THe view at this restaurant is beautiful and the food is very good. We had the duck and the cod, followed by a delightful chocolate fondant dessert. The young waiter and waitress were delightful and looked after us well.

My wife and i stayed here for 2 nights last week whilst we were touring and were delighted broadly with the hotel's offering, but unfortunately this did not include the food. we ate in the restaurant on the first night and we were both slightly disappointed with our mains-my wife's fish was bland and under seasoned and my risotto was OK. We did not eat here on the second night as we had a big lunch and shared a cheeseboard instead as we weren't hungry. on the plus side, we cannot thank Laura enough for her warmth of character and welcoming personality. When we mentioned the issues with the food on the second evening, she immediately deducted these items from our bill-we didn't aske her to do this, but she wanted us to be happy. She cant do enough for you and wants to make your stay as perfect as possible. I would urge the management of this hotel to please recognise the value of this terrific employee as she is amazing and an asset to this establishment. would also like to thank Angie on the front desk for her help and assistance throughout our stay. Hope to see you again-Manoj & Hasu Anand

We had a nice stay here as a family of 4 for one night whilst doing our NC500 route. We received a very warm welcome on arrival. We had two twin rooms that had nice views over the Loch. They were spacious rooms with new very good quality bathrooms with gorgeous Arran Aromatic toiletries. The restaurant served some lovely food, the fresh fish was amazing. The waitress was very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was great and we felt very well looked after.

The restaurant has a wonderful view of the bay but after that, everything else is average. The room itself is sparsely decorated and without any warmth or style. The staff are pleasant but no one seems to be managing things so service is very disorganised. Food is OK but there seems to be some strange issue with some diners eating thigs that aren't on the menu. We were told there was no lobster, yet we saw others eating it after, and not before we had been refused. It's passable if you are staying here but don't bother if you are looking for an enjoyable meal out.

My wife and I visited on the 18th September for a meal to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. The Cullen skink for my starter was beautiful and my chicken main course wasn't bad either. My wife enjoyed her meal as well. 3 courses for my wife and 2 for me plus 3 drinks cost just less than £70, very good value for the quality of the food. The staff were very nice as well, we were given a champagne cocktail on the house because it was our anniversary. Would definitely recommend and we will be visiting again next year.

On our 3 week trip touring Scotland, there were two dining experiences that were memorable for their disappointment and this was one of them. I had Lobster after some persuasion from the waiter and it was quite delicious, but what preceded it and followed it was just OK. The dining experience overall was inconsistent in terms of poorly trained staff serving the table which created confusing and awkward moments throughout the evening, the quality of the food and the presentation. We stayed overnight at the hotel. There was a pretence about this restaurant that overshot its delivery and this was further noticed the next morning when the breakfast presented in the same dining area turned out to be underwhelming both for its offering and service.

Firstly I must say that we are not high spending overnight guests. We have a fortnights holiday twice a year in our holiday home 7 miles away. When out walking we love to drop in on Inver Lodge Hotel for coffee and on two or three occasions, stay for lunch. We particularly enjoyed the Michelle Roux sample platters. Our average spend on each lunch visit would be in the region of £100.The staff have always been very welcoming. We visited yesterday. We had heard that it was no longer Michelle Roux. I introduced myself to the manageress who was new and started to explain what we do. Immediately she said "well I have never seen you before!" I let it pass and asked if we could have coffee and biscuits. The reply was "you can have coffee but no biscuits". We sat down and a very polite waiter brought us coffee and biscuits! We went back again today with the intention of having coffee and then returning for lunch. At 11.45 I asked if we could have coffee. The rather abrupt manageress looked at her watch and said "we are not open to the public yet" and walked away. We also walked away and left, never to return. I know they won't miss our relatively small spend but I feel the manageress could have been more diplomatic in saying that she did not want us. That's a shame as the previous manager could not have been more welcoming. Good old Scottish hospitality!

We booked for a celebratory dinner as a party of 6 and weren't informed until last minute that they could no longer fit us in. On explaining that this might harm their local credibility the booking was reconfirmed and the evening went ahead as planned. . . up to a point. Service was excellent. But when we asked for pre-dinner drinks we were handed a rather limited list of cocktails (no prices on display : mostly whisky- or gin-based). Two of our party chose a vodka/coffee concoction which was pleasant enough if rather underwhelming (three mouthfuls at best which failed to warrant the eye-watering £14.50 charge per drink). The menu was heavily weighted towards sea-food - mainly salmon. As a result five of us chose steak - only to be told that they had run out of steaks and could replace with lamb shank instead). We asked for the lamb to be served with sauteed potatoes and vegetables (which would have accompanied the steaks) rather than polenta. After some initial confusion we eventually received our lamb dishes. On the positive side, the lamb was delicious and more than plentiful. On the negative side, two sprigs of broccoli and two tiny, baby potatoes hardly constitute an adequate accompaniment to any meat dish. Overall impression - quality rather than quantity is all very well, but why scrimp on vegetables that are a fraction of the overall cost of the meal? And pricing of cocktails needs to be seriously revised - or at least warn your punters they are about to be ripped off before they order.

At the end of a very long day, was looking forward to eating in this restaurant. Had booked some months before and was advised to book for the 6pm or 8pm sitting. We booked for the 8pm sitting. expecting a lot of people there. The wait after we arrived was long and when we were eventually shown to the restaurant, (circa 45 mins after 8pm, there were just 2 other people in the place. We eventually ate our meal after 9pm. £16 for a small piece of salmon and literally 3 carrots and 3 asparagus spears, (peas were advertised, but they did not have, so said they had put extra veg on the plate!!!!) was not good value for money. This meal was the biggest disappointment of the holiday. We did not hang around for desert.

I was a bit hesitant as to how good our dinner would be after reading the mixed reviews on TA, however I was very impressed with the quality and taste of the food we were presented with. It is expensive to eat here but it isn't that cheap to eat elsewhere in Lochinver either. What you get here is very good food, excellent service and an amazing view. We enjoyed it so much that we have booked again!

We were staying in Lochinver for three nights and needed somewhere to eat in a town with limited options. As we had had a great meal on our earlier visit we made a booking, which proved to be a little challenging as the first time offered was 1830 - really too early for us. After we arrived our B&B owners rang at our request and told them it had to be later, so 1930, our original preference, suddenly became available. We arrived on time but had to wait for our table, a nice one near to the window with the view of the harbour. My Partner received her drink straight away as she had ordered in the Lounge, but I had to wait quite a long time for a wine list so that I could make a selection and then more time to get a drink, despite the dining room not being full. We both had 'seafood chowder' as we were in a fishing village. The dish had plenty of seafood, but chowder (as in a thick seafood soup) it was not, although satisfactory, despite that hiccup. I had Mille Feuille as a dessert; again it was not as we understand the dish. I think that the hotel had delusions of grandeur without the knowledge to carry it off. Quite expensive and not comparable with the competition in the village, where we had real seafood chowder at less than half the cost. The service was OK, but nothing startling.

One of the finest restaurants in the North-west, the Chez Roux gives a unique experience for an excellent hotel in Lochinver village. Situated on the hill behind the village, this restaurant has great sea views and a short walk over the hill behind has one of the most iconic views of Suilven.

We stayed at the hotel for three nights, so ate in the restaurant several times. Very nice atmosphere - not stuffy like many good restaurants - the staff were very friendly and efficient, and certainly not intimidating. Great choice of food (inspired by Albert Roux of course), and mostly using local ingredients. Its not a cheap place to eat, but certainly top quality food, and great to eat dinner watching the sunset over the harbour at Lochinver.

We stayed over night and dined in the restaurant. The hotel & restaurant staff were lovely, the hotel was clean and comfortable, however we felt that the hotel was dated, the main entrance was drab & unwelcoming. We stayed beginning of June, yet there were no garden chairs or tables to sit out and enjoy an evening drink and take in the view. The evening meal did not meet expectations, it was above average but only just. For breakfast I had the worst porridge ever, unfortunately the eggs benedict was smothered in a very rich heavy sauce which totally overwhelmed the dish. Inver lodge Hotel and the Chez Roux restaurant have the potential to be excellent, but unfortunately they have rested on their laurels and been left behind.

This was the third time we have eaten here, with a 6 year gap between the recent visit and before. It should be a real treat being pampered with high end service and food and the fact this was our third visit, means we appreciated the previous two very much. It's gone downhill. The tables were not clean, where have the table cloths gone? I watched the head waiter prepare a table recently vacated and he cleaned the crumbs from the table onto the floor with the back of his hand, then put the silverware down. I don't expect to see that. Service was friendly but not high end, the small details missing and I've eaten in many fine restaurants over the years. The food ranged from stunning to disappointing. We left feeling robbed for the first time and it made us sad. Please fix!

the Inver Lodge Hotel looks like a prison, but inside it is warm and comfortable and the view over the bay is delightful. The food at lunch is really good, i always order the Roux Express, which serves all courses on a 4 compartmented plate, a sort of static lazy susan. The soup is extremely good, and the battered fish extremely fresh and light. Lochinver is a long drive from Inverness, and i would not make a special journey unless you are a keen walker or trout fisherman, but if you do pass through i recommend the lunch highly.

We visited on a wild, wet, windy day in May with our 2 year old for lunch. The lunch menu was nice and the food was delicious. The reason for the average review is that I would NOT expect a 5 star establishment to get the bill wrong - tried to charge us the full price for our son's lunch. Also really not keen on service charges...... 10% added to the bill for 3 of us......Overall the food was good but I don't think we would visit again.....

We visited Chez Roux which is in Lochinver - not obvious from the address! Service and food were excellent . It was a fixed price £42 per person excluding drinks and wine so quite expensive but it was a holiday treat. Most other diners seemed to be residents at the hotel. Very quiet - nearly more staff than diners? A bit of subdued music might have been nice but we were well looked after and questions were answered. We had nibbles, canapés, starter, mains (good choice) dessert and coffee or tea. Be aware that 10% service charge is added to the bill so don't double tip! A good place for a special celebration.

We were so pleased to discover a Chez Roux restaurant in the North West of Scotland, and although the food was excellent, the service was very poor. The hotel itself is a concrete eyesore with no atmosphere, although the views from the dining room are beautiful. Our meal was very good but seriously marred by the service - lack of knowledge of the food they were serving and how to serve it. Surprisingly the food did not however, fully reflect its location, and is a very short table d'hote menu.

Chez Roux, at the Inver Lodge Hotel, is simply exquisite. After trying this restaurant the first night of our stay at the hotel, we couldn’t resist eating there each evening throughout our stay. Head Chef, JC’s a la carte and daily menus consistently whetted our appetite and even after a few evenings, we were still spoilt for choice. Chez Roux overlooks the harbour and its large patio door style windows make for a wonderful view of the seals and free-roaming red deer, not to mention the glorious sunsets. The staff, throughout all parts of the hotel were absolutely delightful; polite, helpful, courteous and professional without being stuffy. We are fortunate enough to have dined at Michel Roux’s restaurant, Le Gavroche many times. It is our favourite restaurant and our benchmark for any other restaurant. There were some welcome similarities at Chez Roux and the standard of food was a good runner-up; something which we have not said about any other restaurant we have visited. The scallops and belly pork were so delicious I broke my normal rule and ordered the dish again and although the scallops were scrumptious, it was the slow-roasted belly pork that took star place. Their soufflé is also worth a mention, it was as light as could be and converted me to a soufflé fan. We enjoyed Chez Roux so much that we are planning another visit again this year but this time with a group of friends. Can’t wait but diet first!
