The Marigold Café in Glasgow City

6 of us had a lovely meal last night at The Marigold. The menu was excellent with lots of variety, including the vegetarian options. We had a large selection of dishes and each was lovely. The staff were very pleasant too. Thank you.

The decor of the restaurant was beautiful, although slightly ruined by the choice of music they had playing, it's not a nightclub. The service was a little slow. It was a pretty full restaurant with only 2 staff members working. However, after we ordered our food it was pretty fast and tasted nice. Liked the idea of small plates so we could all share but the tacos and bao buns are difficult to share. Marigold Fried Chicken with the peanut sauce stole the show. Would probably go back but not in a rush because I'm worried the service is slow again as they applied service charge on to your bill.

The best brunch I've had in ages - so nice to find somewhere that offers something a bit different. Delicious Indian-inspired food, beautifully prepared drinks, and lovely staff. Massively recommend.

It was quiet but some of the best food I have ever eaten - honestly it was amazing.

My favourite place in west end. Usually come here lunch time. Staff are very friendly and nice to my kids too. Lunch time it’s not too busy and we can eat and relax. Food is great here, some sort of Indian fusion?? Tastes all good anyway. I always order fried chicken, my favourite!

Highly recommend Marigold. Just off G Western Road, it’s a gem of a restaurant - excellent food and too notch staff. Between 4, we tried a range of dishes, the highlights for us being the Cauliflower Malai, five spice chicken and Indian-style Shepherd’s pie. We’ll be back to try more of the menu I’m sure!

Ordered small plates, I got the spicy mashed potato and spicy chicken skewers. Excellent staff and atmosphere, very family friendly.

Absolutely loved this restaurant. The staff were so lovely and friendly. The decor inside is gorgeous and is so cosy with a lovely atmosphere. We went for a few tapas dishes and they were delicious. The Marigold Fried Chicken was particularly amazing, as were the masala fries and naan bread. Will definitely be back!

For us, a good bar/restaurant combines great service, fantastic food and drink, a good ambience and attention to detail. Thank you! You deliver all of these. We’ve lived in the West End for a number of years and this is a favourite spot of ours. We just love it! Our favourite dish is your ‘MFC’. The deep fried prawns were a wee bit small today, so consequently a little on the dry side, but I don’t like to complain when you are all working so hard and in such a polite and efficient manner. We’ll be back as soon as we can.

Food was poor. Ordered Popadoms, got some monster munch instead. Hassleback potatoes were undercooked, lamb in the slider was smaller than the tomato slice. Food all sounded good but was really disappointing

Well I've had to give them one star to put the review on but didn't even get to eat here. Booked a table a week in advance for 9.30pm for last Saturday night. At 8.40 pm they rang us saying we needed to be there by 9 as the kitchen closes at 9.15...they told us that it was an error that we were able to book the table for this time...their booking site even has slots advertised til 10pm. We'd just bought a drink in the pub up the road so other than downing it or leaving it we clearly couldn't make it with such short notice so had to forfeit the meal. I wouldn't mind so much but we'd paid for taxis (£25 round trip) to get us to this part of town specifically to go to the restaurant. Then they had the cheek to email to say that we'd cancelled the table.. absolute insult as we had no chance then to get in somewhere else.

My wife and I were attending The Stand comedy club, Glasgow for a birthday treat. It was my responsibility to find a restaurant near to the venue, that’s when I found The Marigold Cafe which had positive reviews. This is a tapas restaurant, on our arrival we were shown to our seats by a very pleasant young man, we were then greeted by an equally pleasant young lady who explained that 3 small plates each would more than enough and she wasn’t wrong. The food was fantastic. All in all we had a wonderful experience, I’m delighted we found this little gem and we will definitely be back.

First visit here. Really nice venue. Staff were friendly and moved us to a better table when it one was available. Food was good and arrived quite quickly. Would recommend the Dahl and fried chicken. Took a while to get our drinks both times but it looked like there was only one person on the bar. I think we’ll be back to try some of the dishes we didn’t manage to this time.

We visited after seeing a review online. Lovely surroundings with a mix of modern & vintage decor. Staff were very friendly & smiley from the start. The menu was very different, with a mix of lunch & brunch options, all with a spicy/ Indian twist. Loads of flavours which all worked well together. I had a chilli paneer flatbread with hassleback potatoes & my husband had a breakfast Naan with masala fries. Everything was delicious. Only slight negative was that the drinks were quite dear.

I’ve come to Marigold Cafe often since it opened. It’s a really relaxing environment, the food is great quality and the service is impeccable. As a balance I think it deserves 5 stars as each area of experience is high quality. I’ve been at different points during the day with different groups and it’s always been the same. My friends describe it as an “out of London Dishoom” because it’s better priced and nicer food.

Very expensive. Order cauliflower courgetes they were the sizes of a malteser. The plates were tiny. Wont be back

Third time visiting The Marigold Cafe Glasgow and this is fast becomming one of my favourite eateries in the city. Firstly, the place is absolutely stunning…stunning. The drinks / cocktail menu is superb and the food is out of this world. The Shepherd’s Pie was my favourite last time we visited for dinner. Today the wife and I went for a boozy brunch, the breakfast nan was amazing and my wife’s eggs Ben with a sriracha hollandaise was out of this world. Couple of exceptional Bloody Marys (spicy) and I’m a happy boy. The staff are all super friendly too. Full FIVE STARS from us. Keep up the great work Team Marigold.

The food was amazing! It was our servers first day and he was great, very attentitive and friendly. Really enjoyed the cappuccino and espresso too. The food had a kick and was bursting with flavour, we will definetly be back!

This is a great find for pre-event dining. Great Indian street food, great service and a nice atmosphere- it’s always a bit quiet midweek before 7! Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed!

First time visit. We enjoyed it but were not wowed. Group of 8 and all agreed that it was a nice place, our server was great, but the food was average. Plenty of options for food in Glasgow and won’t be rushing back but glad we visited

Very long wait times (long wait time to order, from there it took 50 mins for food to arrive). Can’t understand how the kitchen was ‘backed up’ so early in the day. Drinks order was wrong. Was offered free drinks due to food delay, fair enough. Bill came with automatic 10% service charge - had to ask to be removed. Food was fine but can’t recommend this place.

Fantastic, delicious food and cocktails and great service.

While the food and service were great, it's one of the few restaurants we've been to this winter where it's actually been warm and cosy, even downstairs in the basement toilets.

Not a busy time with it being January, but food and service were excellent, every dish we got was great, will definitely be back!

This restaurant is absolutely superb! Food is a modern fusion of Indian flavours with strong Scottish, and international touches, melded into fantastically novel flavours. If you love Indian food and Scottish food you’ll love this quirky combo. As a table of 9 adults and teens we had a large selection from the menu and honestly everyone loved everything. Staff are excellent, polite, attentive, friendly and professional. Decor is beautiful and stylish too. It’s a 10/10 from us!

I loved everything about our visit on Saturday!! First time at the venue and will absolutely be back!! The restaurant itself is really pretty, music was great.. the staff were knowledgeable and extremely friendly and obviously the star of the show was the food…. Wow! We obviously over ordered but we managed to eat every morsel as it was so incredibly good!! Will be back SOON! Can’t recommend this wee gem enough x

Beautiful lunch! Staff were warm, welcoming and relaxed and the decor is beautiful. We had a cocktail to start (Ruby Daiquiri) which was fruity, tangy and sweet followed by some Pinot Grigio. My little boy had waffles from the brunch menu while the adults opted for the 2 for £10 day menu. The food was delicious. We got the Marigold Fried Chicken (the butter sauce with it was so tasty), salt and chilli spring rolls, hassle back potatoes and honey chilli chicken bao buns and masala fries. We had the gulab jamun sundae which was nice - we just needed a bit more gulab and sauce to ice cream ratio. Was a lovely treat and we will certainly be back.

Lovely cafe bar atmosphere. Friendly service and some nice food. Quirky selection of crossover indian/asian/european dishes. Highlight was the house special cottage pie (delicately spiced up), closely followed by lamb parcels and spring rolls. Reasonably priced. Two dishes per person is plenty.

Had a great time at this lovely Indian small plate spot! The menu has tons of options. The MFC fried chicken and pulled lamb samosas were especially tasty. Also, loved the colorful poppadoms – a nice touch!

Food was amazing only small niggle is they didn't ask if anyone had allergies. Didn't relate to us on this visit but I do have family members with nut allergies so I'm always aware of it.

Everything was excellent, food was great, just maybe could have had a bit more on the plates? Idea was great though and no complaints about quality or service!

Beautiful venue and bar. Was a little quiet as was an early Sunday night. Lovely staff. Food was delicious and great portions for sharing. Enjoyed every dish. The Naan breads were a little soggy but apart from that everything was tasty, well cooked and moreish. Lovely bottle of wine and a chilled night. Will definitely return.

Really attentive staff however felt the food was very overpriced for what it was. The quality of food wasn’t great and was expecting more. One small taco for £7.50 I feel is hugely expensive.

The restaurant was quite chilly when we arrived so I didn’t feel like I could fully relax. Some of the staff were lovely but others were slightly off. The food was disappointing and didn’t pack much of a punch, in my opinion. Even simple things like the popadoms and nanns were lack lustre which is a shame because the idea of lots of the dishes sounded great - they just need to work on the execution of them.

A lovely lunch and great service. Our dog is made very welcome too and we appreciate this.

Very nice and relaxed atmosphere, attentive and friendly staff when required without interrupting your meal. The food is flat out amazing, we had about 7 dishes split between the three of us with a side of the naan breads and every dish was incredible. I'd recommend trying the mango and like cider as it paired really nicely with the Indian style dishes.

This place serves a fusion of Indian and west cuisine. We tried their Pulled Lamb Grilled Flatbread and Rahra Gosht; both the dishes were delicious and the presentation is fantastic. The bar menu has got quite a few variety of options to choose from( tried the Old Fashioned Cocktail ). A perfect place for a brunch in Glasgow.

The Marigold Fried Chicken with butter sauce is divine. The food took a while to get to us because of a supposed technical glitch, but nonetheless had a great time.

Portion of eggs and avocado on toast was very small, the smallest piece of bread I’ve had in my many avocado and eggs on toasts I’ve had in many places. Service was very slow , took around an hour to arrive, drinks were finished by the time the food arrived, no offer of another one. Staff were friendly enough however lacked genuine warmth. Lovely interior inside , maybe picked a bad choice

All of the dishes arrived at once, the food was a mixture of hot and luke warm. Great flavours but the plates should have arrived hot and individually. Consequemtly, a very disappointing dining experience.

After hearing about this place from friends I decided to give it a try and overall enjoyed the experience . The decor inside was absolutely fantastic. The staff were very friendly. The food was very tasty . I went for the Marigold fried chicken which was quite tasty although I would have preferred more spices to come through but it was a pleasant experience. I also went for the Rahra Gosht which has similarities to a Shepard's pie . At the start I thought the mash potato overpowered everything however the spice kicked in and it was really tasty. It was well seasoned and the mash potato was excellent . Along with the two dishes I went for the naan bread and it was not great to be honest. It was a strange mixture of being burnt and chewy at the same time. Overall I really enjoyed the fusion experience and would definitely go again to try some more unique dishes .

The food was amazing. The place itself is very modern but cozy. The staff are excellent. I would recommend two dishes for yourself and one to share.

My Daughter and I took my wife out for lunch for her Birthday and we couldn’t have picked a better cafe. Beautiful interior and we had a seat at the rear overlooking the river with the windows open. From start to finish, service and quality of food was excellent. We picked 5 different dishes to share and weren’t disappointed. To finish off, we ordered the gulab jamun sundae and the dark chocolate ganache. Wow! Will certainly be back.

I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Is a tapas style menu but every dish we had was exceptional and flavourful. The staff were friendly and welcoming from the second we walked in the door and the service could not be commended more. I will most certainly be returning to try the rest of the menu as every option sounded tasty. Thank you so much for a fantastic dining experience and we shall see you again soon.

Lovely setting and delicious lunch. Came on a sunny day all doors open and great atmosphere. We had the flat bread with chicken and it was really tasty. Would really like to go back at night as I am sure it would be a great wee place to visit.

Excellent service and great decor. Unfortunately, let down by the food.. The Dahl was watery, and the rest of the dishes bland. Fish taco was the only saving grace, although you do only get one, despite the sharing ethos. Overall, not necessarily the quality you'd expect for the price point..

The service was good. The lack of dishes for those with allergies was disappointing, although some dishes could be modified. I don’t like the 10% service charge!

10% service charge of £5.50 for 2 people for lunch very cheeky food average as well so won't be back.

We went here for lunch. I had the loaded naan, which is basically a fried breakfast wrapped in a lovely soft naan with sweet masala sauce. It was delicious.

The food was delicious, every item we chose was full of flavour. The dishes may be small but with 8 between 3 of us, we were delightfully full. The fish tacos, MFC, masala corn, and rahra gosht stood out. Service was also great, the staff were attentive but not intrusive. I highly recommend and hope to return.

Absolutely shocked at these other reviews! Had the tacos- the tortilla taco thing was hard as a brick- loaded with too much on it wasn’t sure how to eat it. The murgh malai chicken was bland as a cucumber no flavour at all. The Hollandaise sauce on eggs Benedict was sickening but we were hungry so ate it. Also the presentation was absolutely shocking lol! The Bombay potatoes didn’t seem fresh(our stomachs been sore) and neither did the naan. Only raita sauce on everything. The day menu was extremely disappointing. Seems like they tried to copy dishoom but touched no where near it. Service- seemed like new staff member, we weren’t treated the same as other customers as we had no idea what was on the menu would have been nice if waiter went over it. The waiter in end asked how it was- I remained quiet as I wasn’t sure if I should have pointed out the negatives but due to my disappointment I remained quiet as I just wanted out. Sorry guys not a great review from me but it’s honest. If others read this do try it as everyone’s taste buds are different but we were hugely disappointed. Wish them all the best

My husband and I had a fantastic meal at the Marigold Cafe. Staff were very welcoming, helpful and friendly. We loved every dish that we had and our favourites were the scallops, bombay potatoes and the gosht. The cocktails were also lovely, I would recommend trying the chaitini. We will definitely be coming back.

Portion size on some foods was small and not really enough for sharing

Some of the best Indian cuisine I've had, and all done in tapas size dishes, so you can taste lots.

Indian food is my favourite. I do it a lot and I cook it a lot. Marigold and a wee place in Leeds are by far the front runners for me by a long way. I have dined in some expensive and accoladed places in the UK and abroad. Mostly down to earth places, and in my opinion better, in Leeds (as mentioned), Bradford, Glasgow, London, Edinburgh. This was absolutely delicious and good value. The head waiter is a major asset. We have been before and he is brilliant and very lovely and part of the reason, apart from the food, that we wanted to return for a family celebration. We were not disappointed. However, I always tip generously at 10% plus and the choice was taken away from me. Only negative for a top class night.
