Bawarchi Indian restaurant and takeaway in Glasgow City

Thoroughly enjoyed my meal and all four dishes delicious- I would go so far to say its been the best Indian meal I’ve had in Glasgow!

Sent for delivery, ordered chips and curry sauce, never got chips instead was sent French fries and the curry sauce was all lumpy. my other order was seabass and potatoes both where cold when they arrived. Never again will I use this place .

I used the takeaway here, so I can't really comment on the atmosphere. I ordered , in the takeaway, getting chicken bhoona, rice , chips, and chapatis. The guy who served me was friendly and came back with my ordering quick time. The food was lovely, I have had better, however, it hit the mark and we both enjoyed it

Visited this place for dinner this evening. Their kheema pav, lamb chops and chilli chicken were amazing. Naan bread and tandoori rotis were freshly made and soft. The kids ate really well. Would recommend.

We have been going here for years and the food and service is consistently phenomenal. We moved out of the area but still go back a couple times a month to get takeaway as we love the food so much! The saag aloo is the best I’ve ever had. Highly recommend!

Had a wonderful meal tonight. Table service was prompt and friendly. My starter ( mixed pakora) was superb. Main meal was a chicken Jipurai ......cooked to perfection. The final bill, not as heavy as my belly when I was finished. Great food, great atmosphere 👌 definitely be back.

Moved to Glasgow six months ago . And can homely sat this place had the best food, communication anybody could ask for . Sarah s Anniesland (Your regular cos you are amazing ) Could not fault 10/10

It was supposed to be traditional lamb curry ( was so salty it couldn't be eaten and the other was supposed to be chicken malaidar. I have never seen anything like it. This dish is a firm favourite and has been ordered in many different restaurants. I have never seen it look or taste like this. What a waste of £45 in this current climate. What an absolute shame all this food ended up in a bin bag. Just to add management called and apologised. They are going to send another meal tomorrow as compensation. I do appreciate that the management here actually care about their customers and business. .

Ordered takeaway. Got home and NO PAKORA sauce in bag. Very disappointed. Chicken not very tasty and sauce very watery. My husband enjoyed his lamb bhuna but sadly first and last time buying from there for me.

It didn’t start great. Took 15 minutes to get a drink order, then 10 minutes to get the drinks. However when the food came out it was seriously good. The staff were very friendly and helpful, despite the poor start.

Where do I start??? Best curry in Glasgow. Portion sizes fantastic, but more importantly flavours are amazing. Although it was a takeaway tonight (as we were away for a few nights) it doesn’t deter from the quality of food. Chef knows his stuff. If you have not visited this Gem of a Restaurant you should make the effort.

Visited this restaurant for the first time en route to an event in Glasgow. Great choices in the menu and the food was freshly cooked. Waiter recommended best options and the service was friendly and quick. Highly recommended.

Visited my local Bawarchi as we hadn't been for a while, so was really looking forward to it and had been looking at the menu on line prior to my visit but I really new what I wanted anyway.!! Met up with a friend at 5:00pm at the restaurant, walking in the door & met with wonderful smells. We ordered a meal, started with a dish that we had actually invented as it wasn't on the menu.? Lamb Pepper Fry Puri. !! Which is delicious, lovely marinated chunks of lamb in sauce served on the Puri, we told them they need to put it on the menu so others can enjoy it.? Followed by a Tikka mix with lovely chunks of tikka lamb & chicken, sauce & salad with a garlic nan bread all prepared freshly. Absolutely delicious. Always look forward to another visit soon, or as we do get a carry out meal & pakora. !! See you soon.

June 2024 update: still a great place to get tasty food at a decent price. I previously had a dosa here but that was not available tonight, but what I had (Ra Ra Gosht and garlic naan) was delicious! Since it's out the way, you might not stumble across this charming wee place. That would be a terrible shame, as the quality and variety of food on offer here is fantastic. My recommendation is to try the lamb tandoori- when I had it, it came out sizzling and had an unbeatable flavour!

We ordered a takeaway, Chicken Lababdar, Lamb Desi, a portion of Butter Chicken Sauce, Peshwari Naan and Cumin Rice - absolutely wonderful! You must go here to eat in or takeaway, we’ve done both and are blown away by the flavours (also eating in is a lovely experience, staff are amazing).

Excellent unimposing wee spot for really tasty Indian food at a very reasonable price. Also run a loyalty scheme.

Consistently the best Biryani I've ever had.

Had the most amazing takeaway from Bawarchi (again!), consistently great. Lamb Desi, Butter Chicken and Chicken Lababder so tasty, Peshwari Nan the best. Looking forward to eating in the restaurant again, now the weather’s improving! Thank you Yoga and your team!

Three of us just had takeaway and I was driven to write a review because it was excellent. I had the tandoori mixed grill with a hot sauce and a naan and I could not fault it. At the other end of the spectrum my wife had the sweet chicken korma and also really enjoyed it. The pakoras were also great. The people are nice and the delivery was faster than estimated even on Friday night. Thanks.

Brilliant Indian restaurant. A gem for anyone out past the West End. Never fails to provide taste sensations and leftovers can be bagged up for a mid-week treat. Was listening to the Lizzy whilst eating made me thing of a nice mural from somewhere else.

They are working in scotland and they dont know what chicken tikka masala is, phoned them to resolve the issue but not helpful, pics attached, definitely this is not chicken tikka masala, not even chicken tikka, Its tasteless chicken curry with raw onions and peppers, wasted £28

If you miss your Indian Chinese food, then this place is the one to go to. I tried their dragon chicken which was delicious. I wish they added some Chinese soup options especially in these freezing temperatures.

Had an enjoyable family meal here. the food was nice , unique, and tasty. The staff were welcoming and accommodating. If I had any criticism, it would be lighting, and privacy, it was far too bright and could have benefited from some screens or partitions . Oh, and the gents smelled like Tam Shepherds fart spray from the 80s Good night out .

Recommend by a friend who visited a few weeks ago and said the food was delicious so thought we would try a takeaway. Last Sunday evening called up to place an order for delivery after an hour still no food called them and was told delivery driver had left with a few orders, another hour passed by this time it’s 8pm still nothing, called again to be told order had been missed and they would make it up now. Sorry no cancel the order. Unfortunately they have lost a new customer both for takeout and dine in.

Second lot of Pakora burnt to a crisp, totally disgusting.

Been here a few times and the food has been consistently good.

Been going for years but too busy now at weekends, food is great and booking is a must but you could find yourself with a table time limit which for us is no good for our night out.

Food is great..service is fine but a bit disorganised. Worth a visit.

We had takeaway curry last night from Bawarchi. Our honest opinion which hopefully the restaurant/ takeaway will acknowledge. Vegetable Pakora starter was super salty and not fresh, burned and smelled bad like the oil hasn't been changed in the fryer. King Prawn jinga tandoori main course was salty. Ok, you think prawns should be salty but you'd be wrong when expecting sweet tasting prawns. Not plump but varied soggy to tough. Bizarre. Lamb Rogan Gosh was super salty and although the lamb was tender it was inedible just like the King Prawn and Veg Pakora. The plain nan bread was charred like it was reheated from earlier. We ate enough for it to cause a sleepless night with indegestion. Most definitely not worth the approximately £30 spent. We had takeaway curry from Bawarchi last month which we'd rate 3/5 but thought would try again since Christmas time can be hit or miss. On this experience we won't be back. 1/5 is being kind.

Ordered a take away. Two hours later it hadn't arrived. Was told it was "on its way", which was a bare faced lie. It's a strong field in which to compete but this has to be the worst service I've ever experienced. An absolute shambolic disgrace. If you're taking money for food and then proving yourselves unable to provide it, you don't deserve to survive as a business. Utterly appalling.

Water fantastic place a gym in Anniesland Glasgow food is fantastic and very reasonably priced I would highly recommend it's very authentic and staff are Pleasant food is very fresh keep up the good work

Worse Buttur chicken ever tasted. Worse chicken jelfrezi ever. try and go to a better place. I went for it because of the good reviews but the food was awful. Waste of money won't buy again.

Yesterday we ordered food from Bawarchi restaurant Glasgow for our son's 7th birthday. We are so happy that we made right decision. Everyone came to our party was talking about food taste they really loved the food. Food is really important for a successful party. The best Indian food ever tried in Glasgow. Strongly recommend for their best quality and taste that too in reasonable price. Everything in one combo.👌🏻

It had to be a reliably brilliant meal for our first meal out after so long!!! Shared starters from Indian street food and old favourites. A lovely friendly experience! Main courses perfect and impressively presented so it felt like a treat. Delicious red wine. Ice cream perfect, old friends in staff and chefs came and made time to catch up with us despite being busy, servers both responsive and giving privacy. Love it!! Thanks so much for your beautiful food ❤️

Hidden gem. More authentic than what food you get in India. This is where you get the quality when the chef owns the restaurant. Must try Indo Chinese. Chicken biryani on the bone and South Indian recipes. Amazing dosa. Amazing hospitality.

We’ve had good tasty food every time we visit. Our friends who have visited India and loved the food there thinks Bawarchi is one of the best Indian restaurants in Glasgow. Their South Indian food (dosa) is especially good!

Just had a chicken tikka meal + 2 chappati ( pic k up ) 1st the chappati were hard probally re heated ..also ckicken did not taste like tika ..overal was very dissapointed it was my 1st time as a customer and most definitely the last ...if i foned up and complained and was offered a free meal of my choice i would politely decline .beware best to avoid and try somewere else

Bawarchi is the best Indian food me and my wife have ever tried.We have eaten Indian food all over for a long long time and bawarchi is the best we’ve tried by a country mile.After we tried it when Peter and chef first took over from the Agra we told all our family to try it.We all use it now and don’t even think of going elsewhere .His butter chicken and lamb desi are to die for.As is his peshwari nan and light and fluffy rice.Superb.Also can I just say the guys who do the deliveries are a credit .So we need to support bawarchi in these trying times as to lose it would be an absolute disaster.If youve not tried it yet,trust me ,do yourself a favour ,and let us all know what you think .I’m sure you won’t be disappointed ,and it’s on our doorstep !!.Support Bawsrchi..

Butter chicken, lamb Bhoona Madras, vegetable dopiaza and peshwari Nan are absolutely the best. Great to find some big black cardamoms in the dishes. We’ve recommended Bawarchi to many friends and family members who also love the food from this amazing Chef. Don’t go anywhere else!

Tired placing order online, and sadly they refused to deliver food at my address. The restaurant is just 3.5 miles away from my address. When I called to place they agreed to send the food at an extra delivery charge, to which I agreed. But then the guy on the phone tried to overcharge me for food, and when I confronted him and told that he is overcharging me, he started giving senseless execuses. I finally decided not to place an order. I had food from this restaurant earlier this year and the food was delicious, sadly they have pathetic customer service. I will never order food from this restaurant.

The Butter Chicken, lamb Madras, Aloo Gobi, rice and Peshwari are the best! Would not go anywhere else. Don’t understand the recent review about bad customer service, it’s exceptionally good, never, ever had a problem and we eat/order here constantly. The Chef is such a mild mannered man and every other staff member have been exceptionally polite and friendly. Personally I would ignore the last review.

Wow.... Delicious food. It has been a while since we had nice Indian food outside. Very tasty and authentic. Friendly staff and great customer service. The kids enjoyed the food too. Would definitely be visiting regularly and strongly recommend for anyone who would want to try a tasty Indian food.

I'm still eating while I type because they deserve a 5 star review for their outstanding customer service and food quality. It's hitting the spot and they have made me feel like a valued customer. We understand it’s difficult times and all business are struggling but for me when I never leave reviews to give an idea of how bad it was - we found a hair in our chicken pakora and when we called we we’re accused of putting it there!!!!! Our mains were ok but very Luke warm at best Outrageous and extremely poor service and we will NOT be back. Very lucky that one star is lowest Be careful what you order

Our favorite indian food in glasgow!! I've never had anything I didn't like, the hardest part is just deciding what to get! Plus when we order delivery it almost always is delivered early.

We have been getting takeaway and every time it has been delicious. The traditional curry, the korma and aloo saag, lamb chops are amongst favourite. Peshwari naan is the best naan i have had. We have also been the restaurant few times at the service was great !

Great portion size, meal.deals available and a curry that stacks up well in Glasgow's great selections. Really nice staff too. This is based on a takeaway meal.
