. I still think about that wonderful day, and I can’t wait to return!
