Location The hotel is located outside the city centre and in fact slightly further away from the general Westend area of Glasgow. Nonetheless, it is a nice location, there is some car park spaces outside the hotel. Building The building itself is several old Glasgow townhouses put together to form the hotel. It has period features such as stained glass windows, wood panelling and wooden staircases. I found the layout somewhat confusing, the hotel has put in link corridors between the buildings but it is difficult to know which direction I am heading. There are also various passages and doors which end up taking you to areas which I didn’t think I was going to. It isn’t the typical wide-open reception which is typically seen. Room I stayed 3 nights in a Classic room called Botham. The room faces North and it has high ceilings as expected in his period building. In many ways, I was pleased to be given this room, when I stayed it was hot and the sun from the south would have really heated the room up. It is important to note, that there is no air conditioning in this hotel if it is hot it is simply open the window and they have provided a Dyson fan in the room. The first impression of the room looks pretty good, until you look closer, there is quite a lot of wear in places. The finish overall in the bathroom is quite poor, where there is a gap, someone just stuck a bit of wood in the gap and crudely painted it over. The room generally is kept clean, but there are times when I find myself sitting down at the desk for example the lamp shade could have been cleaner, and the top of the shower heads has never been cleaned during my time staying there. I am not sure if there is a timetable for when these should be cleaned or if there is an inspection on cleaning because there seems to be poor attention to detail. Breakfast Breakfast is in the dining room. My booking came with breakfast. There are 2 options you can opt for the continental option or the cooked version which is more expensive. With the cooked version you can also have continental as well. The food offering is fine, I have attached some pictures I had the Full Scottish which I have attached photographs showing how parts of the bacon were burnt. Whilst I was staying there, another guest spoke with the restaurant manager to stay he had ordered 2 different things and neither was tasty. I have ordered a different breakfast again with partly burnt bacon, the hotel seems to have a knack for burning bacon. Service I found the service to be not bad, due to the set up of all the kooks and crannies I never really see many staff around. Check-in and check-out was smooth enough. I would say the service is satisfactory but not memorable. There is no one I came across that I felt really made me memorable about them. Overall I would say I probably won’t stay there again, location is fine but if you want to explore the Westend or Glasgow City then you will need to get a taxi or walk to the Westend. This is supposed to be a 5-star hotel which I wouldn’t have guessed. I would put it closer to a top 3 star or a 4 star realistically. The rooms are really quite worn in places and nothing much looks like it has been done to update or renew it. It is getting somewhat tatty. There are now many good hotels in Glasgow I don’t think it is quite up there anymore.

Without a doubt, *the* best brunch I’ve had in Glasgow. Consistently reliable in its quality of food and service, you could pick anything at random on the menu and you’d likely come away satisfied and delighted. There’s often a wait of 1 hour/1 hour 30 mins-ish for a table but I assure you, it’s worth it (and the prices are very reasonable) - plus that gives you time to visit the nearby coffee shops, bakeries, and stroll about Queen’s Park while you wait in justified anticipation.
