Food was good enough, very basic menu and unfortunately the restaurant was shut which I was gutted about as the menu looked fantastic. Only had a takeaway menu available which was mostly frozen food, also is to be expected seeing as you’re in the middle of nowhere! Staff were lovely, very on the ball. Drinks were well priced.

A very busy bar and grill, the bar was very busy due to the attached campsite. However this is not a place I would visit again , I had a 9" pepperoni fries and garlic bread. The garlic bread was an old french stick with garlic. With garlic.ic butter and un melted cheese grated on top. The fries were oven chips just warm. Then the pizza was a greasy doughy mess. Trying not to be a non tasting critique I tried I suffered with heart burn for about 2 hours. Not wanting to waste I, let my 2 labradors has some. They were sick with it. My ward of warning, don't eat there.

We, like many, stay here doing the NC500. we went last night and the Barman was excellent, we eat there - more of a cafe menu but the food was nice enough. We had our dogs with and everything was OK , and it was busy. Tonight was just as busy and we sat in an alcove with our dogs, on purpose as one is a little excitable. Unfortunately, when other dogs passed, there was a lot of barking, some of ours, and others. This happened twice, when one lady kept parading her dog around. However, we where greeted by the nice barman with "the boss is getting a little pissed off at the noise.." . This upset us considering we were out of the way and it what some dogs do. We left to finish our drinks outside in the Haar. Pity really, we did enjoy our first night but this treatment questions our thoughts on being Dog Friendly.

Nasty man here said he owned the place but I'm not sure he did, he asked me to leave ! I hadn't done anything wrong other than park my vehicle, he said I didn't have to go immediately but later so I stayed a bit longer, he came back & ordered me to leave, I drove up the road to look at the cliffs but had to go through a campsite to get to the cliffs, then I went to a petrol station in Furness to fill up with some fuel, he turned up there as well & got out shouting at me, telling me he'd heard reports that I'd gone through a campsite ! He was very aggressive, with severe anger issues, commanding me to leave the fuel stations & get out of town ! I have never experienced anything like it ! I don't know who this weird, horrible, unprovoked man was, acted like he owned the whole town & can tell people to leave town ?! I will forever remember him when I think or hear of Durness

I had read all the reviews re the bar staff being rude and unhelpful and not friendly towards the customers or their dogs (if they barked) - but we found the opposite ! The bar man was very nice and attentive and served customers promptly and chatted to us all. In between customers he was busy cleaning tables etc - the staff were fine. The ladies who made the takeaway pizzas were equally as nice. Pizza was fine actually (base a bit thick) but definitely freshly made and better than the reviews. The place is a bit tired decor wise (seats ripped and torn) and you have to walk past the men’s toilets to get into the bar and they smell of strong urine hence 3/5 given.

We went in for drinks…. We were basically singled out having a noisy dog… and asked to leave… by an arrogant male bar employee…. There is a way to speak to people and this person clearly is inept at the most basic concepts of human communication…. The sad thing is our dog wasn’t one doing all the barking. We were in to spend some money….. will take it elsewhere. Says dog friendly but really isn’t…….. poor.

Both members of staff, male and female were so RUDE! Never in a bar/restaurant have I ever seen such rude and unfriendly staff. They both looked like they had been chewing on wasps! No atmosphere, the wine was like toilet cleaner - couldn’t drink it. The glass smelled disgusting. Seriously, don’t visit this place, save your money and go get some drink from the Spar. We were a party of 6 with 3 dogs and had had three rounds on a Wednesday night. The male bar attender marched over and aggressively announced that our dogs needed to be on leads …fair enough….but the way he shouted it and then said we shouldn’t be on the carpet either was rude and unfriendly. If he had been friendlier we would have had another couple of rounds..we made up most of the numbers in the bar but left after his outburst!

Just wanted to address the negatives about the take away ! Yes no restaurant but the pizza’s where home made rolling out the dough and adding the toppings etc. you can eat these whilst having a drink in bar as well. They also have Pukka pies (nowt finer). Yep it’s not San Carlo or pizza express but hey the view the experience is just spot on! The pizza is as fresh and tasty by the way and looking at everyone else they where popular. Good stack in one morning bacon roll in am and reasonable price if you canny be arsed to cook. What could want for more apart from some sun! However, could up the game on wines somewhat

This place needs a total overhaul. Some of the chairs are those uncomfortable wicker chairs one sees outside pubs. The food wasn’t very good. Not worth the money. The pork belly looked like it had been made days in advance and warmed up, same with the accompanying vegetables. The pork topping was soggy when it should have been crispy. The battered chicken fillets were the cheap frozen ones and not exactly hot. I expected fresh chicken breast battered on the premises, these definitely weren’t. The food is anything but cheap but the quality isn’t there. All in all, they need to spend money to modernise this place, it’s dingy. However, the toilet was clean and fresh looking.

Staying here for a couple of nights in campervan so popped into the restaurant on site, nothing fancy a busy bar with locals and tourists. Menu offered a reasonable choice, steak, burger, macaroni, fish, etc. We wanted red wine but it came in small individual bottles which worked out at £17 for 4 so bit pricy. We both had the burger which came with chips, onion rings and coleslaw and was very good sadly same can't be said for the desserts we had a sticky toffee and a chocolate brownie both were dry, with virtually no sauce on sticky pudding and the brownie was not moist and gooey but thin and tasteless which is a shame as both are simple to make and very popular. Price for main meals roughly £10.00 £12.00 desserts £6.00 and not worth that. All in all if you want something to eat and drink on site without having to drive then this is it.

This restaurant attached to the campsite offered non- fancy dining in a pine-clad interior with ‘pew’ style seating. The menu was fairly basic but the food we had was great - pork belly was especially delicious. The service was efficient though our server did not really have any interaction with us other than writing down our order! The prices of mains weren’t too bad considering the remote location at the far north of Scotland, however the prices of desserts were crazy - £6 for a small portion was OTT.

Since it's the place in Durness/Sango Sands to drink and dine, we think they could improve the standards just a bit. The range of foods and drinks is not that large, but probably suffice for the variety of tourists that visit Durness. Good the place is there after all. We hung out in the bar a few evenings and manage to kill one of the Malts on the shelf. Also a bit pricy for our taste, which is probably due to the non-competition situation. Been blown away by the beach we called in for a drink and decided to have some food in the bar area. It was tea time and the bar was fairly busy. We ordered thee meals and waited a fair while which wasn't really a problem. After a long day the food was welcoming. The pub is ideally located next to the camp site and beach and allows dogs in.

The Sango Sands oasis is ideal for no frills food at a reasonable price for the campers at the caravan park next door. As long as you aren’t looking for anything other than something to write home about you’ll not be disappointed

We all had Sunday lunch (£22), service was good and waitress was friendly. However the Roast dinner was lukewarm, the beef was far from tender and the Yorkshire pud was clearly reheated and very greasy. The bar wasn’t able to provide many of the beers/lagers on tap. Altogether a very disappointing visit. We were here last year and I still remember The Venison I had. Clearly new management/chef. Definitely give it a miss.

No food on offer other than crisps, ice cream and a meagre offering of cake, shocked as we were there for a 1pm show and had travelled over an hour thinking we would be fine for lunch at the theatre. Staff were fine, no hint of getting things done in a timely fashion and not much interaction with customers. Decor is depressing, such a big space makes it cold and echoey. Just no atmosphere whatsoever. Very disappointed and won't be back.

A lovely restaurant with nice food and lovely helpful staff. A spacious restaurant with great views. On offer was fish and chips, macaroni cheese, steak and mushroom pie, beef and haggis olives.

Avoid this place . Poorly cooked frozen fish and staff who see you as sn inconvenience. They add a 10% service charge and offer rubbish service.
