Unfortunately it seems to have gone downhill and isn't a patch on the place it used to be. Drinking chocolate now served in a paper cup which means any sense of decadence and luxuriousness is lost. I understand that this may have helped out during COVID, but we're past that now and when you're spending the best part of £5 on a drink I don't it's too much to expect a proper cup. Despite visiting on a very quiet day, the table we sat at was dirty - it had been cleared but in no way had it been cleaned. Such a shame really - a very disappointing experience and I doubt I'll be going back.

We walked to this hotel from the other end of the village (45mins). We hadn't booked, and the friendly busy waitress had to check she had enough free tables for residents, but we were in luck, and were seated. The menu was of good solid fare. I had scallops from the starter menu for my main course, with a plate of chips, all fine and tasty. My mate had salmon, also fine. He had 2 pts of red ale, and I had 2 glasses of red. £80 for two.

Really enjoyed my food. Was really tasty sea bass dish with couscous cous and other meals were nice as well. However, at £50 a head you have to ask was it worth it and the answer is no. There was also a £3 surcharge for a cheese dessert which is a bit cheeky. The main issue I had was with the service. There was no atmosphere in the restaurant as such until it got busier and our table was up near where they all stand as people come in. Just felt we were being watched the whole time and then just as we finished our courses someone was in your face taking the plate away. This is great service it’s fast service. Not what I want when I’m out for a meal. We did enjoy the bar afterwards as well so rates 4 as whole experience was good, but some serious issues to tackle which would prevent me returning.

When we arrived after our 10hr drive from Lancashire ready for our week ahead, we were made very welcome, offered a drink as we booked in for our rooms. Our evening meal was first class, with Henry’s drunken rum cake, which got top marks for taste. Our fishing trip was organised by the hotel with all permits and boats covered. We caught the weather right for the loch and enjoyed fishing. We will return.

Stopped enrout for lunch, severed a very basic plastic cheeses on toast with half a tomato.... a cherry tomato!! The three of us got half a cherry tomato each, only place I know that cuts cherry tomatoes in half.... we left wondering what happened to the odd half? Serves on thick sliced white bread all very 1970s

What a perfect find. My friends and I took a trip from the black isle over to the hub today. Kids had a blast, adults could have a break and watch the kids, the food was great and prices were extremely reasonable. Staff were fabulous and great with the kids. The charity shop part was full of treasures, well laid out and great prices. Absolutely thrilled and will certainly be back. 100/100

Food was good enough, very basic menu and unfortunately the restaurant was shut which I was gutted about as the menu looked fantastic. Only had a takeaway menu available which was mostly frozen food, also is to be expected seeing as you’re in the middle of nowhere! Staff were lovely, very on the ball. Drinks were well priced.

Really nice pub, great atmosphere, good honest tasty food at reasonable prices. Staff really friendly and polite. Very dog friendly. Pool and darts available. Park up for the night in a motorhome, no one minds.

We called in when visiting Smoo Caves to a burger van in the carpark of this cafe. Served by a very friendly lady and had amazing burgers, hot dogs, bacon rolls and drinks. Refreshing to be somewhere where you are welcomed. We sat out on the picnic tables. Highly recommend.
