Madhras Dosa in Glasgow City

Food was amazing! They told us everything that could be vegan. Mysore dosa was incredible and it really gave us the feel of India with the simplicity of the restaurant. We loved it!

We made catering arrangements from here. Satheesh was fantastic. The food came as promised, hot and delicious. Huge quantities of food with authentic flavours. We had medu Vada, idli, sambhar and sambhar rice, Pongal, payasa, uthappam. Superb service and would highly recommend.

The food was brilliant and very reasonably priced, the service was great, all the staff particularly the owner Satheesh where very helpful and friendly, they have a wonderful mural on the wall celebrating Indian and Scottish culture 👍🇮🇳🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

I saw a post about Madhras Dosa on Instagram and knew I wanted to try it when I visited Scotland from Australia! I wasn’t disappointed. Had the masala dosa and a mango lassi. Such good, honest food. Loved the chutneys that came with the dosa and the lassi was the perfect accompaniment. Service was quick and super friendly. Great value. If I had more than a couple of days in Glasgow I would definitely return.

Delicious food for a great price

Just like Mum's cooking! Best south Indian I've had in Glasgow and at a great price. The waitress was so helpful and friendly and the selection is huge.

Such an amazing find - think I found my fav Indian restaurant in Glasgow. I m always on the look out for proper simple Indian food. It takes me back to India - sweet chai, lovely aloo in masala dosa and satisfying sambar vada. Also ordered the chicken biryani and paratha. All finished :)

Great authentic dosa and good value too.

I had the King Lamb dosa. It was amazing and huge! It tasted exactly like the one I had in 1997 on Chowpatty Beach in Bombay, India. I will recommend this restaurant to all my friends, and will be back again and again!

By far the best dosa I’ve had in Glasgow. The idli was class too. Super affordable and the mango lassis are to die for.

Ordered butter chicken and chapati from this restaurant and worst experience ever. The order came atleast 45 mins late and I received parotta instead of chapati. Butter chicken barely had any chicken in it. Overall, a waste of 13 pounds. Terrible quality for expensive food.

In one word, this place is WOWlicious. Incredibly pocket friendly and ultra heavy on superb taste. This place will become your favourite at an instant. My regular go to order is Ghee Roast Dosa, Paneer Chettinad, Lachha Paratha, Masala Utappam, Paneer Chilli and a Paneer Dosa. Also, give a go to recoding the amazing art work done on the wall while your order gets ready. Food Heaven.

Food was delicious and price was great! I recommend asking for the off menu guntar kodi vepadu, which is a spicy chicken dish. It was some of the best chicken I’ve had! Our server was also very kind and attentive. I highly recommend stopping by :)

We had a splendid meal at Madhras Dosa. Had the lamb saag and it was so tender and flavourful. The service was also great. Would highly recommend if you’re in the area.

The food is great. Truly authentic south Indian restaurant but I had terrible experiences in both delivery and take away. On home delivery the quantity was not enough for a single person and in take away the curries were served in small tubs/ tins where restaurants give ketchup for take ways. Dining in and take away customers are paying the same so should be treated equally. Please consider this review.

Loved the Tamilnadu style Dosa and Sambar here. Price is also decent.

Amazing chutneys and sith Indian food. Kids love the papudums and plain dosa. I would recommend the onion tomato uttapam and paneer dosa as well. Rare find in Glasgow for authentic south Indian food.

The food was amazing and so was the customer service. The waitress made sure we knew what is really good and made sure we were alright with the food and everything!

Hands down best South Indian food I got to eat in Glasgow. Being someone from Chennai, I decided to try this place as soon as I saw their Masala Dosa on an Instagram reel. And I am happy we went there, the Masala Dosa was so satisfactory to see I immediately started eating it didn't even wait to take a pic of it. It tasted good, so were the chutneys. The Sambhar was more of a homely version than the typical Udipi Hotel Tiffin Sambhar which I'd have liked to see. We tried the Vikram Vedha parotta, it was so yum with the Mutton gravy that had soft, melt in mouth pieces. The chicken salna was good, Lamb Biryani was very much like the Chennai biryani style but a little oily to my liking however my wife loved it. The starter Guntur Kodi Vepudu recommended by the chef was so yum, it was spicy and flavorful. We also bought a Curd Vada which again was yum. Ambiance: The place is rather small and sometimes it can be hard to find a seat. The mural on the wall was tastefully done. Bottomline: We ate to our heart's content and so satisfied with the authentic South Indian taste. We're definitely going to be back again to try other specials.

Interior was really nicely decorated and clean, loved the wall mural depicting the coming together of South Indian and Glaswegian culture. Highly recommend the food!

Had my first masala Dosa here today and it was fantastic 😀😀 Very authentic and was busy when I was there, always a good sign. The chai was excellent and my dad was very happy with his turmeric milk as well. I'll be back!

Had a great meal close to the closing time and the food was amazing. Vikram was working the floor and the tills when we arrived and despite how busy he was, still found the time to talk to his patrons and make us all feel comfortable and gave me an extra reason to come back. Great guy and great service . Great food. Overall 10/10

Very good food at a very reasonable price. Staff quite friendly, especially the cashier. My only issue is that from 3 to 5 the restaurant goes on hiatus.

Ordered Vikram Vedha Paratha. But the way the dish is made with Paratha cut into pieces and dipped with spicy curry along with 1 egg omelette. Also it has mentioned Lamb chukka in uber eats menu. So the dish name and the delivered dish is entirely different, either the name should be changed or don't disappoint the customers by naming it uniquely. In the Vikram Vedha movie, it's a separate Paratha, its separate mutton chukka dipped with chicken korma. I hope it makes sense why I am disappointed ☹️

Wasn't expecting much given the price. However the set menu was/ is exceptional value for money. I've easily paid 3x that for far inferior food from other places. Very good!

Food wil be in authentic South Indian taste. Especially kari dosa, bahubali dosa, guntur chicken must try dishes. Service was very good. They changed the interior ,so it looks very nice and clean.

Found this wee gem yesterday. Tucked away be in one of the side lanes near kelvingrove art gallery and museum, small eatery serving South Indian food is not to be missed. It’s the food that wins it through and through. We have medu wada, masala dosa, onion uttappam and a lovely aromatic filter coffee. The aroma of the food transported me off to my mum’s kitchen. The taste of the sambar and white coconut chutney were spot on. It was not spicy but full on flavour. The sambar; for the uninitiated it’s a spiced lentil curry; had fair amounts of drumsticks (no, it’s not chicken legs, it’s the pods of the moringa tree) just like the original recipe would calls for! I haven’t seen that in other sambar serving places in the Glasgow. I would give 10-on-10 just for that. My partner loved the red and the green chutney as well. The chef also made some aromatic filter coffee which was served in a brass tumblers - yo!ho! to that. The seating area is small, like a cosy cafe, so maybe not the best ambience for a restaurant and the young person serving our table was probably inexperienced but the chef made up for it 😊. The prices are good value for money. All in all we came out happy only because of the food! Big thank you to the chef and the sous chef 🙏 Our recommendation…….go for it!

If you value the taste of the food over the looks of the place, come here. All the menu, but especially dosas, is finger-licking good, and there are plenty of options for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. The staff is very friendly and the prices are very reasonable. Overall, one of my favourite spots for eating out!

South Indian chicken wings are the best, tastes really good and authentic masala choices. You must try their weekend special chicken briyani. I suggest to visit Madhras dosa for authentic South Indian flavour which gives wings to your taste buds. I highly recommend this place.

I'd read online that their menu was gluten free but upon arrival was swiftly met with a condescending waitress - didn't stay even 5 minutes because of her rude attitude - a gluten containing dosa? the worst! I've never experienced such poor service and attitude from a waitress - tables dirty, floors needs a wipe - avoid

A lovely Indian takeaway away/restaurant. Food was very good and reasonably priced. We enjoyed all of our dishes and would recommend. It's a very informal place with friendly staff. Looking forward to going back soon.

I had Malabar Paratha and Butter Chicken and to be honest, the butter chicken was simply amazing. It is very different from the butter chicken available in other restaurants and for me it is one of the best I had in Glasgow. The parathaa was also really well prepared and would recommend everyone to at least try it once. The front of house staff was also extremely polite and well spoken. Overall I had a great experience.

Received a wonderful service and hospitality in Madras Dosa and tried their masala dosa and the taste was too good served with perfect South Indian sambar and two epic chutneys.

Amazing place to have south Indian cuisine, tried set meal, dosa, idli and medu vada, everything was awesome. Would defo recommend it.

Overall experience was good and dosa was ultimate taste and biryani Sema like our Chennai style and final touch filter coffee also awesome taste .

We enjoyed the food, very tasty. Had a family- run feel to it. Staff very accommodating and even stayed later than their closing time to accommodate us. One of the staff that served us, Ayushi was very welcoming and friendly. Incredible value for money really recommend.

One of the most authentic south indian dishes I've tried in Glasgow. Food is always fresh served - must try ones are Idly & wada, Mysore masala dosa. Love this place! Sitting arrangement is very basic but I can personally ignore that since food quality is one of the best for south indian food lovers.

Nice dhosa with authentic sambar and chutney

The food is generally quite good, although there's some inconsistency in the spice level. At times, it seems as if they used the same cookware for multiple dishes, which affects the taste. However, one aspect that can be annoying is their strong preference for cash payments. They routinely inquire about cash, even when you express your desire to pay by card, and this insistence can come across as rather aggressive.

The food is authentic and extremely flavourful... It reminds you of a wee restaurant in Kerala or Tamil Nadu. The ambience is quiet homely and the staff are warm and welcoming.. would definitely visit again ☺️

There are lot of south indian style restaurants in Glasgow but i felt the taste of real home food only in this restaurant I have tried almost all the restaurants the Murungakkai Sambar and chutney i loved it the lamb briyani here is awesome sambar idly sambar vada chicken dosa and Podi dosa are must try.

Update for November 2023, still great. This is what Indian food should be when you get rid of the fluff that you see in so many Indian restaurants in Glasgow. Still my favourite. A tiny place, unpretentious but most importantly delicious well made food.

Hands down the most authentic food I've had in Glasgow. Dosa with 3 chutneys just like how they serve it back in TN. I loved their chicken chettinad curry and Podi Dosa. They have special biriyanis available only during the weekends. Highly recommended!

The food was nice with good Indian taste. The place is small with limited seating space, we visited during afternoon and found the space to sit easily though. The only thing that we did not like is that the quantity of sides (sambhar with dosa and raita with biryani) is very less. It is not enough to enjoy the entire meal on the plate.

Really good masala dosa. I am originally from Kerala India so I have have eaten plenty of dosa. The chicken pepper fry was also good. Small restaurant, would recommend for authentic South Indian food.

Me and my friends love South Indian cuisine and were craving for some real good authentic South Indian food. Ever since we’ve been in UK we have only got disappointment under the name of, “Authentic Cuisine”. But, Madhras Dosa was an exception. The restaurant setting is quite simple and we don’t expect anything fancy, but the food taste is just phenomenal! Exactly serving what we need and in the best way. We felt nostalgic with every bite we had. The mirchi bhaji is spot on and I would recommend dishes like Podi Masala Dosa, Idli Vada Sambar, Onion Chilli Utthapam and filter coffee to complete the meal. Would highly recommend this place to all who seek real South Indian cuisine in Glasgow.

Recently we had ordered some customised menu for a house function. I need to personally thank Satish who had accepted my menu and the food was delicious and good in quantity. I truely recommend Madras dosa for any function you get tasty and value for money food.

Went to this restaurant after reading the numerous positive reviews on our first trip to Glasgow but was really disappointed with the quality of food. We ordered the special dum biriyani, Malabar Paratha and chicken Chettinad. Apart from the parathas everything was below average, the chettinad curry tasted like something else with lamb pieces, it almost had too much ‘daal’ taste to it which is not usual for a chettinad and it tasted like they mixed the lamb pieces with another curry base. The biriyani was underwhelming and portion was very small indeed the smallest plate of biriyani we had. Overall disappointed as we were hoping for better South Indian food in Glasgow as it was our first trip to Glasgow unless if it was one of their bad days. I informed the same to the owner and they look flabbergasted and didn’t offer any response to the comments. In short it’s not monies worth for the quality nor quantity based on our experience. Hope this review will be taken with a positive note and quality is improved

Stumbled upon this place while we were traveling Scotland. Their dosa was very good and their homemade Malabar paratha was excellent. I encourage you to try a paratha from here if you’ve never had one. Would definitely come back if ever in the area again!

Authentic Indian!! Nothing fancy about the food. If you love your food with no frills attached, this is the place to go to. We ordered masala dosa, Mysore masala and paneer dosa. Once the three of us polished it, we ordered medu Vada and then packed some matar paneer with some Malabar parothas!! We thought, we needed more and packed 2masala dosas!!

I got podi Masala Dosa and it was good but the chatni they gave with it was too less in quantity. Overall food is worth the try, small place but can find seat and food is worth it too.
