Popped in here today with our dog. Initially we couldn’t get a table but came back 10 minutes later. It was worth the wait ! Service was fantastic. The waitresses were so friendly and helpful and offered our dog a bowl of water and treats. Food was amazing. Lovely selection of ciabattas and wonderful cakes. We opted for the pulled pork ciabatta with salad and the goats cheese and beetroot ciabatta with cauliflower soup. The coffee and hot chocolate were fabulous not to mention the peach cake. All freshly made and absolutely delicious. Also overheard one of the waitresses helping out with a family who had food allergies and who wanted to have something specific that wasnt on the menu. The waitress took it all in her stride and it didn’t seem to be any bother at all. Well Done all the staff involved in this gem of a place !! Would definitely recommend stopping here. It’s a bit out of the way and at the rear of the ‘craft village’ but Don’t drive past. You won’t be disappointed

Four friends were visiting the Craft Village whilst travelling the NC500 and decided to pop in here for a bite to eat and something to drink. The place is immaculate with lovely staff, but prices are way above what we consider they should be charging for what’s on offer. That said, we still had some nice refreshments, but all agreed that wouldn’t visit again if we were in the area due to these inflated prices.

If it is wet and raining then this is the place to be. I have a great bowl of warming soup with gluten free bread and it was what I needed to face the rain on the next leg of the NC500. My husband had a lovely pork ciabatta roll and the coffee was good too. We took a piece of the chocolate brownie for the next leg of the journey... yum Highly recommend if you are in the area

I had Sea Bass which was beautifully presented, served with asparagus and crushed potatoes and cooked to perfection. For pudding I had their home made Tiramisu which was quite possibly the best tiramisu I've ever tasted, again beautifully presented in a heart shaped pottery dish. The atmosphere was relaxed ,the staff were lovely and care was obviously being taken to abide by the Covid guidelines. It's a bit tricky to find in the dark but if you follow the road round either way, you will find it.There was water set out on the table and you can take your choice of alcoholic beverage if you wish.I definitely hope to return one day.

We had dinner here at the recommendation of our hotel whilst doing NC500. They had limited capacity due to covid19 restrictions and had to turn people away (on a Wed) so we would definitely recommend booking. We note efforts such as hand sanitiser, spacing out arriving guests (time wise and space wise), contacts etc. Food: Tasty homestyle cooking. We had venison and sea bass (fish of the day) as mains, both were delicious and portions were generous. Sea bass tasted very fresh! Venison sauce could have been warmer but that's picking bones. We finished with cheesecake and tiramisu which we thoroughly enjoyed. Coffee and liquor flavour could be stronger for tiramisu perhaps.Service: prompt and polite, could see no fault!Overall: unpretentious little restaurant serving tasty food, would recommend for dinner

Found ourselves hungry and without a lunch plan so ended up here. Service was ok if a little haphazard. We ordered from the very limited sandwich menu. For £7 per ciabatta sandwich you really would expect more. They were tasty but small for the price. No kids menu, very little variety.Worryingly no one took our contact details for track and trace and Covid measures seemed sparse and haphazard. There was a gentleman who came in and sat at the counter having a coffee right by the servers and breathing over an uncovered tray of croissants. Yuk. Wished we'd gone elsewhere.

Very friendly staff but the food was such a let down. We ordered lentil soup and a turkey ciabatta with cranberry and Brie. The soup was grey and extremely salty. Definitely didn’t seem to be lentil soup. More of a broth. The ciabatta was poor. A thin slice of turkey on the bottom with two thick bits of Brie with cranberry sauce slapped on top. Neither of us finished our meals. Expected more after reading other reviews.

Horrible lunch ... as per other reviewers, we read the reviews and as there isn’t a lot of places around here we thought we’d give it a go given the pictures looked so good. Upon arriving The lunch menu was very restricted .. I ordered two paninis.. one turkey and Brie, one ham and cheese. I ordered as takeaway... upon opening they were warm ish on the outside and so cold in the middle .. at £6/£7 a shot I know they are never going to be the highest quality but the Turkey was that cheapest preprocessed roll meat you buy in packets that doesn’t even resemble turkey... I tried to feed it to the dog and they turned their noses up at it maybe dinner would be nicer but avoid it for lunch!

Having read all these great reviews we decided to lunch at this “gem.” Didn’t find anything gem like about it - even the lacklustre salad was chopped browning iceberg lettuce and not gem. We arrived at 12 only to find it didn’t open till 12.30 so warning ⚠️- the opening times on here are wrong. This wasn’t the best start. We read the menu on the door , and decided what we were going to have. It is a soup and a sandwich place at lunchtime -no langoustines, smoked salmon etc. I had chosen Cullen skink then a roast beef horse radish sauce ciabatta and my dining companion was looking forward to fish tortillas. At 12.30 it opened and you guessed it - none of these options were available. We had the soup of the day - broccoli- which was pretty average. We had ordered sandwiches which we had expected to be served with the soup but they didn’t arrive till half and hour later. My avocado , cheese and rubber fried egg was very disappointing- no lovely soft yolk, it was solid. The pulled pork was ok but very not room temperature but ice cold straight out the fridge. Other people arrive and we watched as no food seemed to exit the kitchen. Allow plenty time here and certainly wouldn’t go back for lunch. £25 for soup and a sandwich and soft drink for two - not cheap either.

We didn't know what to expect from this tiny restaurant (12 tables), but we had a great meal. Our superb and switched on waitress (Kate?) made sure everyone was welcomed and seated promptly. She made gentle recommendations after enquiring what we liked. (Dessert not on display: if you like cheesecake; have still have some etc)The food was home-cooked style and there is room for some improvements as my vegetables were a little too dark and the sauce with my steak a little thin. However the staff worked as team and have passion for what they do, so that made our evening special and deserved them four stars

My boyfriend and I searched places to eat in durness for our last night and was delighted to discover this little place and booked a table at the first instance. When we arrived we were greeted with a pleasant waitress who was working hard to meet the needs of all customers who deserves a mention on here but when the food arrived we were nothing short of disappointed and let down by such a "highly rated" new place to eat. I ordered the lemon sole which came covered in cheese sauce which did not meet the amount of fish and my fish was quite literally swimming in sauce this was accompanied with around 5 small potatoes wedges and a side plate of around 20 sugar snap peas....which felt extremely disproportionate.. we hadn't eaten alll day so save ourselves for our meal we were looking forward too so much. My boyfriends lamb curry was mediocre and we both agreed it was nothing we couldn't put together ourselves. Mg boyfriend had asked for a side of roast potatoes but instead was served 5 small potatoe wedges which to be honest looked like they had been taken off my plate. We were so hungry that we had to tuck in and eat but we're just so let down by the quality of the food we were served. The waitress was extremely busy and we couldn't get her attention to let her know how we felt about our meals. By the end of waiting around for some time I went to ask for the bill and we paid promptly and left. In future I think we will wait untill a new place has more reviews before we go because just because a place has 5 stars it may only have 23 reviews like this place and that doesn't reflect the restaurant enough for us. Truly disappointed and to top it off we had to go buy more food as we both left starving as the portions were so small and non filling!!! Such a shame on our last night in durness. Unfortunately we won't be back and will not be recommending this place to anyone.

This was a lovely experience, the food was not ' swimming in grease' as i saw from another review, but it was great to see that the more recent reviews have been validated. We went here for my birthday at the end of october and honestly everything was really lovely . the service was great they were so friendly from the getgo, the charcuterie board we had for starter was very filling and diverse just wish they would have told us what the cheeses were ( i think the brie was from tain though it was familair) but thats a minor niggle that we had no info. the main courses were fab the skin on chips were AMAZING , and its a dog friendly place which we loved , we dont have dogs but we did get to pet some which made our day !

I recently had the pleasure of spending a delightful day at Dores Inn, and I still find myself reminiscing about the experience six months later. Nestled along the shores of the iconic Loch Ness, this charming inn offers a perfect blend of stunning views, a warm atmosphere, and exceptional service. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a lovely ambiance that sets the tone for a relaxing visit. The inn has ample seating, both indoors and outdoors, making it easy to find a cozy spot to enjoy the picturesque scenery. We opted for an outside table, and it turned out to be the best decision of the day. The views of the loch were absolutely breathtaking, providing a serene backdrop for our meal. Speaking of the meal, I must rave about the food—simply sublime! I usually find coleslaw unappealing, but Dores Inn's homemade version was a game changer. It was fresh, flavorful, and complemented our dishes beautifully. Every bite was a testament to the culinary care that goes into their offerings. After our satisfying meal, we joined a Rib-Boat journey on the loch, which was an exhilarating way to experience the surroundings. The thrill of speeding across the water, combined with the breathtaking views of the loch and its mythical charm, made for an unforgettable adventure. As a memento of our day, I couldn't resist purchasing one of their handmade crochet teddies of Nessie. It's now a cherished keepsake that brings back fond memories of our visit. To wrap up our day, we took a leisurely walk along the shoreline. The tranquility of the loch, coupled with the stunning natural beauty surrounding us, was the perfect ending to a fantastic day. Overall, Dores Inn exceeded my expectations in every way. From the lovely atmosphere and great views to the delectable food and friendly service, it’s a place I highly recommend. If you're looking for an exceptional day out near Loch Ness, don’t miss the opportunity to visit this gem. I still think about that wonderful day, and I can’t wait to return!
