I wandered into this little treasure of a cafe by chance. It’s quite tucked away but well worth the effort. Friendly and engaging staff take a real interest in visitors. The bacon sandwich was fresh and generously filled. Also a great range of homemade cakes and tray bakes. A bright, peaceful and calm atmosphere with a wonderful view of the river and passers-by. Highly recommended and would visit again! Well done team HH 🙂👍🏽

A fantastic hotel nestled in along river Ness. Even though you are right in the city it feels like you’re in the country side. Excellent services in every which way and extraordinary rooms. A must to stay at when visiting Inverness!

I cannot recommend the Oakwood Restaurant and the Highland Lassie enough. Calling ahead to make a reservation and preorder the food was a minor struggle for me—doesn't seem like the cellular reception is great there—but it was absolutely worth the small effort. Bring your own wine if you want it, Oakwood has no liquor license. Also of note: you're on a boat, the small dining room has only one table that seats six. Perhaps we should've expected it, but we were surprised to arrive and find that we were sharing the table with two sets of strangers. Don't shy away, lean into this! We all got to chatting and sharing stories of our lives and experiences, and it made the meal so much more memorable, enjoyable, and special than it would've been otherwise. The food is fantastic, I don't think there's a bad item on the menu, everyone exclaimed about how delicious their meals were, we all cleaned our plates and made room for the fantastic desserts as well. If you have dietary restrictions, let them know when you call, Gus & Gaby will find a way to accommodate you with something special. Gus was very attentive during the meal trying to make sure that everyone was happy. If you have an appreciation for boats, especially wooden boats, dining on the Highland Lassie is an extra special experience. My partner grew up on a wooden boat and knows the craft that goes into them and how much work they are to maintain. We got to talking with Gus and Gaby and they revealed the time and effort they personally put in to restoring the boat (formerly a fishing trawler), designing the wooden decks, rails, and cabins, the types of wood used, and Gus very kindly gave us a tour of the boat after dinner to show her off. She is an absolutely stunning lady with an amazing character and history. The rooms are quite nice, too, if you're considering sleeping on board or taking a cruise! Wonderful experience all around, definitely a memory we will treasure and a highlight of our trip to Loch Ness and the Highlands! Mahalo nui Gus and Gaby, from Angela and Forrest! Aloha from Hawaii and Orkney!

The food is worthy of 5 stars. The location is beautiful and right on the River Ness. We had a lovely table right in the window. But, I can only give this restaurant 4 stars, though, because we were literally there for 3 hours. Our reservation was at 7 p.m., and we didn't leave until 10 p.m. The time between courses was unbelievably and unnecessarily long. We were there so long that we really didn't have time for anything else after dinner, which was unfortunate.

My partner and I have stayed at the hotel a couple of times and eaten in the restaurant on both occasions. The food is amazing and the staff are very friendly and professional. The restaurant itself is divided into a number of rooms which gives more intimate feel and not like you are stuck in the middle of a big hall full of diners. 10/10 we will be back as soon as we are in Inverness again.

Visited the cafe after seeing some posts on Facebook about how good cakes were etc, we had a lorne sausage roll and a egg and sausage roll, but was disappointed at the lorne sausage was just a single slice and was like the cheap version you'd get from farmfoods or something, for £3.95 you'd expect decent sausage and two pieces at least, coffee was fine cake selection not great, would not be rushing back

Beware!!!! Only serving breakfast if you're lucky. No longer serving lunch or dinner despite website declaring otherwise. No facility to book on line as there are virtually no facilities. Exactly the same scenario with the restaurant at the Premier Inn in Dumfries!!!

I've checked into the premier inn for 3 nights to find out the beefeater is closed for food and drink because all the staff have walked out due to soon be opening there own in house Thyme restaurant so there is only staff there in the morning to cook breakfast....yet nothing is on the website about it being closed !!!! I would of booked into another hotel if I had know 🙈🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️

No food on offer other than crisps, ice cream and a meagre offering of cake, shocked as we were there for a 1pm show and had travelled over an hour thinking we would be fine for lunch at the theatre. Staff were fine, no hint of getting things done in a timely fashion and not much interaction with customers. Decor is depressing, such a big space makes it cold and echoey. Just no atmosphere whatsoever. Very disappointed and won't be back.
