This is a magic wee place. Excellent cake and coffee in a pretty garden setting, with friendly and relaxed service and a cat that was keen to try for a sample of my cappucino (denied). In the shop, a good array of small gifts and really lovely handmade candles and skincare. I bought candles and body lotion. While I fully appreciate that folk need days off, I was disappointed to only be able to visit over the course of my visit as closed Friday and Saturday. I'd have definitely popped in again and made a few more purchases if I could have.

No sandwiches just little oatcakes to have either smoked salmon bits and cream cheese on or humus. Advertising scores jam and clotted cream but no clotted cream available. Apparently the one in the fridge was the sample!!. Why not remove the clotted cream pot if it’s not available? Sadly the scone wasn’t great. Sorry but a disappointing visit this time won’t be going back

A lovely little surprise along the NC500! A beautiful little shop with wonderful smelling candles and soaps etc, even lovely products for pooches!! Out the back is a beautiful little tea room, with tasty cakes and coffees. Great service, dog friendly and very reasonably priced. Thankful to find them after hours of driving. Excellent signage along the way. When you walk in it smells amazing because of the candles and handmade soaps, They have a variety of products that you would want to buy them all, so we took the opportunity to buy a couple of gifts for the family. Also as the name says they have a secret tea garden, so pretty, you can even hear the birds singing. It was a very relaxing time and you can have a cup of tea and a scone, although they also have cakes and savories. It is very cozy, the staff is very friendly, and there is a cat that comes to you to say hello. It was a very nice stop in the small town of Drumbeg.

I was disappointed after reading other good reviews. It's true that the garden was pleasant, the service courteous and cafe cat a sweetie. But my wife and I assumed that a village cafe would have a toilet. The Secret Tea Garden does not have one. The waitress directed me to a public toilet 5 minutes walk away. I am in my 70s and could not reach the public toilet in time, resulting in real embarrassment and discomfort for me. In short, I had 'an accident'. Please make it clear on your website and on signage at the entrance door that no toilet is provided. Turning to environmental impact, every food item was provided in containers or wrappings that created rubbish - even the butter and jam for my scone. The plate and cup were also single use. It's not good enough now to argue that some or even all of the rubbish was recyclable or compostable. In such a small cafe real plates and mugs could be used and small amounts of butter and jam could be served in reusable containers. These are the reasons why I rated the cafe 'poor' and will not recommend it to my friends unless these issues are addressed.

The Secret Tea Garden has a lovely environment and friendly staff. However, this was spoilt by the ‘fast food franchise experience’. You order the prepacked food (in plastic and cardboard) at the counter and then have it placed at a collection point. Such a pity. It also seems very short-sighted to use single use items even if these are compostable. It was not made clear if the large amount of plastic material used is compostable. Compostable materials can release harmful substances when breaking down not to mention the resources and energy used to create them. Completely unnecessary in a small tea room when plates and cups can easily be reused.

I’ve been here twice in the past few years when I’ve done the NC500. Coffee was lovely, we paid approx £7 for two coffees with vanilla syrup. It has some spa music on and the candle shop that you walk through to get to the secret garden, smells of lavender and just switches you into chill mode straight away. The scones looked delicious but we just had coffee. We sat in the secret garden under the sun umbrellas and listened to bees buzzing about, drinking coffee and stroking their very friendly cat. Would recommend to anyone and will come back if I come up this way again.

A more unlikely place to find a quaint tea room we would struggle to find. Located just on the way in to Drumbeg, if you blink you would miss it. The lady in the shop was very pleasant and offered a really good cream scone and hot drinks. The setting was very peaceful and relaxing. Tables guarded by large parasols and canvas coverings, plants and wildlife and a peace you need to experience to understand! This falls under the category of one of those too good to be true places, but it really is. You enter the tiny village of Drumbeg perhaps welcomed as I was with sheep grazing on and around the road. It’s then hard to believe there is this boutique candle shop which would look perfectly at home in Harrods in the middle of nowhere! They produce a delectable range of contemporary candles in all sorts of stylish Highland related scents. Then there is the enchanting tea garden and an array of cakes and drinks that again are very on point. A rainbow cake akin to what you would find in a Soho House is but one of the delightful parallels. It’s a joy that they also offer various savoury treats. I chose a piece of cake and a tea, looking forward to this moment of tranquility only then to be confronted with the fact that there is a minimum spend for contactless and so came to end my pit stop in paradise. I found this disparaging especially if you are a solo traveller it feels prejudice. It’s not like there is anywhere near to get CSH. What a shame. Not so cosmopolitan in the end.

We perhaps visited at around the same time as the people did who left a previous review. We had the impression from the English lady who served us that she was not particularly interested in our business. Very cool with us and we had to work hard at getting any kind of interaction or response, let alone a friendly hello. The place was empty.Perhaps it was an off day. Most people who work in customer facing jobs have those, but try hard to put on a face for the paying public and not let it show otherwise you risk giving a poor impression when a customer visits and lose revenue.

We were looking for something to eat for lunch and had been recommended these tea rooms. They mostly focus on cakes (which looked amazing!), but we were after something savoury. They have a limited choice of two options, so we had both! A cheeseboard and a mackerel pate, both served with oatcakes, and both very tasty. We sat in the small garden, which was a nice respite from the sun.

We visit the secret tea garden every year. It is still beautiful, but this year we were disappointed ! It's the paper cups and plates ! Part of what we loved was the beautiful china . Where is it? what's happened to it? We didn't see the sign to ask for real cups and plates as mentioned to others in their reviews. Bring back the real stuff!!

Charming little cafe. Very welcoming on this long and winding road! Garden is crammed full of plants with the tables and chairs set amongst them. Very tight but on a sunny day very pleasant. Also sell their own home made soaps

Although we live not far away, we had never visited this little place until we took visiting friends out for a drive along the nearby coastal road. What a lovely little place! We had tasty coffee and a delicious piece of cake in the garden which was full of flowers and trees. There is no signal for mobile phones, thank goodness, so you can sit and chill out

This is in many ways a lovely place however we felt it was spoilt by its exclusive use of disposable cups and plates. Not only does this make the experience of drinking and eating less pleasant, it also means a mountain of waste every season. In an age when we are becoming increasingly aware of the fragility of our environment this is contributing to environmental disaster!

I stopped there after my B&B; host recommended it, and was not disappointed! The place is located slightly off the road, and you need to park across from it (but not far), which makes it very quiet. The terrace is really pleasant (particularly thanks to the glorious weather). You order at the counter, and get a number to come pick up your order when it's ready. I had the hot chocolate (complete with whipped cream, marshmallows, and chocolate sauce), and a scone with clotted cream and jam, and both were delicious. I'd definitely come back!

We came here a couple of times last week. The Mum and son who run it are very friendly. The garden is delightful and the cakes are fantastic. We'd have preferred the drinks to be served in real cups/mugs rather than paper cups. They also sell gorgeously fragranced candles and soaps.

Found this place on TripAdvisor. Nice little spot with a small shop featuring neat little gifts. There's a partly covered seating area through the back - great when it's a nice day. We stopped by for a cake and a fine piece. Don't remember there being too much else beyond this area for a while so worth a pit-stop.

Tucked away below the road in Drumbeg in a lovely sheltered spot this is a great wee place, the Hotel looked shut or at best unwelcoming when we were there over Easter so this place was welcome. Good range of cakes and hot drinks and some small gifts including their own home made candles which are a great gift to take home. Would strongly recommend a stop here on what is a wonderful but slow road.

I was reading other comments and I don't think it's pricy at all £4.95 for a beautiful piece of highland soap handmade in gorgeous paper. We loved our tea and cake. I would have loved to have gone to the toilet as we had travelled far but the sign said it was the public ones up the road and I wasn't going to loose the last parking space left!

This was a lovely experience, the food was not ' swimming in grease' as i saw from another review, but it was great to see that the more recent reviews have been validated. We went here for my birthday at the end of october and honestly everything was really lovely . the service was great they were so friendly from the getgo, the charcuterie board we had for starter was very filling and diverse just wish they would have told us what the cheeses were ( i think the brie was from tain though it was familair) but thats a minor niggle that we had no info. the main courses were fab the skin on chips were AMAZING , and its a dog friendly place which we loved , we dont have dogs but we did get to pet some which made our day !

We know the Tongue area very well, and like to eat locally, so it was obvious we would decide to eat at the Craggan, and i'm happy we did! The restaurant area is welcoming and clean, staff friendly, and the car park was easy even with a big van. The only problem was choosing from the menu! So many tasty things - i wish we had more time to visit again.. All three of us enjoyed our food, and we shared everything so i know it was all delicious. Thank you for making a rather wet evening so special..

I recently had the pleasure of spending a delightful day at Dores Inn, and I still find myself reminiscing about the experience six months later. Nestled along the shores of the iconic Loch Ness, this charming inn offers a perfect blend of stunning views, a warm atmosphere, and exceptional service. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a lovely ambiance that sets the tone for a relaxing visit. The inn has ample seating, both indoors and outdoors, making it easy to find a cozy spot to enjoy the picturesque scenery. We opted for an outside table, and it turned out to be the best decision of the day. The views of the loch were absolutely breathtaking, providing a serene backdrop for our meal. Speaking of the meal, I must rave about the food—simply sublime! I usually find coleslaw unappealing, but Dores Inn's homemade version was a game changer. It was fresh, flavorful, and complemented our dishes beautifully. Every bite was a testament to the culinary care that goes into their offerings. After our satisfying meal, we joined a Rib-Boat journey on the loch, which was an exhilarating way to experience the surroundings. The thrill of speeding across the water, combined with the breathtaking views of the loch and its mythical charm, made for an unforgettable adventure. As a memento of our day, I couldn't resist purchasing one of their handmade crochet teddies of Nessie. It's now a cherished keepsake that brings back fond memories of our visit. To wrap up our day, we took a leisurely walk along the shoreline. The tranquility of the loch, coupled with the stunning natural beauty surrounding us, was the perfect ending to a fantastic day. Overall, Dores Inn exceeded my expectations in every way. From the lovely atmosphere and great views to the delectable food and friendly service, it’s a place I highly recommend. If you're looking for an exceptional day out near Loch Ness, don’t miss the opportunity to visit this gem. I still think about that wonderful day, and I can’t wait to return!
